QUOTE (RatFink @ May 27 2004, 08:25 PM) "No comment", said with a smirk by a UA offical. The FINKSTER was right ... !!!!!!!!! Do the deal, Charley

Is this board a home for Castaway wanna bes or Joe Schmoe III? Check the official ESPN web site for the current ESPN/ESPN2 TV broadcast schedule. The ZIPS are on it only once. Nov.5 at home verses the cheaters, er, the we've-been-caught-got- our-little-hands-slapped-BUT-on-national-TV-three-times this fall Blundering Turd. ESPN/ESPN2 2004 College TV Schedule

DIPWEED says, "to him, Dials sucks." Suckeye fans are/were screaming to quickly hire Coach Knight partly because Coach Knight highly praised young mister Dials. Most Suckeye fans were wont to let Nick Dials leave their program. Its not every freshman "walk on" who can start as a true freshman on a Big Ten team. Nick Dials did. Nine times, even for three games after breaking his wrist. Now Coach Dambrot and Coach Knight are not ranked among the world's stupidest people. Both of them rate Nick Dials as a player. Do the math. Schifino for one year on two years worth of scholarship money or Dials for three years on four years worth of scholarship money. Are we talking brain surgeon here? Besides, the Zips may still pick up Schifino. Do the deal, Charley.

What kind of a moron blows a $900,000 a year job? Z-POUCH you are exactly right. The pressure is intense at that level to win. Win at all costs. O'Brien and Tressel have given the Suckeyes exactly what they paid for. A (sic) meaningless quasi-national championship in football and a final four appearance using a kid that by all standards and their own admissions was ineligible. And the fans cheered on. And the fans cheered on. Remember this deceit and chicanery when Suckeye fans taunt you with their jeers of their so called accomplishments. They accomplished only shame and disgrace. Frankly, Ohio State needs a death penality for three or four years in football and basketball to clean out the fetid stench O'Brian AND Tressel have brought to them. Eventually more will come out about Claret and others that will poison OSU's football reputation. Tressel escaped the filth he left behind at YSU, he won't be so lucky this time. And the Suckeye fans cheered on.

Anybody remember this guy's game against the Zips?
RatFink replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Football
Its easy to have an awesome game when you are offsides on every play and not flagged for your early line crossing. To be fair, Osunda was called offsides three or four times during the game. Overall, he got the benifit of far more 'no calls'. He is a pretty decent player. He has a chance to stick with the Clowns. Kanga Craig is correct. The defense, not the thirty seven point production offense cost the game. Lay the blame on Owens shoulders. No fricking pass rush. None, nada on that final drive that set up the winning field goal. -

What do we have here? Twiddly-dee and Twiddly-dum? Two twits with zero basketball knowledge trash mouth talking about the caliber of coaches they have never met. Nor ever studied their performance history. With these two brain trusts on the review board, Jim Tressel would still be at Youngstown State. Coach Dambrot is a top shelf coach that wizened Zips fans have lusted after for years. I mean years. Years long before he came on board the Akron staff. Coach Dambrot knows what he wants. What's more, he knows how to get there. Who he selects as assistants is part of his general plan of action. He did not choose from the rotted fish barrel. These two happy campers would have nixed the hiring of Bob Huggins to both Akron and Cincinnati. So much for brain farts.

I don't see no stinking update. Not on www.gozips.com, not in the Urinal, not even on this board. What gives? The moving completion date was last quoted as May 14th. That's nearly yesterday, or soon will be. The fat assed SID is sleeping at his desk again. Or should I say still? Once again UA is overwhelmed in gross incompetence. Look for an annoucement that the fieldhouse and ajoining student areas might be ready for ocupation in 2007. We'll all be speaking Arabic by then.

ZIPMAN has exposed himself as a Cant State grad. Pretty tough to go 5-5 in an ELEVEN game season. To claim that JD will only equal what LO would have accomplished really sells JD short. The offense should be at least 80% of last year's. The defense this fall looks to be greatly improved over the LO era. I say 8-3 with a victory over PSU or Virginia to sweeten the season. Do the deal, Charlie.

While five foot seven inch Courtney Stewart might be a nice player, she's a guard. Let's hope that Courtney is actually 5'-7" and not the 5'-5" Jae Conn is reported as. The Lady Zips already have several nice guards on their roster. What they need is an inside game. They need players who go after the ball. Players with moxie and muscle to compete in the paint. Without an inside presense the Lady Zips are doomed to another miserable season. And, coach Kennedy will soon be looking for a new job. Do the deal, Charlie.

