  1. It appears Tree won't be getting a shot and Zeke is doing more gaming than hooping right now, so we are likely looking into the future for the next possible Zip in the NBA. Here's the question: Who has the best shot of making it and why? Or is there not a player on the roster you think has a shot?
  2. I was trolling you.
  3. Incorrect.
  4. Then what is it?
  5. I don't agree at all. Do you think the Power 5 give a crap about fairness to a mid-major program? They've gone out of their way to make sure a mid-major doesn't get in. Marshall went 13-1 last year and was 11-0 at one point before losing in overtime to Western Kentucky. Do you really think they would have been considered for the Playoff, or that the Power 5 would have been so worried about it (or worried about it at all) to immediately expand the Playoffs? It'd be thrown out as an anomaly, a product of a weak schedule, or something else.
  6. Here's why I think it's difficult for people to care. Let's say the Zips have a magical year. Beyond magical even - let's say they go undefeated. They beat Oklahoma, they beat Pitt again, they dominate the MAC, and they go 13-0. As MAC Champions, they would look to stay undefeated in a Bowl Game. They could potentially find themselves in a major bowl game, but more than likely they'd be headed to the Bahamas Bowl. They would not be considered for the College Football Playoff. Let me repeat that - the ultimate prize if literally everything goes right and they have the best season in program history is the Bahamas Bowl. That, my fellow Zips fans, is why it's difficult for the average fan in Akron to get excited about the football team. Nobody cares about the Bahamas Bowl. Like all but 20-25 D1 teams, the Akron Zips football team has been eliminated from contention for the 2015-2016 National Championship before the season has even started. In comparison, a great season by Zips soccer will place them in the NCAA Tournament. Same goes for men's basketball. While they'd have to fight (likely) crappy seeding and might have odds stacked against them (mostly in basketball), they'd have a chance to win a National Championship. That's why I'm not opposed to Division II. Playing to have a shot at the D2 National Title is better than the Bahamas Bowl. It might even add a little excitement along the way.
  7. So 92.3 made up a rumor? Shocker.
  8. I keep hearing big things about Jimond Ivey, so this is going to be interesting. I would say Forsythe and Robotham (if healthy) are locks to start. I expect Jake to start as well. We can debate the merits of that, but I expect it to happen. I think Antino will get a ton of time at the 2 this year and finish a lot of games, but won't necessarily start. I think KD will want him to play a Quincy Diggs-type role off of the bench. I expect Josh Williams to start instead. I also expect Kwan to start. So, my way-too-early depth chart guess as of right now: Cheatham/Jackson Kretzer/McAdams Forysthe/Johnson Williams/Ivey Robotham/Jackson Peter Agba is my sleeper - I'm not sure what the coaches have planned for the freshmen on the roster but if they decide to play one, I think it will be Peter.
  9. Schedule debate is getting right up there with the inbound-play debates and my personal favorite, the "we need a go-to scorer" debate.
  10. Man, how fun is it going to be to watch Robotham, Jackson, Williams, and Ivey?
  11. Are we playing "who is facing the worst team" or "who has the better schedule"? Two different arguments IMO.
  12. "More desirable" and "better" are the same in the context of the debate, at least in my view. Thanks.
  13. I did. Maybe someone can explain because that seems like the suggestion being made to me.
  14. The argument is that Detroit's schedule is better than Akron's? Am I clicking on the right link? Did we mistake Dearborn for Michigan because of the logo?
  15. Also: Romeo Travis, Jeremiah Wood, Chris McKnight - all under 6'8".
  16. Bowden plays by a different set of rules than KD and everyone else because they are so desperate to put butts in seats at Infocision.
  17. Diggs' situation is similar to this one and Treadwell only in that it resulted in being suspended from sports.
  18. There's the BJ Gladden replacement. 1. Kretzer 2. McAdams 3. Forsythe 4. Johnson 5. Cheatham 6. Aaron Jackson 7. Antino Jackson 8. Robotham 9. Ivey 10. Williams 11. Agba 12. Olojakpoke 13. Utomi
  19. Gary Parrish ✔ @GaryParrishCBS Follow Bobby Hurley has emerged as a serious candidate at Arizona State, sources told @CBSSports. Some sources have identified him as the leader. 8:28 PM - 8 Apr 2015
  20. Yep, not at all surprised either. No offense to Malcolm, but let's hope we don't have to play our walk-on PG next year.
  21. Malcolm Walters is transferring, per Prep Scouting. THE CURSE OF THE ZIPS CONTINUES.
  22. I can't remember where I saw it but I do know PrepScouting.com listed him. I think just speculation though.
  23. We bring up a lot in ZN :-) When someone provides something more than slinging crap against the wall to see if anything sticks, I'll be concerned.
  24. For players not getting enough PT/not liking their role. That's not Noah Robotham.
  25. There has been no indication whatsoever that Noah is leaving.
