  1. From Footballscoop: Akron: This afternoon we spoke with sources very close to the process. After those talks, we believe that Terry Bowden is the only candidate that was technically offered the job. .....

Makes sense. In business, you interview a number of candidates before offering the position to the one who you find through the interview process to be the most qualified. There are things that are brought out during the interview process that may cause either the interviewer or interviewee to decide that there is not a good match. It appears that UA and Bowden found each other mutually attractive during the interview process, and that mutual attraction did not work out with the other candidates.

And if the first one you make the offer to turns you down then you don't count that as an offer and make your first offer to the second best candidate.

Key word in this is "technically"

  2. I ate at Robs for 4 years and never had those sorts of problems.

Now, I stayed away from the fish. That might have been part of it.

You must have also stayed away from the scrambled eggs at breakfast.

The scrambled "eggs" separated the boys from the men. Seriously, I've had better scrambled eggs in the Army then I ever had at Rob's.

  3. Here's an interesting quote also. "According to the source, Bowden reached out to Akron."

Makes one wonder if the athletic department would have even tried to contact him. If that's the case, then Wistricill is still a fool.

Reinforces our belief that folks here on ZNO could've done the job for FREE that UA has now squandered $75,000 on: search committees. We were calling for Bowden two years ago, let alone a month ago when this process started. Like you, CK, I do wonder if TW ever even had Bowden on his wish-list. If he did, then why did he drive to Detroit and offer the job to a guy he snubbed two years ago? Did he somehow think Winters would do something for UA that a top talent like Bowden would not? How deluded is that thinking?

No, I rather suspect that TW fell into this one back-asswards, and may come out smelling like a rose thru no effort of his own.

Maybe he was just keeping his options open?

  4. There have been a total of 25 FBS openings this year. 18 are now filled. The seven that are open are: Akron, Arkansas State, Arizona State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Houston, Penn State and Southern Miss.
Find out who four (one being PSU) of those schools interviewed, wait until those four jobs are filled, and hire the best one that will take the job. Sit back and play MW3 until then. I'm half joking, but this plan is better than the last one.

yeah, you strike me as more of a Battlefield kinda guy.

  5. I hear Paul Winters is our man and he'll be announced the second tuesday of next week.

Where do you guys get this information?

Dr. Suess. He's in the english department.

I'm not being a smart ass. It's a sincere question. There are a few people who seemingly have inside info. Where's this come from? Acquaintances in the athletic department? Local businessmen who are involved? Is this student talk from the Student Union? Hints from GA's?

I was going for a satire type post. If you re read it you will see it. I imagine you saw "Paul Winters is our guy" and missed the last part that makes my statement total bs. Of course it isn't funny if you have to explain it  You'll have to forgive me, I'm in the middle of a very boring 12 hour shift.

  6. Sorry, but if we wanted week old news, we could look in local news archives. As a former employee of a mostly student-run UA news organization (The Buchtelite), I appreciate the effort, but The Buchtelite, ZTV, etc. never provide up to date news.

Personally, I still enjoy this info being posted.