Seems to me that one handed brush by touches as sacks was lame. All three QBs were victim of these (sic) sacks. In most cases they would have broken free and continued the play. All three QB's had what would have been excellent runs stopped by being touched with a single hand. All three had excellent completed passes negated by this victimization as well. Perhaps Joe Pa can get the Big Ten refs to accord him the same favor. After all, a loss to the lowly Zips could force his long over due retirement.

It had been speculation and rumor that the contractor that installed the turf at the Rubber Bowl and now in the field house is in financial difficulties. Appearantly the contractor has closed done. The turf is on site at the field house with no one to install it. Work is stopped. Work in the two outdoors fields is appearantly continuing. It was reported that the ground is being cleared for side by side grass and turf fields. The original plans called for two full length practice fields. Just reported was that the turf portion will only be sixty yards long. Maybe the university can cut its losses and sell the place to the Suckeyes. Do the deal, Charlie.

A recent post had a link that spoke of goings on at SMU. SMU is some small time school that is well known for cheating in case you haven't heard. Kind of reminds one of Marshall on a bigger scale. In that article SMU fans were complaining that Fort Worth was littered with billboards proclaiming TCU as Fort Worth's home town team. SMU is located in a gawd forsaken place called Dallas a cow town just east of the most excellent city of Fort Worth. Since 2004 is a banner year for trumpeting the wares of one Charlie Frye, it seems an excellent opportunity to RECLAIM Akron as the home town of the University of Akron and the Zips. How about a dual billboard campaign? Feature the real Heisman canidate Charlie Frye on one set and proclaim the Zips as the home team of Akron. The fettid cesspool of Column-bus is far enough away to keep the stench out. Even advertise both in the Creakin' Jurinal. Here's an advertising tip for the SID. Feature Charlie Frye with a back drop of another famous Akron quarterback. If memory serves me, his name was John Heisman. And, I belive he engineered a 12-6 thumping of the vaunted Suckeyes. Do the deal, Charlie.

Are these the same buffons that have Charlie ranked as the EIGHTIETH best player? That player listing had the QB from Toledo ranked 78th. This write up is calling him the MAC player of the year. How much more proof do you need to know that the UA SID is sitting on his fat, lazy ass doing zilch? Charlie Frye is the BEST player and the best Quarterback in the MAC and probably the best college quarterback for the 2004 season. The UA SID has the responsibility to promote Charlie. It sure is appearant that Toledo is promoting their Brucey Boy. btw, the conferences are listed in near alphabetical order. Big Twelve comes after Big East. And the Pac Ten is surely better than the MAC. The games are won on the field. The best player is proven on the field. Do the deal Charlie.

Who ever, You ain't the RatFink. I know, because I am the real RatFink and I would never post under any name except this one. RatFink has no need to hide. Besides, you are dissing a good man by stealing his name. Then again, a name like Weasal Lips probably wears well on you. If you think you can, post under the name RatFink. On to business. The Creakin' Latrine buried the Zips 2004 football schedule under the caption "Can't State Signs". Who the hell cares about a late signee for that miserable foosball (I spelt it right) program? The fricking UA SID should be all over David Morgan for that crap. The 2004 football schedule deserves a bylined article. Princess Morgan needs to haul his fat ass away from the donuts and Pepsi machine. And DUH DUNDERHEAD show us your degree in marketing. Good marketing never misses an opportunity for free publicity. Especially something that should have gone out on a national wire. The only way to get Charlie even a shot at the Heisman is to promote the hell out of him. That means taking every opportunity and creating opportunities. Do the deal, Charlie.

On these boards I see all this glitzy praise for Mike Thomas. For his actions of firing the unpopular and hiring the popular. Praise left and right for Mikey. Well,no praise coming from this post. Mikey and the rest of his lazy, fat assed staff are in a stupor over Charlie Frye. If this were Marsahll or a real big time university the campaign for Charlie getting the Heisman would have been in full swing nearly a year ago. Its not even being openly talked about. Bet its the piddly thirty or forty thousand in advertisment money. An improptu effort by some of the car coach big wheels to raise the money off campus was met with a cold rebuff. Watch the lying denials on this one. I know the truth. "We're doing something." To quote Mikey. Some thing what? Waiting for hell to freeze over or to see how a real big time program goes about it? Big time programs have shilled their kids for forty plus years. How to go about it is clearly defined. And, brother finese is not it. You have to stand on the roof tops and shout the name. Its not too late for Charlie to bail out. Even just campaigning for the Heisman and a decent set of numbers from Charlie in the Fall guarantees two things. Charlie gets the first round selection he deserves and the university gets the attention it needs. Wouldn't that just throughly piss off all the bucket heads. You know these people. They demand that the Zips return to division III (college divison to them). They show up at Zips games sporting the scarlet and puce of the Suckeyes. Do the deal, Charlie.

