  1. Nothing indicates that he has actually sold anything. He signed for a package, and was promptly arrested. If he has been selling, I think it would have been listed with the other charges we've heard.
  2. Wait a second, so you could just ship a box full of pot to someone without warning, and if they accept it without knowing what's in it they get arrested?
  3. How is them wearing that any different that any other day?
  4. Compared to this, Diggs being suspended for the whole season is absurd.
  5. Not looking good, if what I heard is true.
  6. Heard a rumor that we have a recruit coming over from England. Anybody else hear anything about this?
  7. I believe he's coming in as a RB.
  8. I think the biggest benefit would come simply from a change in local perception. As things are right now, Akron, Can't, BG, Ohio, Miami, and Toledo are lumped together as one craptastic entity known as "the MAC schools." We have a chance to differentiate ourselves, and that's worth it even if it's a lateral move in terms of competition.
  9. How many big donors are out there right now that have to settle for sitting in the lower bowl with the rest of the crowd because they have no other option? What about university officials? Does anybody not think that Proenza, Tressel, and Wistrcill would rather have suites to host VIPs?
  10. If they keep building, competition will drive the prices down. Right now, modern living space near campus is at a premium.
  11. Exactly. Any perceived low demand for off-campus housing comes from students' reluctance to live in 100-year old homes in the ghetto. Replacing them with something modern solves that problem.
  12. Quentin Hines has been putting up numbers that would have made him the top RB at the Combine.
  13. Possible late commit from RB Johnnie Martin out of Hargrave Military Academy.
  14. Craft gets up for big games, just like his teammates. Just like Akron, they play to the perceived level of their competition. The players would not take Akron seriously, no matter how much Thad Matta might try to talk us up to them while preparing for the game.
  15. Nice. That means that the Women play at 2:30 and the Men play at 6:30 next Friday, guaranteed. Sounds like Zips fans will need to set up camp at the Q, with a short interlude at the downtown bars.
  16. The demand for on-campus housing does not sirectly correlate to the demand for off-campus housing. if anything, off-campus housing is more in demand thanks to a less restrictive set of rules.
  17. Accessibility for a season ticket base that's 80% octogenarians.
  18. If that was basketball-only, the seating angle would be lower because you would stretch the seats toward the court.
  19. Look at pictures of arenas with a seating arangement of a single tier. The seating angles are always shallow. The lower seats are at a low angle regardless of how many tiers you have, but with a single tier the upper seats are at the same low angle as the lower ones.
  20. unfortunately, UNCA and CSU got demolished earlier today.
  21. Have you noticed that every picture trying to market the Peterson Event Center tries to hide that part? It's because it looks like crap.
  22. Tomorrow marks the beginning of March Madness with conference tournaments kicking off. Both the Big South and the Horizon league have their first rounds, and Akron has some major RPI-related stakes in both of them. Cleveland State plays at UIC in the Horizon League first round. A win really helps there. Also, UNC-Asheville plays Longwood and Coastal Carolina hosts Liberty in the first round of the Big South tournament. Both are favored tomorrow. Conference tournaments can be great RPI boosters because in general every time you advance, you play an opponent with a better record.
  23. No concourse/mezzanine areas overlooking the court or cutting into one of the sides or ends. It contributes to an open/empty feeling, even when the seats are packed. Same with a wall on one end like the Wolstein Center, or low seating angles with a single level like NIU's arena. Same with an extremely high ceiling like Ohio's Convo. They all feel way too open, too airy, and empty even with a sellout crowd. I want opponents to see a wall of fans in every direction, going up at a steep angle, all the way into the rafters.
  24. Now you're talking. An arena without suites is not an arena we should consider building.
  25. That would be a problem if you thought that Akron wasn't going to also improve from year one to year two. The players know what they're doing this spring. Compare that to last year when they didn't even have an off-season weight training program to follow and no idea what they playbook looked like to practice on their own.
