I agree it's always a possibility, I just wasn't sure if I missed something or if it was just someone throwing something out there.

Why do people think players are transferring out? Just because?

Noah shot two free throws and played one defensive possession after he tore his ACL. Kid is tough.

So... F-Cheatham/Agba/Olojapoke F-Gladden/Kretzer/Jackson C-Forsythe/Johnson G-Williams/McAdams/Ivey G-Robotham/Jackson/Walters. I'd guess Olojapoke redshirts. Agba and Ivey are the wild cards.

4 tranfers coming in or leaving? Either way, not happening.

Tough, tough loss. Noah brought a veteran-like calm to this team. It's tough to see them as the last team standing now, but I'll never count out a Keith Dambrot-coached team either.

I agree with you on most of what you said, but I will say this team has a TON of talented - it's just very raw right now.

Please. KD is just fine here.

The road to a top 4 seed just got a lot tougher after tonight's loss. With many teams above the Zips still having head-to-head matchups, there will still be an opportunity...if the Zips start winning again.

In my eyes the current/recent leaders have overseen the demise of the group, not the early (huge) success of it. I don't believe the creative minds behind the infamous "Stark State" student section invasion, among other great ideas, are still at UA. Just my opinion.

Laugh all you want at that, but the fact remains that not even freaking paying students to come to the game got many more students to come to the game. You think they'll be fighting to get spots to be on a student advisory panel? I'm not saying they can't do one or don't do it, I'm just saying it's easier said than done. I'm also saying that, in my opinion, including the AK-Rowdies leadership group in that panel would be a mistake.

http://www.gozips.com/athletics/ask It took me 3 seconds to Google this. Surely our young, tech-savvy students can find the same information. How many do you think have taken the opportunity to do so? I get that the Athletic Department could do more to reach out to students, but it's got to be tough when the majority of students are so damn apathetic to the program(s) in the first place.

If this is a new set of students? Absolutely. If this is the AK-Rowdies leadership group? I just can't support their involvement because I don't know what you'd gain. Their having any sort of power and their way of running things haven't worked. It's time for new ideas.

Akron has been among the final two teams standing in Cleveland in seven of the last eight years. Do we lose some important games? Sure. Do we win more important games than we lose? The results don't lie. I'm not sure how it was dumb to put Walters on Juice...he defended the play as well as you can defend it, Brown just hit the tough shot.

This year. But it happened for several years before that. The damage is done. The issue now is many students think they cannot sit down low unless they are a member. And just last year I heard of folks getting their student IDs scanned and not being given a wristband, despite those same seats being given to people who have long graduated and are no longer students. It is what it is, The Rowdies can continue to be a diminishing presence at games or they can take a tough look in the mirror and figure out how to be more inclusive. Hopefully they choose the latter.

You're assuming all of these students want to take these bus trips. Given the student attendance at football and basketball home games, I think we need more focus on filling our own seats first. It is pretty simple - current student support is mediocre (at best). When it's clear the current situation isn't working, it's imperative to look at possible changes. While marketing is the primary issue, I do feel rebranding the student section is another step needed. Give it a catchy name, get a sponsor to print some shirts, and invite ALL students to sit down low. The average Akron student just doesn't seem to want to be an AK-Rowdy.

Bingo.

I'm saying there shouldn't be a fee. Shirts should be provided by the athletic department. Bus trips should be paid for by individuals interested in each trip. Listen, here's the ugly truth - we have difficulty drawing current students to our student sections at games FOR FREE. Adding in any type of fee, even a small one, is downright silly. It's interesting that the word control is being talked about with UA in regard to the Rowdies because it seems the same problem exists with the Rowdies leadership in regard to the general student population. Kind of ironic.

This is my major problem with the Rowdies as a whole. Why is there or was there ever a membership fee? We struggle to draw students in the first place and then we charge to be a part of the student section? That's just silly. The athletic department needs to buy t-shirts to give to students sitting down low, we need to stop making it an exclusive group, and start opening the doors for any and all students to be a part of it all. With all due respect, I believe that is why there has been a dramatic fall in the Rowdies, not Caleb Porter or Athletics putting the clamps on.

There are two main non-basketball issues when it comes to attendance. 1) Marketing. Name one thing the Marketing Department has put together for basketball this season. You'll have a tough time because there isn't anything. Even the fact that Tuesday home games are Dollar Hot Dog nights has never been, to my knowledge, promoted. The Social Media Rewards site has died, there have been no promotional giveaways, there have been no special nights created by marketing...it's like there isn't even a marketing department. Seriously, as another poster said, someone from UA needs to have dinner with Ken Babby and see how to stir up some excitement about a product. 2) The AK-Rowdies. The group needs to disband. I know it won't happen because nobody has the guts to make it happen, but it really does. I'm not going to pretend like I know the current setup of the Rowdies. I do know that students view it as a group that you have to join, which is why so many of them sit up ton in the GA seats. Whether or not they still require a special shirt or membership to sit down low (I hope not - that decision started the decline of the group), the perception is that it's not an inclusive group. Rename the student section, offer tons of freebies to students WITHOUT making them register for anything, and start fresh. The Rowdies have run their course.