Cap'n, Most if not all of the kids in the past two recruiting classes were picked and delivered by Coach D. All three of the incoming kids are his as well. Coach D is going to make Akron proud. If anyone can turn the Zips into the next Zag its Coach D.

I sit here pondering. Who turns on the puter and signs on to internet for weasal lips? There's trash talk and there's garbage talk, but weasal lips you are something else. There rest of us are kind of hoping you change your undies as often as you change screen names. Perhaps some one could send weasal lips a stack of old basketball rags so weasal lips can get an education in basketball. Of all the idiot remarks from weasal lips the mere suggestion of Greg Kraley being considered for the HC job is by far the most absurd. Big Dan is toast. Randy Andy is toast. Cryin Brian is toast. Weasal lips is

WOIO (channel 19) of Cleveland is reporting a press conference for Wednesday at 2 PM. Speculation is the naming of a new men's basketball coach. Only one man qualifys as a candidate. Keith Dambrot to be named to succeed Dan Hipsher. Do the deal, Charley. 'nuff said

Who Is the Next Zips Hoops Coach?
RatFink replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Keeping Coach Hipsher is out of the equation. Hip is a great guy. But, his track record stinks. Year after year his promising teams falter down the stretch. Only one senior player ever had a great year under him. I hope coach lands a great job in position that allows his many talents to excel. Frankly, I never heard of "Pete" Dambrot. Larry Hunter was best known for recruiting thugs. Of which he had many. OU basketball was mostly a mugfest when Hunter held the reins. Opponents feared for the safety of their kids. Thugs do not make for gritty basketball they only produce nasty basketball. While I yearn for the days of Huggins where an opponent knew better than to drive the lane I'll pass on the brand of thugball Hunter is so fond of. John Loyer brings a smile to my face. While a senior at Zippyland he once asked me if my date was as "hot" as she looked (a woman easily old enough to be his mother). She was and still is. As a head coach for the Zips Loyer may be just what the Zippers need. Coach Loyer is an Akron man. He was always popular. He is smart and has a good presense. An excellent choice. The famous coach to be named later. Not sure on this one. The only way to impress me here would be to bring in a coach that has an awesome win to loss ratio. Not a just okay record as Hipsher had at Stetson. More inclined toward an ACC/SEC/BE assistant that has lower level success that got him his current assistant job. Lastly, there is a guy on my radar screen that I have had my own gut feeling as to his abilities for years. He is right in town. He has local connections. He has a tawdry soiled past like a good dance hall gal. The kids love him. He proved he can find and more importantly develop talent. He has patience, determination and class. I cast my vote for the hiring of Keith Dambrot. Enough said. Do the deal, Charley. Oh, speaking of Charley, one of the two and possibilly the best quarterback in the nation when will the SID beqin churning up the hype machine for a Heisman run? Marshall would have been on this last year like they did for their players. -
1) Dan Hipsher Ho ho ho 2) The famous "semi"-motion offense Ho ho ho 3) Unless you are Andy Hipsher, you sit after any miscue Ho ho ho 4) If you are over six foot six, you sit Ho ho ho 5) If your last name is Hipsher you get extra floor minutes Ho ho ho 6) The keep your hands down defense Ho ho ho 7) Rick McFadden is not square to the basket (always hits the iron on the left) Ho ho ho 8) What clock management? Ho ho ho 9) The lost art of the rebound Ho ho ho 10) Speaking of heart Wo wo wo

Just what the Zippys need. A stadium three times further off campus than the current one. Anyone can see that's a great idea. Easy access to Cleveland like the old Richfield Coliseum was. Just as far from Clevelanders minds, too. Ho ho ho. What moron at Hill Top High is dreaming of shiny new 25,000 seat (Divison I-AA class) stadium. Doesn't the NCAA already require I-A stadiums be brought up to 30,000 seat capacity? Is there a clue to the Zippy's future here? Ho ho ho. Could it be that the ghost of cheapness and lipless cowardness still haunts the campus? Ho ho ho. Perhaps the trees on campus aren't trees at all, but thousands of "Ents" that will fill the seats of this shiny complex 20 miles from home. After all, it only takes an "Ent" about a week to walk 20 miles. They better be able to. They will be the only ones there. Ho ho ho. Is there any chance of forward vision in Zippyland? Will Zips fans continue to be treated to the likes of Howard and Cal-Poly as future home and home dates? Even Middle Tennessee which jumped to I-A years after the Zips has a better future. Ho ho ho.
