Congrats Zips. You guys really have our number this year. I nominate you guys as our next "Toledo" since we beat them this year. I am thankful that we don't play you every year. I just wanted to add my two cents about Ford Field. You guys probably have a better opinion of the place since you won, but I am trying to not be influenced by this. As far as I am concerned the place absolutely sucked for a football game. I wanted to tailgate before the game, but we quickly found out that that wasn't going to happen. We went to the Eastern Market to try to tailgate, but we realized that that wasn't going to happen when there was nobody else there to tailgate and it was in the middle of the ghetto. You cannot tailgate around Ford Field and Comerica Park. Our Toledo friends that we were with showed us a mud lot about 3 blocks from the stadium where they may tailgate for Lions games, but again there was nobody there and it was scary being the only people there. We were at Hockey Town following our expedition around Detroit, and while it was a nice big bar, it was ungodly expensive. $6 kool aid long islands, $8 24 oz CANS of beer! I guess that is what you should expect from a downtown bar when the wings are playing. As far as Ford Field is concerned, I will admit that I was in awe with the place when I got there, but that quickly changed when the game started. It was my first game in a dome and I am now convinced that FB should be played outside no matter what the weather is like. I would have much rather seen my third game at the Rubber Bowl this year than to see the game at FF. I really like your stadium. The RB would ROCK if you guys ever filled that place to capacity. Several people that I have talked to described the game as like watching a movie at Ford Field. I agree with this analysis. It didn't seem real to me. Also the place got WAY too hot by the end of the game. I can only imagine how hot the players were. Some snow falling on my head would have been a relief. Once again, congrats Zips, you deserved that win. Enjoy your return trip to Detroit. Make our conference proud with a OOC win. Just play better than how you did against Army (I was there)

Hey Zips fans, I wanted to invite you all to come join us for a pregame tailgate at Ford Field before the MACC. Tailgating is not allowed at the stadium so they have a separate lot for tailgating called the Eastern Market. Do you guys think that you will outdraw us in Detroit? You are 100+ miles closer to Detriot than we are. I personally can't see that happening.

So you are saying that NIU would bring 4,000+ less fans to Mobile than we did to California last year for the SVFC last year? Think again man. I would say that NIU would bring 5K or so to Mobile for the Bowl. No way Akron brings that many down there. Excitement is at an all time high for Huskie Football.

You will not be eligible for a bowl if (or should I say when ) you lose the game. You will be 6-6 on the year and you need to have a winning record to be in a bowl. I see you getting the MCB if you win on Thursday.

Congrats guys, you deserve to go to the MACC after you got screwed out of a bowl game last year. You needed a second tiebreaker (I think) , but in the end all that matters is that you will be playing us in Detroit. Our team will be ready for you guys. I am not trying to be an a$s, but our team will be fired up for this game and it may get ugly. Payback is a Bitch! See you on Thursday.

Well, we took care of Can't State before I headed over to Akron for the game. I tailgated for a couple of hours at Akron with my NIU flag up in the tailgating lot. I would like to thank Campbells for being there! Despite the weather the atmosphere was good for tailgating. I am not going to go into details of the game, but with no disrespect intended, after seeing you play yesterday, I am shocked that we lost to you guys. It was a brutal game yesterday.

Hey Zips fans. Just letting you know that after our game at Can't on Saturday myself and two other Huskie fans will be heading back down to Akron to cheer you guys on! If you see three guys decked out in NIU stuff, that will be us! Some of your fans were questioning why we came all the way out to see NIU last time, but they will be even more puzzled when we show up and our team is not even playing!!! You guys have a heck of a team this year. Way to take it to our Huskies on Saturday. Great win, you deserved it. I was at the game on Saturday and I really enjoyed the experience at the Rubber Bowl. Any plan to move those lightposts away from the field? I am sure there is a reason why they are there, but they should really move them. We met some really cool Zips fans and some really crappy ones. We had some fans go out of their way to welcome us and a few go out of their way to rub in the victory after the game. Overall kind of what I expected. Good luck the rest of the way. I am heading out to the game on Saturday and I wanted to get some info about Akron. I know the Rubber Bowl is off campus, but where is it in relation to the campus? Also, would you be able to recommend some good sports bars and hotels around the campus? I am looking forward to the game Sat. Hope to see you there!
