They got quite a bit of field work to do before they get to laying the turf. But, per our resident posters who took the tour they said they'd start working on the field the end of April. equipment on the north end should be gone relatively soon. They're nearly halfway done, if not farther, with the brickwork. All this work recently is really making me excited!!Thanks for the info.It looks like they're closing in on finishing the brickwork on the endzone facility from the top where I can see the brickwork from the cam.I'm thinking a lot of that equipment will be gone by next weekend.Wow, that brick work look very nice! This stadium is going to be FREAKING AMAZING!!! Nobody, I mean NOBODY in the MAC will even come close to this place!!! I'm really getting excited!!NO Can't's is 100x nicer they just built a scoreboard and a pressbox roof thing??? do your research hahaha

I really hope Notre Dame doesn't go to the Big10, and honestly I don't think they ever will. Paterno suggested Rutgers, Syracuse, and Pitt, which in my opinion are way to weak for the Big10. We could easily beat Rutgers, we crushed 'cuse last year, and Pitt has their ups and downs. If I had to pick the perfect team for them to add, I would say West Virginia they have one of the biggest fan bases in the Big East and are pretty strong most of the time. Also, not that it is important at all, but I have noticed that every school, with the exception or Northwestern is named for the state its in, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, etc...so why not West Virginia haha I mean teams like that tend to have a fanbase that covers the whole state...

Make that 4 people and there are umpteen million ways the university could make money......and don't!make it 5!...akron is so far behind other schools on the amount of merchandise they sell. I'm sure I could find just about anything in the world i wanted with a freaking OSWHO logo on it...I want one of these for akron with my name and picture on it!!!!for anyone who doesn't know its a "Personalized NCAA CD! They do that every year...such a weak schedule and then everyone thinks they are so good because they only lost 1 game...No they don't.They're defending Big 10+1 champions and came within a FG of going undefeated. They lost by two TD's to SC in the Rose Bowl.Alabama was supposed to be on this year schedule. But, Bama backed out and they filled the hole with Costal Carolina last year and Akron this year. It would have been Bama, Oregon St, Syracuse and Temple last year. But, instead remove Bama and insert Costal Carolina. Akron would not have been on schedule this year had Bama not backed out of the contract. Bama did reschedule the games for later. Before you pick on Penn St non conference slate. I suggest you take a look most of the big boys non conference games. You want talk about every year. Florida your defending National Champions has not played a non conference game outside of the State of Florida since 1992.well florida's non-conference schedule included Miami, Hawaii, Citadel, And Florida State...with the exception of the Citadel those teams aren't bad, 2 ACC teams and Hawaii who went to the SugarBowl the previous season. I would say that Penn State's schedule would've been more respectable if they did have Alabama, but they had Coastal Carolina from the FCS. They also played in the Big10 which has really been a disappointment recently. The previous year they had Notre Dame, but opened against Florida International, but also played Buffalo and Temple. I still feel that they will always be overrated. If they would have played say Florida, Georgia, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, etc they would have lost by a lot, similar to the USC game. Even though the Big10 had a few ranked teams, their bowl wins show that it has been weak compared to other conferences.Maybe I'm a bit biased because I am from PA and HATE PennState because of their obnoxious fans and teams filled with criminals.

The rendering on page 15 of the premium seating brochure shows brick on the walls surrounding the field (and on the scoreboard structure, which someone previously mentioned).Premium seating brochurei like the picture of calvin johnson in the suite rendering...I hope we have a lot of photos in the suites of players from other colleges! maybe some Can't, OSWHO, USC, and Texas photos......not

I am currently a sophomore, majoring in Graphic Design here at the University of Akron. I'm sure some people have seen some of my work here on this site, in the uniforms thread and other areas. I'm just looking for any information about getting an internship in the marketing dept. for the 2009-2010 school year. well to be fair some of the cheers are kind of lame. I mean the "you can't do that" cheer is used all over the country, by every school and it just comes across as lazy. They need to think of some new and unique cheers to start. I joined the rowdies my freshman year, and I was really disappointed. I went to a high school where we had hundreds of students in our cheering section, our cheering section would fill up 3 sections at the rubber bowl. I know sometimes when I was with the rowdies there would be 2 different cheers going on, i mean come on, thats just sad! You want people to get involved and make the rowdies great, that needs to start at the top. Make a better cheering section, and people will cheer! If we're in there and 5 different cheers are going on, ya we can't go along with all of them. I'm hoping that it gets better at the Info, but who knows....ps idk who does all the canada stuff when buffalo comes to town, but buffalo is not in canada and that really doesn't make any sense?? they're not canadians...the Z-I-P-S is a direct rip off of O-H-I-O, and I hate OSHWHO so that needs to stop tooi'm sorry but it wasn't a complete attack of the rowdies, but you need to know why people don't want to get involved...stealing cheers and lame antics are not going to get people excited....I have a feeling I was the cheering section across from you VMD McDowell Trojan? haha if so your cheering section was just as good! we put the rowdies to shame, you have to admit it.

