  1. I heard he had been injured.....
  2. The Women's team beat Pitt 1-0 this afternoon.
  3. So, new field for this 2010 season and stadium for next season? Is that the plan?
  4. I watched that game - he looked good! He made some nice runs, distributes the ball well and plays so effortlessly - fun to watch. The crowd was amazing!!
  5. Well, I wish him the best. From what I see and hear - marketing has been a major disappointment! Let's give him a fair chance.......
  6. For those of us who can't make it to Cleveland state today - let us know how thing go for the zips! Are you also staying for the women's game?
  7. The team is playing some good competition this year. Which I like, you get better by playing better teams! Ohio state, Pitt, UNLV, pre-season game at Michigan.
  8. Looks good!! They are an amazing team to watch. New playing surface this season and hopefully new grandstand, etc. next year. I can't wait for August!!
  9. https://sites.google.com/site/soccerrecruits/If you click on link, scroll to bottom and click on tab that says "by college". You can go to Akron (top of page) and see that he has 5 players already for 2011. Meghan and Lexa are from the same club and are listed in Top Drawer Region Players to Watch. It looks like he has another player from that team too. According to one of the players, they are playing in the UNLV tournament this fall. Maybe this is why they are going out there.
  10. I was checking out Top Drawer Soccer and found that we have 2010 & 2011 recruits on the 'top 20 regional players to watch' list.Regional Top 20 RankingsClass of 2010Great Lakes Region #11 Amber KernNew Jersey Region #14 Kyarah FousheeClass of 2011Rocky Mountain and Southwest Region #9 Lexa Green#11 Meghan BrasciaFor a complete list: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/players-to-...al-top-20/womenI'm impressed with the recruits I am reading about - it seems to me they are bringing in solid players. I look forward to August!!
  11. So, what is the thinking in the SI Dept that they release the women's soccer recruits the same day -- but will probably wait what...a month or more, before showing anything about the nation's #1 program's recruiting class? That is the usual lag time for our men's soccer recruiting info. Who hasn't joined the Big Time?BigSoccer has a college recruiting thread where they bet who would be the first programs to release men's recruit info. Someone said, "I'll take the Zips #1." Bad assumption -- Caleb isn't in control this time. If I had to guess - I think it is probably Caleb's choice to wait so his recruits can have the spotlight instead of sharing it with the football recruits.
  12. Sorry for the typo...don't know how to edit the topic line!!
  13. "This class should provide an effective complement to our returning players, which in all promises to be a really potent blend of skill, speed and athleticism," Pfau said. "This class knows what it takes to compete at the highest level, by virtue of playing for regionally and nationally recognized club programs. In addition, many have been members of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and their ODP and club experiences have exposed them to top-notch coaching and to competition against some of the best players in the country. I’m confident in saying I expect each member of this class to compete for a spot on the team from day one."2010 SIGNING CLASSName - Position - Height - Hometown (Previous School) Taylor Ballard - Defender - 5-6 - Olmsted Falls, Ohio (Olmsted Falls HS) Kelly DeNiro - Midfielder - 5-5 - Columbus, Ohio (Bishop Watterson HS) Paige Foughty - Midfielder/Defender - 5-3 - Murrysville, Pa. 14. I asked that question myself. I guess that the answer was that they wanted a "more intimate" venue for soccer. The info would be to large and never fill close enough to capacity.I also asked why they couldn't just use the info for post-season or high profile matches where the stadium could fill up more. Then someone said they could have, but the lines and markings on the current field wont accommodate the game.So I guess perhaps it's a little lack of fore-sightterrible excuse IMO. We have the #1 ranked soccer team in the country. All it would take is one phone call a couple weeks in advance to have the proper lines added.I don't think the football field provides the width we need....but, I could be wrong.
  15. This went under the radar.....Congrats!!http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPS...TCLID=204830607
  16. I think we need to remember that this team is only in it's 9th season. Until this year - the team has been near the bottom of the MAC - just a fact. If you have actually seen the team play over the 9 years - you will see what better soccer they have been playing over the last season. What has been accomplished on the field has been amazing! As the women's team continues to grow - so will their confidence. When you can consistently play good soccer and win games - you will draw the recruits and build a stronger base for the team, added depth that they need. And by the looks at the recruits listed for 2010 - that is already starting to happen!I like the fact that this team is taking on tough out-of-conference competition. That is how you get better - play better teams! Sure, you can pad your record with wins against mediocre teams - but I'd rather watch them take the challenge.I agree about Heather Rains - she was a leader back there this year. I enjoyed watching her play! The captains and senior class did a good job this year - on and off the field.
  17. I HATE that! So much momentum going into the post-season, then Kersplat! And the fact that it was Miami (MIAMI!) makes it that much worse! Coach Pfau, you have a good group of youngsters, now it's time to reach the next level. 2010 needs to be the club's breakout year. Why isn't this season considered a breakout season? They were picked to finish #11 of 12 in the conference and ended up tied for 2nd. Numerous records were broken during the season. They had never made the conference tournament and not only did they make the tournament, they hosted in the first round. Keep in mind, this post-season game is one that this team was never expected to play! Don't all these accomplishments qualify as a "breakout season?"Instead of dwelling on the loss, let's celebrate the great season and the future of the Women's soccer program!
  18. How great - tied for 2nd in the MAC in the final standings, and 3rd seed in the tourney. Now on to Sunday - we need to pack the stands for the Miami game!!
  19. A nice little article.....http://www.ohio.com/sports/65957382.html
  20. The women's soccer team beat Can't 1-0 on a goal in the 87th minute to ruin the flushers' senior day.The Lady Zips have now won 5 straight, and are in position to get a top-four seed, which means that we would host a 1st round MAC tournament game at Lee Jackson field against a lower seed.Their next game is at home against Ohio on Thursday at 3PM. This game is absolutely huge. It is senior night, and it will probably determine whether we get a MAC tournament home game or not. You're right, Thursday's game is huge. If undefeated CMU beats EMU and Akron beats Ohio; the zips would clinch 2nd place in the MAC!! It would be great to see a big crowd at the game!
  21. With 5 minutes remaining...Lady Zips are up 2-0 over Buffalo. If I am looking at the numbers correctly, a win tonight would clinch a playoff spot for the Lady Zips!
  22. I am following the live stats for the women's game vs. Buffalo. I am guessing the men's game will follow on this link:http://www.ubathletics.buffalo.edu/womenss...stats/xlive.htm
  23. I have been following the women's soccer team and see that they are doing much better this year. I came across this website that shows their 2010 recruits. It looks like the future is bright! (Sort by college)https://sites.google.com/site/soccerrecruits/
