  1. gozips.com updated the 08 roster last week to include the incoming class. the only player missing i saw was Kevin Funches. anyone heard anything regarding his status with the university? if he's not with the team i sure hope they land chaz russell for the fall. can't wait to see the depth chart updated once fall practice starts! :screwks:

  2. i am guessing they are referring to j.d. relinquishing the offensive coordinator duties and going to the spread offense. best of luck to sean but if you can't beat out the cj's and you can't pull another d-I scholarship then it was best the two parted ways when they did :screwks:

  3. today i am now ready for some football!!!!!! re upped my season tickets (08-09 package) and convinced 5 others to do the same. i am pumped and ready for the season to start. only thing left to make up a tailgating menu and arrangements for the cuse game! side note: asked the ticket rep how many of the 5k promotional season tickets have been sold and he said about 75%.....good to hear! :screwks:

  5. cap one question.....when talking about jac; were you getting the feeling that the people you spoke with were just giving lip service and allowing him every chance to win the job? Or, did you think that they truly believe that he has made that big a stride? :screwks:

  7. from what i've heard akron didn't make the decision to drop kentucky. chryst did. both kentucky and wisconsin were ok with akron backing out but cryst made the choice for them with conference scheduling. chryst is an idiot and akron needs to get out of the mac asap. i agree that the big east would make a lot of sense for scheduling unless it's a school like iu. :screwks:

  8. you are right they don't and can't offer scholarships but they can offer "leadership scholarships" ( proud recipient of one). also they can offer you a job with the school and the hours you work for the school go towards your tuition. if you happen to be an elite athlete some one will always find a way :D just they way it is...... with that being said i am a graduate of a public school. so i can see the pros and cons of the article. :screwks:

  9. something to keep in mind when bigger conferences are looking to add teams. tradition doesn't always play a factor as some would think. usf and ucf are perfect examples of this. conferences will look at facilities, growth potential, and possible tv market. akron will have the nicest stadium in the conference and the city has made it clear it wants to build an arena downtown for basketball. enrollment is up and the university has a president dedicated to into a powerhouse for northern ohio. ut and akron really are the two that can make the move at this point. c-usa fits the demographics (campus wise) and would elevate the university. rifle i do agree with you that mack has done a very good job in the fundraising department. his legacy will be if he can get the university in position to upgrade in conference affiliation. :screwks:

  10. from the nbe site and a quote from his aau coachMarshall’s height, 7’4” wingspan, and athleticism are all huge plusses for his future on the court. The fact that “he can run all day”, according to Klimchock, is another rarity for such a tall player. As far as defense, Klimchock, who is no stranger to talent having coached two-sport phenom Terrelle Pryor in high school, is not shy in his enthusiasm. “I think if you ask people around the country they will probably tell you that he is the best shot blocker in the class. He is phenomenal at it.”i agree......is it 09 yet????? B):screwks:

  11. great post ZW! here's a little piece from a rivals article.Marshall isn't one to look past either. He was beaten by Buckles several times with the dribble drive but he also showed some fla.sh on the offensive end. He scored on three straight possessions by playing up to his size and length. Marshall scored with some one-handers in the paint and was good on the pick and pop on the baseline. He blocked two shots in that span and ran the floor for the reward.Marshall's game is a fla.sh here and a fla.sh there. The finish product is not in the near future and that is part of the intrigue with the big man. He lacks great strength but there is something about his game that will have the high-majors following him around this weekend.fyi. buckles is going to Louisville :screwks:

  12. before the zippers were shortened to zips i am pretty sure the song went zip go the zippers.......talk about double entendre  as for the moving a....so happy they did away with that!!!!!!!! the logo looks great and the fear the roo slogan is the best the schools ever had! additional question. what new traditions do you think need to start with the new stadium? i know there was a past thread for this but am curious if anyone thought of anything new???? :screwks: PS ZIPPY IS THE COOLEST!