We should work out something with the akron zoo and have kangaroo exhibit at the stadium. I mean would never suggest having it on the field, thats not safe, but keep in a secure area, similar to the ray tank they have at tropicana field!it would be great draw to get more families to come, their kids can go look at the real live zippys!!!!!

...And with only one being on the East stands.... everyone at home watching on TV will get to see it.omg I know and imagine if we ever had a game on like espn, with the lower bowl seating only being 20rows you will see the ribbon boards a ton! can't wait for a night game and a zips touchdown with those boards flushing and rowdies going nuts! thats football!!!

that would be ridiculous if we had ribbon boards on both sides! Not many college stadiums have that, if any? It will really make this the best in the country!!!

i think the band should come onto the field from the north endzone building, the same tunnel the zips will enter from. Make a "human tunnel" a row of ppl on each side and have the team run out in between the two rows.

Maybe the scoreboard will be better to be steel, It might make it easier to expand in the future?? I never really liked the flags in the first place. I mean they are kind of pointless and I don't want to go to the nicest stadium in the country and have to see Can't, BG, Toldeo, and the rest of the mac teams flags. I've seen it done before, several basketball arenas have that, the MAC Center in Can't, Polumbo center at Duquesne, just the first two i could think of. But I mean put a few akron flags up and that will be just fine. The banners look ok, but also, kind of pointless....

Well Zips fans that i know that are also Suckeyes fans always say that they root for them because "they are close to us". So i'm rooting for Pitt now as my second team since they are 15 miles closer than Cowlumbus. So as much as i hate the steelers, The University of Pittsburgh is my new second fav school just to piss those people off. Hey it's closer!I'm a Shawnee state man myself.. As much as I hate rooting for a team from Sh*tsburgh I go with the Dukes of Duquesne University (as you can see in my sig), since I had a girlfriend that went there, probably the most nerdy school you will ever experience. idk if maybe all times I've been there they were having a chess convention or something, or maybe thats just the way they are there. I still root for them haha. Buts it always nice to steal their recruits...McNess!!!

OMG I know...can the people that run this site do like they do with Can't=Can't, make Pittsburgh=Sh*tsburgh haha. Ok well I don't mean to go off topic but yes fair weather fans are the worst and Sh*tsburgh fans are the prime example. Growing up in Erie, PA I have see them come out of no where. Back when Kordell Stewart and Maddox ran that team you couldn't find a steelers fan anywhere, then all of a sudden they all show up with their die-hard lifetime obnoxious fan attitudes. Same with the penguins, a few years ago the team was so bad and no one cared, the actually wanted to move them! now everyone loves them and they claim they always have! If anyone doubts me, just wait until hell freezes over and those Pirates actually start doing good, and you'll see thousands of Pirates fans come out of nowhere. OSWHO and PSWHO are fans no different, they win a few games and everyone goes to their local wal-mart and buys a crappy $10 knock-off jersey. Maybe someday people will jump on the Akron band wagon and we can actually fill some seats! Hopefully that will come next year with the awesome stadium!

i'm sure we'll be under "others receiving votes" for the Overall Top 25. I know a few year back we were, and last years team made it to the national tournament, so I don't see why not. As long as we get votes, we'll be able to move up and potentially get a national ranking, we just need a STRONG start and play some respectable teams, maybe Sh*tsburgh and Dayton again???. NO losses to Eastern Kentucky, Rhode Island, and VCU next year...PLEASE!!!!

We definitely need to institute these at the new soccer stadium -- just like they have at Old Trafford! (That's ManU, folks)that would be sweet, I was watching the Seattle Sounders play on ESPN and saw they had ribbon boards all the way around the sidelines, It looks really cool but in my opinion it might be too much money to spend...I was actually joking. There are only a minority of Major League Soccer stadia which have the electronic boards installed, where the backward folks still have the advertising humps, like in American football. Home Depot was first. Not sure if even all the soccer-specific stadiums in MLS have them yet. But -- go to Europe and virtually every joint, including all the English Premier League and I think even the Championship (UK second division) clubs sport them, all the way down to the Athletic Bilbaos (La Liga Espanol) of the world. I bet the increase in ad revenue would pay for them in short time. Your eyes are like totally drawn to them -- it even tends to distract for the game on the pitch.haha I knew you were joking. I mean they won't even pay for ribbon boards for the whole Info, i could never see them paying for soccer
