Building a new arena/stadium doesn't always equate with better attendance. The MAC's two newest basketball arenas (NIU and EMU) have had problems getting 3,000 fans.A winning program over a prolonged period of time builds a fan base. BTW, I hope Akron builds a real stadium out of concrete and not one of those tinker toy ones with steel girders like Central Florida is building.

My guess is that the BE wouldn't take a new school without a 40K stadium and a 10K arena and fans to go in the seats. South Florida is in the middle of a booming area and has quite a bit of money. They are a school of the future. That attracts conferences like the BE.

Toledo will begin a $30 million renovation of Savage Hall after the upcoming basketball season and the building will be ready for the 2008-09 season. This will be a total renovation of the building including more than 20 suites and loges, a hall of fame and pro shop. An indoor turf practice facility will be attached to the arena and will open in 2009.
