  1. That is music to my ears. I think the Zags will be shocked at how many anti-Gonzaga fans they'll be in the stands rooting on Akron as the underdog. They seem to forget the majority of fans at this venue are Washington fans and Portland natives. Portland hosts schools such as University of Portland(Zag rival) and Portland State(beat Gonzaga earlier this year). Gotta be a pleasant surprise to Zip fans.
  2. As a Washington Husky alum, it pains me to say it, yet the Zags have one of the best student sections I've ever seen including any Pac-10 games I've attended. Their student section seats 1200+ students and they've sold every student ticket to every game for the past 6 years or so. Pretty impressive considering their student body is around 4,000. As you noticed from the video, it was against lowly San Francisco. You should see what they do when we(UW) come to town . Beat the Zags!
  3. I believe the slipper is going to fit a Zip quite nicely. The Zags haven't seen a defense like the Zips all year. Trust me, they're over-confident and under-prepared for you. They didn't even practice today, only dunk contests, half-court shots, and soaking up media attention. I was there and the two teams were night and day while on the court. You guys looked loose, focused, and attentive. The Zag players looked like their heads were still riding high in Vegas. I believe its Akron's time to shock the World and it starts tomorrow with Gonzaga. Your young players are tenacious, head strong, and skilled and your veterans are tough and smart. While you might be overmatched from a talent perspective at many positions, it won't matter in a one-in-done scenario because your team/players are more focused and ready for this moment. You play in a stronger conference and just won 4 games in 4 days to win the MAC Conference Championship. Akron has the ability to compete and beat anyone, anytime, anywhere. You have the momentum rolling...now its time to steamroll the Zags!Gonzaga won't know what hit'em.
  4. As a Zag fan, this is disappointing to hear. I prefere a more focused, intense, business-like approach to these games, more along the lines on how your young team is evidently handling this experience. This group of Gonzaga players are supremely talented as individuals, yet can be overconfident and headcases on occasion. I hope this isn't the case this time around. Its good to stay loose and have fun, but save that for the playground. The dunking and half-court shots were cute in high school and seems in poor taste. From the sound of it, Illinois and Akron appear composed, focused, and ready to play. The Zags just seem like a bunch of goofs and treating it like its a pick-up game or something. They seemed WAY too casual during the press-conference as well.Given how composed your team is, I'm beginning to think that the Akron Zips are going to be shoe shopping sooner than later...for a slipper that fits.
