  1. I'm telling you guys, don't start talking about '06 just yet!! By a series of events that aren't too far fetched, the MAC East can still fall in our laps this year if we win these last two. Keep cheering and keep showing up. At the very least we can have a winning season for the the 3rd year in a row, something we've never accomplished at the 1-A level.
  2. I've never been that sick after watching a football game in my life. What those refs did was a travesty and the tape should be sent to the NCAA for investigation.
  3. Only 60 players are allowed to travel. If any others want to go, it is on their own dime and they can't suit up. NCAA rules. Everybody travels for Bowl games. The Zips could only take their 60 man travel roster, but that's pretty much unheard of and would look horrible for recruits.
  4. I believe thats the plan, as the older guys will just be working in shorts and helmets while the younger guys scrimmage in full gear.
  5. I appears that the Zips will be holding practice tomorrow at 4PM in the complex, and will be practicing for the rest of the week. Maybe they know something we don't??
  6. My attendance guess for tonight: Great weather for November, a lot bigger game than Marshall with higher stakes, more Miami fans there than Terd fans.....32,000
  7. You lost buddy. You are being sent out of the MAC as a disgraced loser. Deal with it, get over it. Marshall is no longer on the same level as teams such as Miami, BG, Toledo, NIU, or even the Zips for that matter. Don't let the door hit ya where they good Lord split ya.
  8. I'm sure Matt will be a nice addition to someone's practice squad this year if he doesn't make the team, whether it be in Jacksonville or elsewhere.
  9. I'll agree with you that Jabari looked sharp last night. When Charlie leaves, I think it's safe to say, we are not going to have too huge of a dropoff at the quarterback position. The guy is faster than Charlie and I'll agree with you, he might have a better deep ball and as strong of an arm. What he might lack is Charlie's competitive fire and knowledge of the game and ability to react to what's around him. That's what makes Charlie a special quarterback. I watched Chase Blackburn alot at his end spot last night and I was pretty unimpressed. I thought his backup, Sutton, looked better than him coming off the edge and Chase needs to be back at linebacker where he belongs. I also thought Diontre Earl had a pretty mediocre scrimmage, but he's coming off an injury from early spring. Rohr looked the best of the linebackers to me, Dion Elie looked good in the secondary, and I was impressed with Jermaine Reid's play along the line....he could definately be a force up front with his size and speed. Lefall looked like his same old self, looking great on some plays, but taking others off and getting his ass kicked. I don't think he'll ever develop into the great player, or "next Jason Taylor" that we were all hoping for because he simply lacks the dedication and mental toughness. Our biggest problem based on what I saw may be the recievers. Let's face it, Charlie has had one of the best corps in the MAC the past few falls, and this year we are hurting. Not alot of size, no guys with great hands, and I also saw a stunning inability to adjust to the ball, something guys like Cherry and Miquel made into an artform. I hope Chuck gets those guys on the field alot this summer and teaches them how to catch what he throws to them. Overall though, it looks like we're on the right track. It's too early to tell, and I want to see the scrimmage next Saturday, but I think we are fielding a better team and better coached team then we had last fall.
  10. Do you know if any of our current Akron players will be transferring to Ashland?
  11. I'd like to see Vince Vaughns get a shot at the starting RB job this fall. The kid was a prep star in Oklahoma and from what I've heard he's been making some amazing cuts in practice. I wanted to see more of him in the scrimmage last night.
  12. Where did you hear that the Blue-Gold game was closed to the public?? I've heard nothing of that sort. That would be ridiculous if it were true.
  13. I was just wondering if any of you have been out to view spring ball, and if normal fans are allowed to attend and watch if they want to. Are all the practices at the Rubber Bowl, or are they holding a few on campus in the soccer stadium like in the past? Also, I noticed when I was reading the Spring prospectus bio's, the Zips have quite a few players who had fathers play professionally. Hopefully they got the right set of genes and we'll see this on the field!
  14. If the Athletic Department publicizes Charlie Frye the right way and gets some hype going, coupled with an opening day upset of Penn State, and I believe the Zips can easily fill the bowl.
