  1. Chicago State. Seats 7,000. One large suite. Toledo. Seats 7,300. Suites, club seats, restaurant.
  2. Missouri State University. Seats 11,000. Built 2008. $67million. 22 suites.
  3. How about Toledo? Seats 7,300. Loges, club seats, suites, restaurant.
  4. Home: Ball State, Toledo, Can't State, Ohio; Road: Northern Illinois, BGSU, Miami, UMass Extremely tough conference schedule.
  5. Attendance needs to improve. Toledo is averaging 3,800+. Wow.
  6. Interesting that the reporter said the MAC Conference.
  7. The NCAA hasn't penalized Toledo for anything. Even so, UT fired both its football and basketball coaches. Boston College was caught up in a big betting scandal and that didn't stop them from going to the ACC. SMU actually had the death penalty and they're going to the Big East. Marshall was cheating in the MAC, but CUSA didn't care. Now they are expanding their FB stadium to 50K in hopes of moving up. Whether it's Indiana or Tennessee or Northwestern or USC, having the NCAA penalize you doesn't seem to have hurt those schools in the long run.
  8. Wouldn't you think that Toledo would have a better chance to make a conference move than Akron? A long history of winning, bowl games, second longest win streak in DI history, a very nice expandable stadium, MAC attendance records. Yes, the basketball hasn't been good lately, but Toledo did win a regular season championship as recent as 2007. The basketball facility had a $30 million renovation a few years ago and is very nice. Seats 7,300, but the north wall could easily be knocked out to continue the upper deck and get to 10,000+.
  9. There are no credible statistics out there that shown an appreciable fan increase in a new or renovated MAC arena. New/Newer/Renovated arenas at BG,Toledo, NIU, EMU and CMU have not increased attendance. In fact, for some, attendance has gone down. It's true that the above schools haven't had good teams recently, but the point still remains that the existing fan base wasn't increased by adding better seats, restrooms, food, parking and other amenities. Winning will help, but not as much as you might think.
  10. BG's arena will seat 4,400 per their press release. In terms of the $10 million endowment, they won't get anything until the donor dies.
  11. Syracuse isn't the New York flagship university, Buffalo is. I thought it was Army. Since Syracuse and Army are private they can't be a state flagship university.
  12. Syracuse isn't the New York flagship university, Buffalo is.
  13. Baumgartner is walking on at Toledo.
  14. People say James tanked during the playoffs, but didn't the Cavs tank when they wanted to get the first pick in the draft to get LeBron?
  15. From the Ohio State Rivals board:Archie Miller has agreed to take over a similar position at Arizona with his brother. Replacing Archie is Jeff Boals from Akron.Boals is one of the best, if not the best, when it comes to recruiting in the state of Ohio, and is a tireless worker. While losing Arch is a blow to OSU, hiring Boals is big time.
  16. http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/40204672.htmlThe suites are a bargain at $20K. My company has a suite at the Glass Bowl in Toledo and they charge $50K.
  17. Since no current MAC teams are self-supporting, I guess their plan is dead.
  18. After the new stadium is completed, what do you think the average home football attendance will be after the newness wears off?
  19. The big difference in Toledo's merger with the Medical University of Ohio is that the campuses are just two miles apart.
  20. Do the Rockets plan to play any of their games at the downtown arena?Toledo might play downtown every once in awhile, but not on a regular basis.
  21. I'd like to see UA and the city team up. Toledo is spending $30 million renovating their arena and at the same time the city is building a new one for $85 million downtown. What a waste.
  22. You can get major teams to visit MAC stadiums.Toledo has had Kansas, Pitt, Minnesota, Purdue, Indiana and others. Plus they have Purdue and Iowa State this year and Arizona and Fresno State in the next few years. And some way they pulled off a game with OSU in Browns Stadium where they are the home team and control over 50,000 tickets. They stand to make $2.5 million on the game according to the Toledo Blade.Do some creative scheduling and don't think small.
  23. When Akron did so much renovation on campus, I believe about $350 million, and now with a $50 million stadium, I would like to know where the financing comes from? Are we talking about selling bonds that are paid off by student fees? Anyone know how much private donations were involved?
