  1. That is something I never thought I would hear. Making that kick yesterday was huge for him. He has been very inconsistent all last year and early this year. He lost his job after the first game because he was missing EP's. Now this is ironic. Earlier one of UC's fans said something to the same effect about Zip QB Chris Jacquemain. Now if last year ight about this time a statement like that would have drawn laughter and raised eyesbrows to just about all Zip fans. It just goes to show, these guys are still young men and they mature as FB players at different paces. BTW, your PK's big advantage IMHO is that his balls seem to shoot at a 45 degree angle just about every time he strikes it....great distance AND height. We don't see that from our PK's, particularly the height (although the blocked PK wasn't Igor's fault). Good luck to UC the rest of the year.He has a huge leg and he showed it last year when he hit a 55 yard kick against Oregon State. His problem all in is his head. The coaches said right before the Miami game that they saw a change in attitude from him at practice so they went with him. He hasn't missed a kick the last two games. Hopefully that means he has worked out his issues.

  3. Thanks, I usually visit the opposing team's board prior to a game. You should see my post count on the Oklahoma board. I was well over 100 on there. We were planning on being in the Big East race regardless this year. The other teams struggling certainly gives us a lot more hope. We have a pretty good chance since USF, who plays pretty bad in the cold, comes to Nippert on a short week in late October while we have a bye the previous week. WVU still worries me. They have a lot of talent and even with their current problems, they have the capability to win the conference. We have Pitt and Louisville on the road, and we have not beat either since we joined the Big East, so I am hoping to break that streak. A trip to a BCS bowl in January would be very nice.BTW, I won't be tailgating either. I am stationed at the submarine base in CT and have already used a road trip this year for the Oklahoma game. The only other game I will be at is when we travel to UConn. I may also make a bowl game depending on where it is.
  4. Our athletic department has put this out:Sept. 22, 2008 Time: Sat Sep 27 2008 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM Description: UC Athletics / UC Alumni Association Tailgate PartyLocation: Airport Softball Field parking lot, Corner of Triplett Blvd & Hilbish Ave. (just North of the Rubber Bowl) Akron, OH 44312Tailgate with fellow Bearcat fans before the Bearcats take on the Akron Zips! We encourage you to bring your tailgate supplies and setup by other Bearcat fans in the Airport Softball Field parking lot. Cost of parking $3. Lot is adjacent to the side of the stadium that the UC fan section is on. You are advised not to park in the general lot for fans as this is much farther away due to stadium configurations. The UC Athletics Department and the UC Alumni Association will provide UC giveaways for Bearcat fans in the parking lot. A pep rally will begin at 2:30 PM and will lead fans into the stadium by 3 PM. Walk time from the site to the stadium is less than 5 minutes. To order your game tickets, call 1-877-CATS-TIX.Web Site: https://www.alumniconnections.com/olc/pub/C...p;event=2211930
  5. And the other ten were the result of "phantom" holding calls, I assume? Instead of giving up twenty, you ACTUALLY shut them out? A few other bogus calls really hurt the Bearcats on offense too. The score SHOULD have been 72-0. Nope, the other ten they earned. On third down they kept dumping it to their running back and it took us a while to make the adjustment and stop it. Trust me, the 2 pass interference calls were a couple of the worst I have ever seen.
  6. 10 of Miami's points were directly the result of phantom pass interference calls. Oklahoma is the best team in the nation. They will score 50 or more on a lot of good teams.Out of curiousity, subflea, were the refs in the Victory Bell game Big East or MAC? I assume tomorrow's refs are Big East. Anyone know?BTW, Oklahoma MAY be the best team in the country but I'm thinking the SEC might have a little to say about that before the season's over. They were MAC officials and they had quite a few questionable calls. The SEC teams will beat each other up. I was in Oklahoma for the game, and that was one of the best college football teams I have seen in a long time. The only weak spot I saw was kick coverage. Bradford has a great presence in the pocket and has a ton of weapons around him.

  8. A lot of that optimism also comes from our success on the field the last couple of years. The team is very experienced. We start 11 seniors on defense.
  9. 8,000 is probably too high. I don't want to put a number on it, but we have not always been the best travelling fanbase. We should have good support, but 8k would be outstanding for us.
  10. I think the UC turnout will be good. There are some bus trips lined up and I know a lot of people have said this is a trip they will make.
  11. Jones has not seen the field yet this year. If UC can get out to a big lead I could see either him or redshirt FR Chazz Anderson getting some mop up duty just to get them a little game experience.

  13. His replacement was the starter in 2005 and 2006, and started against Miami(OH) and Marshall last year. He has plenty of experience.
