Coach Brookhart made it very clear to our recruiting group last January that the MAC was not a big fan of Akron's and that he felt that he and his staff were fighting against the management of the MAC for respect. He also said that the school was having a heard time finding other schools to schedule them following last season.

Hey folks. Since my son is not on the travel squad this season (true frosh) I do not post here much. I did talk with him this morning and asked him about who the team leader is. He said that he felt the best leaders on the team were in the junior class. He did not mention any one player in particular but he said that class had the most respect from the first and second year players. Personally I think that any time you have a transfer as a QB that there will be times when that voice will fail to resonate. That is no ones fault, just a fact. Leadership comes from players who have been through the wars over an extended period of time.

The plans were for a two sided stadium with double decks. Large box on one side of the stadium. One end zone had stand alone seats and the other end zone had a plaza which was next to some other buildings along the street plus a new dorm. They told us that it would be ready for our son's redshirt junior season in 2009.

If I remember correctly the coaches told us it was being named after a friend of the program who was involved in sales of some kind. Sounded like he was a pretty wealthy guy from up around Akron. I do remember one of the coaches saying that he was developing some golf courses as well.

Our family used to live in South Carolina and football game days are really big there. I noticed that some of the discussion on this site was centered on tailgating and thought I could share this site with you. Our son's position coach told us that they will be making a stadium announcement around homecoming. The plans we saw during the recruiting process were amazing.

Our family just visited our son on campus for the first time this past week end and really enjoyed the campus. He is a freshman on the football team and is really enjoying his time with Coach Fleming and the staff. My wife and I both graduated from Muskingum so to us the Akron campus is pretty big. Everything looks new which is one of the reasons why our boy chose Akron.
