I understand. I would do the same. But it won't matter. Temple hasn't beaten us in 68 years and we play almost every year.
-
Hey congrats on the win today Zips fans. 41-0 is a good start for your new stadium. PSU looked sloppy today but we were in control. I'm not too worried. We fumbled at the 16 which is the only reason Cuse scored. Good Luck you guys.

I don't think they do the cat sound a whole lot anymore. Or maybe it is just because I have had season tickets for years so I just don't even notice it anymore. But trust me it is not as bad as being at a Florida State game. They do the tomahawk chop and the Ohhhhhhh-oh-oh-oh-oh chant after EVERY play. Seriously watch the Miami-FSU game tonight and you'll see what I mean. Good Luck Akron.

MdZip: Oh god you mean by the hospital?!?! That is the worst place to park. I parked there once and it took me like an hour to walk there after the game from my tailgate and the traffic was terrible. I should have let you guys know where to park ahead of time, oh well. It's good to see Zips fans were treated well. I didn't see too many of them so I really couldn't tell if people were saying stuff to them or not. I think you guys really have a good team and you will kill Indiana next week. Good luck.

Thats pretty good analysis there. Although that hit on Clark wasn't that big of a hit. Clark said after the game that he wasn't hit hard at all and that his chinstrap was loose. And he looked at the Akron player going nuts and said "are you serious". But I really think Akron will compete for the MAC championship. They have a solid front 7 and a lot of offensive talent. Honestly I think that your best offensive player is that guy Alex Allen. When he took it outside he was doing some damage. I will continue to root for you guys down the road.
-
You guys shouldn't be that disappointed. You were going up against one of the best teams in the nation in the toughest stadium in America, and you actually put up a fairly respectable score. Obviously your teams offensive game plan was pretty crappy. They weren't throwing the ball at all downfield and they kept running the same stupid running play. But you guys will have a good season. That guy Alex Allen is a stud and he will play on Sundays. And you have some talent on the defensive line. Good luck the rest of the way, you guys will sure as hell beat Indiana.
-
Wow another one. Luckily none of these guys are starters.
-
Keep passing and don't stop. I'm sure you guys have decent running backs but you will not be able to run the ball on us. We always have a great run defense and basically no one could run the ball on us last year. And that includes Chris Wells of Ohio State, and Javon Ringer of Michigan State, and P.J. Hill of Wisconsin. If you aren't familiar with those guys than look up their statistics from last season. But a lot of teams could pass on us. Even teams like Iowa. So that is definitely your best option. Especially with all the experience and talent that you have at receiver.

Buckzip: Were you at the 2006 game? I was at that one, I remember it rained the whole time, it actually was kind of miserable. But I usually have a great time. Honestly if you don't have a tailgate to go to then you will probably have nothing to do before a game in happy valley. Unless you would enjoy checking out the campus, and downtown. PSU fans can be bad sometimes. But I doubt they will say a whole lot to Akron fans. There are only 3 fans bases that I have seen PSU fans treat really badly. Ohio State, Michigan, and Pittsburgh. Although Michigan fans kind of ask for it lol. But I go to the same tailgate for every game and we welcome fans from all teams to come hang with us before the game. Even Akron fans.

