  1. Win out and we're 9-8 vs top 100...
  2. Miss St., Marshall, Ohio and Can't St...if Marshall continues winning, that's 2 top 50 wins on the road If you're going to harp on the 8 losses, be sure to include its the only losses we have...
  3. you do realize we beat a top 25 team on the road this year, right? we also have 4 wins over teams in the top 100...(8 wins over top 100 if we win out) this board is ridiculous...
  4. Would you want really want him to agree with you that there's no pride/leadership? And how exactly does a member of their staff defending their players mean that this team is in big trouble? C'mon now...listen - go here (http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?showtopic=24982), take a few deep breaths, and relax. No, my biggest issue is that this defense of the team was the biggest showing of team pride that i've seen all year....and it came from a grad assistant. And disagreeing is one thing, writing an essay on why i'm an asshole is ridiculous. I just think it's a good example of where this team is as a unit. Someone needs to man up and take responsibility. And trust me, i'm very calm and relaxed. I have plenty of faith in Keith Dambrot getting these guys ready eventually. Problem is, if we keep tanking it and don't figure it out sooner rather than later, we can say 'bye-bye' to the first round bye in the MAC tourney. I know I know, "we've been in this situation before"...not exactly. This team is different from the other early season slumps. These guys are losing the ENTIRE game, not just for stretches of each game. They are being out-hustled and out-played by teams on equal or lower talent levels. I can handle a team losing with some effort, i can't respect a team that goes down with a whimper and beats themselves. I already had to watch a team this fall do that for 12 games. We haven't started MAC play and you're worried about losing a 1st round bye? It's a marathon, not a sprint. If they start playing .500 ball within the conference, I'll start worrying with you. Until then, I think you're overreacting. No one called you any names in the response, much less an asshole...you presented an argument on what you thought was wrong with the team...you were presented a counter-argument on why you were wrong...you were given statistical data to prove you were wrong, you were given basketball philosophy to prove you were wrong....in no point of the letter were you called any names If you'd like to refute that this isn't true, I'll gladly go over the letter with you myself...it wasn't hate-filled, it was fact driven and honest...most of all it was PRIVATE...but as was said in the letter, before you make things public, be sure what you're saying is true and correct
  5. both guard spots defend...Abreu does not
  6. I can say with 100% certainty that Demetrius Treadwell will not redshirt, and will have no problem getting minutes also, I would expect Chauncey Gilliam to play a significant amount of minutes at the 2 I wouldn't get caught up in the "this guy is a 1, this guy is a 2, etc." line of thinking...there are a good number of players on the roster who have decent ball handling skills you might want to look at it more like there will be 2 different line-ups line-up 1: Guard Wing Wing Post Post this line-up would likely be the one you will see with Abreu in the game running the lead guard spot...he will have 2 wings (Gilliam, Diggs, Treadwell, Walsh, Justice, McClannahan, etc.) it could be any 2 of those guys, you don't have to pigeon-hole one as a "2" or one as a "3"...where they are offensively will be determined by the scheme and who they match-up with defensively will be determined by who is on the floor...the old numbering system for basketball (especially for mid-majors) is arbitrary and I don't know of many coaches who follow it line-up 2: Guard Guard Wing Wing Post this line-up is more what you will see if Abreu is not in the game...go smaller and do the ball handling by committee...the 2 lead guards will look more like combo guards, which could be any of McClannahan, Walsh, Abreu, Justice or even Gilliam...then any 2 of the remaining wings to go along with Zeke, Euton, or any other bigs...it is pretty important, however, to have one of the wings listed be a combo forward, which is exactly what Treadwell is...much like Brett McKnight this year...someone who can defend a forward or smaller post and play around the perimeter this is all assuming there isn't any attrition in the offseason and Coach Dambrot doesn't bring in another guard...if that happens, I would expect line-up 1 to be used much more often
  7. he will not be roommates with Nick Haney this is the kid I was referring to...high-level talent...a bit of a risk for Akron, but one worth taking he will be paying his own way for at least the first semester might want to take your BS meter to the shop and get it re-tuned
  8. haha have at it...I'm not here to play mind games with some random people on the internet it couldn't possibly matter less to me whether you choose to believe me or not...I got the info last week, am new to Akron, came across the site and figured you guys would like to know when the information comes out, you guys will understand (maybe) but until then, have fun doubting or doing whatever it is you guys do here...i'll take my info elsewhere
  9. Nick Harney 6'7" combo-forward from Benedictine? If so that news broke months ago. He's greyshirting this year to work on academics and hopefully become eligible in 2011-12. If this is who you are refering to we still have one scholarship left to use on a PG. If you are refering to someone else I am honestly quite puzzled. We have a wealth of forwards on the team in the long term with Gilliam, Diggs, Egner, Green, Euton, Cvetinovic and Harney and are glarringly thin at PG. I suppose if we are talking about a stud like Jakarr Sampson (who is from the Cleveland area despite attending St.V's in Akron) or Anton Grady from Central Catholic it would make some sense, but we would probably need to pull a scholarship from someone else in order to make room for a PG then. that is not who I am referring to...new name...high level talent I am exceedingly confused by this then. If he truly is "high level talent" from "Cleveland" who "will be on campus this fall" I am truly stumped. It would almost have to be a transfer or a de-commit from another school. Nobody shows up on searches of rivals, scout or espn that isn't already committed. this is certainly a unique situation...unless you're from the Cleveland area, you might not recognize the name...but, be assured, he is a Big East/high major caliber of a player...academics were an issue and other schools backed off and Akron will pick themselves up a very nice little prospect if he keeps his head on straight

  11. the last scholarship for 11-12 has been filled...without releasing the name, he is a 6'7 forward from Cleveland...and a nice surprise he will be on campus this fall...I would assume the name will come out when classes begin Aug. 23
