  1. tried to post this topic but not sure if it will get approved by your moderator ...but if you want to see some video highlights from last nights game check out www.VCURamNation.com ...we try and show the games how they really went (so Akron Highlights and VCU lowlights included). We are just a bunch of VCU fans who put this site together so we don't have a Chris Berman calling the dunks and stuff, but hopefully it will do...
  2. www.VCURamNation.comWe're obviously biased but we definitely try and show how the game went so it includes a ton of Akron buckets, VCU turnovers, etc. Give it a look and also good luck to you guys this year. We live in an RPI world so i will be pulling for you guys to win the MAC...which I think is within reach if little Hitchens and Linhart play as good as they did at times last night (Linhart has a nasty floater).Good luck.
  3. Both our teams played poorly today. Maybe that's how people play at 11AM, who knows.I've seen a lot of ref hating...but if VCU had shot 28% my finger wouldn't be pointed at the refs (we both shot 17 free throws as well, no clear advantage on that one). Also, only 4,098 people there? Apparently they told people to wear their PJs but I guess they forgot to tell them they had to wake up once they got there because the place looked fairly dead on TV.I'll be pulling for you guys to get W's over Ohio and Can't State. Good luck Zips.Oh and also, thought your Coach did a good job on Maynor. The double team up top was very smart. Glad we saw that now for the first time instead of in the CAA or NCAA tournament.
  4. Always happy to get a win, but I thought we looked terrible today (both our teams). I've seen a couple of folks blame it on the refs, but I know if VCU had shot 28% today...my finger would be pointed in a completely different direction. Both teams shot 17 free throws, don't see a clear advantage there. If I were an Akron fan ...there would have been 4,098 +1 Zips fans in the house..which to me is another reason why I think we got a 5 point win over you guys today. On TV atleast..the place seemed pretty tame. Apparently the promo was for people to wear the PJs to the game...I think they forgot to tell them that they had to wake up once they got there because the place looked pretty dead. Thought you guys did a good job guarding Maynor. Double teaming him up top was pretty creative, don't think he's ever seen that before but I'm glad it happened now instead of in the CAA or NCAA tournament. Think our coaches will have him ready if that happens again down the road (which I'm sure it will). Not the best game in my opinion. I have a feeling we are both better than what we saw this morning.
  5. what up gang.Another VCU fan here (also host a VCU podcast at vcuramnation.com ..we had Kyle Whelliston on recently, check it out!)This should be a good game, hopefully it won't be, but you guys are mighty tough at home (and on the road for that matter). I honestly haven't seen you guys play this year, but on paper the Zips look pretty consistant. Worst losses were @ Winthrop by 10 and @ Can't State by only 6? Not bad at all. I really hope our boys play up to their potential. We all know what Maynor can do, I think more people are starting to know what Shuler can do...but if people get to see our young guys play to their potential ...Sanders, Rodriguez, and Kearse, we are gonna be a tough out against any team in this year's NCAA tournament. Sanders has played organized hoops for only 4 years I am told...but he's cracked our starting lineup as a freshman, and he's tied for 14th in the nation in blocks/game while averaging only 15 minutes on the court. He contributed his most minutes of the season just the other day against Towson (26) and turned that into 7 blocks (as well as 11 points and 8 boards). Kearse had some virus that apparently causes severe fatigue, which kept him from playing/practicing at times this season.. but when he's healthy he's been a scoring machine as a freshman. Scored 11 in only 19 minutes in that same game against Towson, had 17 in only 20 minutes at Hofstra a couple of games before that. Anyway, I'm bragging a bit about our guys here but the moral is I think this will be a nail biter. Let's hope both our teams can keep the wins comin in prior.