Penn State 45 Akron 17I think Akron will score some points early on PSU's defense. Even Coastal Carolina got a first quarter TD on us last year. Unfortunately for them, Derrick Williams took a kickoff to the house on the very next play. We usually struggle early in the game. Just cause of nerves or something. Akron's passing game should be a good test for our secondary. But I don't think Akron will be able to keep up with PSU's offense after a quarter or so. Just my opinion.
-
I'm pretty sure Bowman will playing vs. Akron.
-
How good is your ice cream? I think creamery ice cream is a little overrated.
-
Yeah we have plenty of guys at linebacker. Lee, Bowman, Hull, Gbadyu, Stupar, Colasanti, Zordich. All those guys could come in and do a good job in my opinion. We are probably the deepest team in the nation when it comes to LB. But it really sucks Mauti had to have this setback. He was starting to become the next great PSU linebacker. Hopefully he can start right where he left off in the spring.
-
I was just saying we have high recruits coming in, I never said they were going to be good, but I've heard good things.
-
Yes but we still have loads of talent including Clark, and Royster. The receivers played a ton last season so I am not worried about them. The O-line could be a problem but we will have Wisinewski at center, who is one of the best offensive lineman in the big 10. And Dennis Landolt who could be 2nd or 3rd team in the conference. We have a few highly recruited O-lineman who will be stepping in as well, I'm not sure how well they are going to do but they looked good in the spring game. (I know that doesn't mean a whole lot.) My point is PSU's offense is going to be pretty good this year. Probably not as good as last years but still very good. And if your defense gave up 31 points a game to offenses who weren't that great last year, you could be in for a long day. If Akron wins it will have to be a shootout with a combined 110 points at least. And I'm not sure Akron could keep it up for that long.
-
I see your point Zach, but didn't PSU have one of the best offenses in the country last year? And didn't Akron have one of the worst defenses? Not to mention the difference in competition level. Jus Sayin. Also I haven't heard Wallace is sitting out.
-
I have never heard of Devin Fentress. He wasn't a starter.
-
Well thats my mistake I thought they did go unbeaten.Ohio State has played in 2 NC's in the last 3 seasons. But you are missing the point. At least the big 10 has gotten opportunities to play in the NC. Each time OSU went unbeaten they were in the NC. The MAC and all the other Non-BCS schools haven't gotten any opportunities to play in the NC. 27% is better than 0% don't you think? Obviously it means a lot to win a conference championship. It was a great feeling when we won the big 10 last year, but you try to win your conference for a chance to go on and represent your school and your conference in the National Championship. I wish all conference winners played in a playoff for a chance to win it all, unfortunately it doesn't work like that because of the way too subjective BCS system. No one wants to play in Motor City Bowl.
-
It means a lot because if we do win the big 10 there is a good chance we could play for the National Championship. If you win the MAC you aren't going to play for the National Championship, you are going to play in the International Bowl. Even if you go undefeated which isn't fair.
-
Well. you have the MAC championship I guess. But teams from Non-BCS conferences have no shot to play for the National Championship. Look at Utah last year and in 2004. They went undefeated they didn't play for a national championship. Look at all the years Boise went unbeaten, and when Miami Ohio had Ben Rothlisberger and they went undefeated. They didn't play for an NC. I think teams like Utah, and Boise, and Miami (oh) should be able to play for the NC if they go undefeated. But unfortunately the rules of the BCS don't allow it. So I think all non-bcs schools should move to the FCS so they can actually play for a NC, until we get rid of the BCS and move on to a playoff system so everyone has a shot.
-
Clark didn't run at all in any non conference games last year. All the running plays were with Royster and Green. So if you actually see him run then you are doing something right. 84: I don't know. I guess that strategy is worth a try. But PSU doesn't give up big plays and that is by design, so I don't know if it will work. Even if they do push the secondary back, I still don't think they will be able to run on us. Just too much talent on PSU's defense. They aren't much of a running team anyways. They lost their top rusher from last year. But it may not be a bad idea to try it on the first drive. PSU's defense will obviously be expecting the pass though.
-
I think it may very well be time to cut back or change the system. What is the point of having all the non-bcs conferences? None of those teams have a chance to play for a National Championship. The should just become FCS teams so they actually have something to play for.
-
Hey 84. I agree with the fact that Akron will have to come out throwing. Cause there is no way they will be able to run on Sean Lee, Navorro Bowman, and Jared Odrick. But I don't know if throwing a lot of deep balls is the answer. The big problem with PSU's secondary is that they are always trying not give up the big play. So teams rip them up with shorter passes. Which is what Akron has to do. PSU doesn't give up many big plays.

haha, wow look at this 84 is talking some trash here. Haha, love it!
