Hey, I'm not going to claim that OSU doesn't have it's share of jerk-off fans (hello every fanbase in America) but in our defense most of the ass hats have nothing to do with the university. For example, out of all the people arrested after the the '02 riots only ten were OSU students. Because of incidents like that it shouldn't surprise you that we aren't completely fond of those you have dubbed "front runner" fans either. I will welcome anybody who chooses to root for my Alma matter however I'm also quick to chastise them for unsportsmanlike behavior. Those were the same fans flushing the downward horns/ "Go back to North Mexico" comments that K Hoe ended up apologizing for (I won't even get into that BS). That being said, those fans are also not the type to show up in droves to anything other than so-called marquee games. As Akron fans you should have no real problems in going to an Ohio State game unless you plan on drawing the attention of one of the jerks by matching them in obnoxiousness. If you show up prepared to cheer for your team, talk football, and enjoy the day, then 99/100 people you come across will treat you with the utmost respect. I would have no problem with walking around the shoe on game day while wearing an Akron jersey. Finally, if you think negative behavior is limited to Columbus on game day you are crazy. I've been verbally assaulted and had shit thrown at me while wearing my OSU gear at PSU, Wisky (that place is crazy), Michigan (of course), and even Indiana! Funny story, I actually got attacked by a student at Indiana. I mean, Indiana, really.
