  1. ESPN has him ranked at the #17 Center in the country. "Clay demonstrates good athleticism as a run blocker. Has the size for the center position at the major level of competition but could benefit from an off season conditioning program which would allow him to redistribute some of his body mass. Does a good job getting the ball up quickly..."
  2. Finally, a more upbeat preview. We *might* get to 6 wins, according to CFN.
  3. This is why Wikipedia is not a good source for doing research. Where's UCSB? Wake Forest? Akron?!? Stanford, Seattle, and Messiah College should be replaced by the three above. I'm really getting tired of being crapped on by the USNWR.
  4. New Offer: RB Tyler Williams Hopefully we'll see a bunch of new offers and maybe a verbal or two popping up soon, now that we have completed our Senior Camps for high schoolers this past week.
  5. Yet another "we might not suck some time in the distant future" prediction.
  6. Memorial Hall is up for sale. Well, at least the seats are. If anyone can figure out a way to hook them up to the bleachers in the JAR, you could finally be comfortable while watching a basketball game.
  7. As far as who is funding it, it's a 100% private venture, by the same guy who owns the lofts there. He might get some tax breaks from the city, but that's pretty standard.
  8. If it's built right, it will be a boon to the city. It needs to have multiple business-oriented facilities like conference rooms. Things that the current downtown hotel is too outdated to provide. It also needs an easier way to get pedestrians to downtown. Maybe a staircase leading up the wall that's north of Perkins or maybe a city-run elevator. It would connect the Northside to Downtown and that can only benefit both areas.
  9. I think they missed Nicely & Allen, but that's probably it. You know their story better than the writer does, so are you really missing anything? Then again, maybe the writer doesn't feel Akron has a top QB, RB, WR, TE or K!?!? Hopefully the team changes his mind by the end of the season. The idea behind the QB and RB position ratings is to rate the relative strengths of all the teams in the conference. If they felt like we didn't have a good player at those positions, they could have put us at 13th. Everyone here knows that Nicely and Allen aren't the worst QB and RB in the conference. Not by a long shot. I also think LaFrance deserves some kind of mention.
  10. We've been complacent for too long. Screw CFN. I started a thread on their forums to complain. I doubt they'll read it but if they try and point out a lack of interest, we can point to that if enough of us show that we care.
  11. Quarterback Running Back Receivers Tight Ends Kickers There seems to be something missing...
  12. New offer: OT Brandon Jackson
  13. In the 3rd round to San Antonio? The only MAC player in the mock draft. Not even anyone from BG or Toledo.
  14. Marriott to be built in the Northside district.
  15. Yes it goes on and on, my friends. Some people started playing it, not knowing what it was. Now there stuck playing it forever because... 53-52 tennis set at Wimbledon, still ongoing. It's on ESPNU. It started yesterday and they've been going non-stop since about 11:00 AM.
  16. It almost certainly started in Africa, but never gained mainstream recognition anywhere else until the World Cup. But there are plenty of pictures available that show the Rowdies using the horns last year and the year before.
  17. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1096540#88 Rivals has us at #88. At least it's not a "wait till next year" deal. I do hope we're better than predicted. We can't afford not to be.
  18. Yep. Bleachers are gone. There is a concrete drainage ditch surrounding the field now, and they also just poured some kind of concrete platform all along the top of the east hill, about 12 feet wide. I can't figure out what it's supposed to be and it doesn't appear in the renderings.
  19. I guess it doesn't matter what they think. But what if watching the world cup gives other fan groups the same idea? NIU fans are trying to organize 20,000 of them to be handed out at each of their football games.
  20. My source would be ESPNRise. http://rise.espn.go.com/boys-soccer/articl...ommitments.aspx Also, Top Drawer Soccer says that we have a 4th verbal for 2011: Kyle Culbertson. Don't know what high school he attends, but he plays for the Columbus Crew Academy.
  21. I'm kind of disappointed that vuvuzelas are now firmly planted in the nation's mind when they think of soccer. Last year, the AK_Rowdies had the same thing, on a smaller scale and only during certain times of the game. They worked wonderfully against the opposition. But now if they tried to break them out for a game, everyone will falsely assume they got the idea from the World Cup. Now they have to come up with something original and unique once again. Dr. Proenza getting into the spirit:
  22. New offer: QB Joe Licata
  23. Linhart graduated before Trapp was a freshman. And the club is the youth club that they play for. It's usually more important than what high school they go to. Like AAU in basketball.
  24. Akron already has three verbals for 2011. Name Pos. Hometown High School Club Andy Chiu F El Paso, Texas Coronado Texas Fire Brian Gallego D Kinnelon, N.J. Kinnelon New York Red Bulls William Trapp MF Gahanna, Ohio Lincoln Columbus Crew
  25. Sullivan is heading to Lakeland CC to play close to home for one year, and will then try to get back into a D-I college for two more years.
