  1. Last year ALL 12 of the winners of the Cingular Player of the Week Award were from BCS Conferences. This week Ohio's Dion Byrum is one of the four candidates against 3 BCS players. As MAC fans, students and alumni we currently have a chance to bring even more exposure to the MAC by voting for Byrum. On ESPN2 Friday night Byrum scored two INT return touchdowns in Ohio's 16-10 upset of Pitt, the defending Big East Champion. Let's all team up and vote a MAC player as the "Player of the Week!" Details, stats and more info are on a new page that I have created on the VanDelaySports.com Web site. I will be posting this on every MAC school's message boards to get support for Byrum, so do not feel like there's only going to be a few of us voting. I will likely post on Ohio State's board as well as they will surely not want to see Texas QB Vince Young win the award.
  2. Looks like Nick went 9-1 with his picks this week. Only Miami's loss to CMU kept him from a perfect week #2... Good showing today @ Purdue guys. Good luck at MTSU next week!
  3. Nick's Picks for Week #2 are now live on VanDelaySports.com! Take a look and feel free to comment as Nick has one major MAC team upsetting a BCS opponent and another coming close! VanDelaySports.com
  4. Roger's a "frye" short of a happy meal most of the time... Anyone see the new McDonalds commecial with Braylon Edwards and Charlie? Would you like a large fry with that? No thanks, I already have one...
  5. I just realized that Nick has added his Week #1 Recap on the Nick's Picks Section of VanDelaySports.com. I will let you all know later this week once he has the Nick's Picks Week #2 selections live on the site.
  6. In an effort to continually improve and expand the VanDelaySports.com Web site the latest addition to the site is our "MAC Sports Email Updates" page and sign-up list. Now any MAC fan can sign up on our Opt-In email list (you sign up AND verify via email sent to you) to receive Mid-American Conference and member school updates. Now we're not going to spam you so don't worry. Nick and I don't have the time to do so. But as major happenings occur (Miami over OSU Saturday?, MAC adds Notre Dame ) we'll notify you by email. Best of all it's free and there's no catch. We just want more MAC fans to be better informed and see the enhancements and additions we're making EVERY DAY to VanDelaySports.com. Sign up today at VanDelaySports.com!

  8. Nick's Picks 2005 is now live on VanDelaySports.com! For the 7th straight year Nick will have his picks listed on VanDelaySports.com along with his MAC Quick Notes and specific game notes for every Week #1 matchup. 9. Just added a new page to the http://www.VanDelaySports.com Web site listing former MAC players in the NFL. Feel free to check it out and let me know if everything is accurate! VanDelaySports.com
  10. I just wanted to take a moment to let you guys know that one of the top MAC fan sites since the 1990’s, www.VanDelaySports.com, has a new look and more original content than ever before. The 2005 MAC Pigskin Preview (with FUN predictions on every MAC game) and Recruiting Analysis both provide detailed info about each MAC football team. I am also pleased to announce that we will be expanding basketball coverage this season as well. Beginning next week Nick will start updating the “Nick’s Picks 2005†section of the Web site where Nick makes his weekly picks for all games involving MAC teams and then after the week. He will then follow up with a weekly recap of his picks and what really happened in the games. Please understand these predictions are nothing more than for fun and never intended for any other use. Nick is what I consider to be a “MAC insider†as he is a well-respected writer by the Mid-American Conference offices and by Rick Chryst. He has run the VanDelaySports.com since the 1990’s and has been interviewed on 850 WKNR in Cleveland on several occasions. I am working with Nick to provide a true team effort as two MAC alumni working together to promote the conference online. I also want to invite you all to check out MACReportOnline.com which is run by an Eastern Michigan alumnus and, like www.VanDelaySports.com, is yet another great source of Mid-American Conference sports news and information.
