Guess we aren't the only ones struggling with OU's guards
Zipsrifle replied to Quickzips's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I'm pulling for them. They look like they are all buisness and aren't suprised to be here! -
And you're saying we had an inside game tonight? I can't wait unil middle to late next year when Zeke really give us a solid big man underneath. He seems to be filling out nicely.
-
What the hell has happened around here!?!? We lose and people actually have someting positive and insightful to say? What the hell were they serving at the Q tonight?
-
Man is it refreshing to see Zip fans who after a loss, aren't acting like a bunch of 4 year olds who just had their toys taken away. Kudos.
-
Another point, OU took down Akron, Can't, and their rival Miami. Toughest 3 games any team in the MAC would have to face. Do us proud in the NCAA.
-
I'm not a big McNees fan, but this guy is clutch! I want the ball in his hands anytime the game is close and there is less than 20 sec. left. Nice Job Steve.
-
It was a hard fought game all around, and OU held the lead most of the way. Lets give credit where credit is due. Congratulations.Akron lets get to the same point next season.
-
We aren't going to start this again are we? We lost the game, not the refs. We were playing from behind the entire time and OU did what they had to. Congrats to OU.

Bullshit...if they were the best, they'd be playing tonight. Them being a bad matchup for Akron doesn't make them the best team in the conference (EMU was a bad matchup for UA too, doesn't mean they're the best either.) Personally, I think if you were to take Can't at their best, they would beat any other MAC team at their best. The problem I see with Can't is that though they are up for BIG games, they also fall victim to the "Little" game. Being as objective as I can be, if I had to pick any team from the MAC to represent the MAC in the NCAA tourney, I would pick Can't. They would be "UP" for their NCAA tourney game and IMO would be most likely to pull it off. Granted I don't follow BB that closely, but that is my opinion. With that said, I was as happy as any Akron fan to see them fall to OU as I really don't like Can't or their fans. I want Akron to continue to grow as a program and hopefully, be a National Champion some day. Being in 4 MACC games in 4 years is a darn good run. Being in the NCAA for two straight years would be pretty good too. I think it will help with recruiting, the programs reputation locally and nationally, help bring in more fans, and help the teams confidence. Obviously I'm pulling for the Zips tonight as I think they are the second best team to represent the MAC. Our guys have the ability, but I don't seem them as having that killer instict. Hopefully that happens tonight, it seemed to last year.

I'm going to try to put this in perspective. You know going into the match what you need to do. You can add your score in your head as you go and you know where you normally shoot, your comfort zone. As you go along, it is very hard to not to have an idea of how you are doing, even harder here with the scores posted in front of you. Generally you will fall into your "Comfort Zone". If you are doing bad, you'll get a few great shots, if you are doing good, you'll drop a couple until you land in your "Comfort Zone". It is a subconscious thing, very hard to avoid which is what makes the sport so challenging and why I say it is 99% mental. The best match I ever shot was my very last match. I sighted in my gun, put my spotting scope off to the side and shot the entire position with absolutely no idea of what my score was. I never looked at my targets between relays and I shot way above my "Comfort Zone".

Sarah's out of the finals, currently #9. Too bad, she was in it for a while but I think her nerves got to her....I know all too well how that goes. I'm proud of her, great showing!

Stankey, Mississippi = -5 (Done)Lorenzen, TC = -7 (Done)Morrissey, TCU = -10 (Done)Buck, Army = -10 (Done)Lamson, WVU = -13 (Done)Csenge, Kentucky = -14 (Done)Kulbacki, WVU, -16 (Done)Sojka, Murray = -20 (Done)Benjamin, Akron = -21 (Done)Barber, Murray = -21 (Done)Bures, Alaska = -22 (Done)Carr, Army = -26 (Done)Jeffries, Nebraska = -28 (Done)
-
In terms of those who are done: Stankey, Mississippi = -5 (Done)Morrissey, TCU = -10 (Done)Buck, Army = -10 (Done)Lamson, WVU = -13 (Done)Csenge, Kentucky = -14 (Done)Kulbacki, WVU, -16 (Done)Benjamin, Akron = -20Sojka, Murray = -20 (Done)Barber, Murray = -21 (Done)Carr, Army = -26 (Done)Jeffries, Nebraska = -28 (Done)Sarah is having a bad target....probably did the math in her head and knew she might make it which psyched her out.
-
Here is where we stand from perfect going down the line:Stankey, Mississippi = -4Jeffries, Nebraska = -20Kim, Nebraska = -12Lankes, Navy = -8Wang, Navy = -17Csenge, Kentucky = -14 (Done)Settlemires, Kentucky = -11Kulbacki, WVU, -15Lamson, WVU = -13 (Done)Bures, Alaska = -17Rutter, Alaska = -5Morrissey, TCU = -10Lorenzen, TCU = -5Buck, Army = -7Carr, Army = -22Barber, Murray = -17Sojka, Murray = -20 (Done)Benjamin, Akron = -12
-
How many go to the final?
-
Morrissey from TCU is done with -10 so lets call that the mark to beat and go from there.
-
Bures = -13And you have to take into account how many shots they have to go. Stankey is down three with only 16 shots to go.Are you extrapolating this? Regardless, it is misleading, which is why a plot would be helpful. Sarah is on a run, she dropped 4 on her last card and is cleaning this card.
-
This is misleading, however, as Bures is at 20 shots and Rutter is at 40 shots. They should have a line plot with all the scores on it so you can easily tell how each shooter is doing in relation to the others.
-
At this point, here is my tally from a perfect score, not including centers:Bures, Alaska = -2Rutter, Alaska = -3Stankey, Mississippi = -3Buck, Army = -5Lorenzen, TCU = -5Lankes, Navy = -5Benjamin, Akron = -8Kim, Nebraska = -8Wang, Navy = -8Lamson, WVU = -8Morrissey, TCU = -8
-
Leaders are starting to separate from the rest of the pack. Sarah is falling back but overall she still has a very strong showing.
-
Yea, that is a bit frustrating but something that can be addressed for next year. Kelly Buck isn't doing too bad either.
-
More thoughts. Where is the time? That would be nice and it would also be nice to click on a shooter and get the total history of their shots, you can only get the current card.
-
It would also be nice to be able to select the shooters you want to watch so you can get more information on each. It would also be nice to get a running tally next to each shot so that you can compare scores when shooters are 3-4 shots ahead or behind.
-
Yep, that is the hardest part, keeping your head! I know a shooter who was really good in practice but she got psyched out in the match.
-
Sarah dropped one and at this level, that could be the difference. Still, I'm very impressed with how well she is shooting. Newt and Brian must have a very good method at preparing these shooters as they have shot at a high level at the NCAA's the past two years.
