  1. If the Zips ever get Revis & company to play for them and we are playing against Tom Brady, I'll advocate the 3-3-5 for a week. Bet the Jets don't play most of the time in the 3-3-5 this week. Ben will never have to pass and the Steelers will win 21-9. Jets D will be about getting pressure on Steelers patchwork offensive line. Rex Ryan is good at attacking a team's weakness.

  2. You do realize, nobody was in this position last year. We had no person that focused on the secondary. Our defensive coordinator was also in charge of the secondary, we now have somebody that can focus with this group. NFL teams are even hiring secondary assistants, that's how Darren Perry started his coaching career. I'm excited about the hiring after watching our secondary last season. What we were doing was not working, I'm glad there was a change.

  3. I'm not sure what your arguing?

Can you help me? Please fill in the following sentence "With the hiring of Tony Bouie, the Zips secondary will be ________"

    My answer is: "better"

PS Fascinating that all those secondary's that you think "stink" in the NFL are in the top 9 in total defense in the NFL.

PSS You think Cromartie is a better DB than Asomugha?

  4. Jason Taylor picks himself to win on CBS Show?, Marino continues to clear up why he doesn't have a ring on his finger.

PS While he was in studio I hope JT got to ask Cowher the same question I got to ask him back in '97 "Did you even consider drafting Jason Taylor?"

Turns out if Cowher traded his whole draft that year for JT it would have been a better draft class. No wonder Cowher got Tom Donahoe fired!

  5. I wouldn't count Legursky since he played at Marshall after they left the MAC (and Briggs is close at UCF so I'm not sure there), but the thing I think is impressive is that 10 current MAC schools are represented plus Marshall (and maybe UCF). The only schools not to have a player on any of the four rosters are Temple, Ball State and Ohio.
Legursky played one year in the Mac and was recruited while Marshall was in the Mac, so I counted him. You can discount him if you like. Briggs played at Bowling Green, if you are referring to Bigsby at UCF, yes he played in the MAC and was all Mac in 2002 and 03. Maynard was all Mac at Ball State '94, '95 and '96!

Side note: Two of those I mentioned weren't born in this country. Mac recruiting...it's a chore.

  6. Great former players often don't make great coaches.
And a lot of times they do. Here are just four examples (guess what they have in common):

Jon Hoke played in the NFL and now coaches the Bears secondary

Darren Perry played in the NFL and now coaches the Packers secondary

Ray Horton played in the NFL and now coaches the Steelers secondary

Dennis Thurman played in the NFL and now coaches the Jets secondary

One of these guys will win a Super Bowl.

Tony Bouie (far right) will help the Zips be a better team.

  7. (1) Jason Taylor is the only Mac player on the Jets.

    (9) Atari Bigby, Diyral Briggs, Tom Crabtree, Josh Gordy, Cullen Jenkins, Greg Jennings, TJ Lang, James Starks and Frank Zombo represent the Mac for the Green Bay Packers.

    (3) Brad Maynard, Chester Taylor, and Garret Wolf play for da Bears.

    (7) Charlie Batch, Antonio Brown, James Harrison, Byron Leftwich, Doug Legursky, Ben Roethlisberger and Shaun Suisham represent the Mac for the Steelers.

Did I miss any, or make a mistake?

Other than Ben (kind of obvious), this Canadian born Mac-man is my pick for, it may come down to this

guy making a play that effects the game the most...say around 10:30 on Sunday night. Stay tuned....

  8. Congrats to JT and his big upset yesterday and his four tackles.

I remember the Hard Knocks episode that he stated he specifically signed with the Jets to get to the SB.

I know a lot of players say this, but he is one game from doing it.

He also gave some good advice that Sanchez followed.

Anybody name other Mac players trying to get to the SB next weekend other than Ben?

Did any Mac player make a bigger play this weekend than the Central Michigan receiver?

  9. Good story. Too bad no evidence of the players that actually complete their college education when signed to this deal were given. I wonder why. Is it that new? It's nice that they offer the chance, but how many take it, or how many will? Is it just a marketing ploy for Adidas? Should be fun to follow the 5 Zips that did sign and see if they take the opportunity given.

  10. I'll go with the questions that I thought that should have been asked at the KD's post game OU press conference.

Do you think our team is more talented than OU? If yes...so much more that we can't beat them?

If no...why is it that we got smoked so bad?

Do you think that OU was more excited to play us than we were to play them? You don't have to give me

specifics but will the Zips have a different game plan when we play them at the end of the season schedule?

Do you anticipate meeting OU at the Q?

  11. I planned on posting the press conference from the game Wednesday, but alas, the HD files did not transfer over correctly. Not sure why that is.
Thanks for stopping by to explain. I was looking forward to the video after I read the the quotes to see how he said what he said. I'm surprised that much more wasn't made out of his comments. Sounds to me that KD took none of the blame and placed it all on the kids. Even if it's true, I'm not a big fan of that in public. For some reason KD gets away with it. Can you see Caleb or Rob saying the same and not getting a major backlash? I'm a KD fan, but I'm not a fan of these comments at a press conference. I would have loved somebody from the press to ask "Coach, do you think you gave your kids the best chance to compete tonight?" & "Coach, if you played these guys next week, what would you do different, or would you do the same and expect different results?"

    KD Quotes

"I'm gonna try to sound positive, but that was bad effort, not very smart, undisciplined, emotion-less early. I can't even judge the second half because we had to scramble back. We just weren't really ready to play. We came out there with no juice."

"We were inconsistent. That's been typical of these guys. One night Zeke's great. The next night it looks like he's never played. And it's not just him."

"Alex got caught up playing Cooper. His dad's at the game. He was trying to do too much

"We got the same damn problems in practice as we got in the game. Alex doesn't guard in practice. How's he going to guard in the game?"

"Am I frustrated? I'm about to choke somebody to be honest."
