  1. of the thirty or so responses on that blog, i saw one person grade amato as being worse than our previous coach. and of course the fans were mad after the game. we had just lost, and at home too. as for a grading, d+ would be fair for how we've started the season. overall, i would give chuck amato a b-. we've gone bowling 5 of his 6 seasons here. he's put something like 22 players into the nfl while at state. the fanbase is fired up about football, something none of our other coaches have been able to do. you can say that amato's been able to brainwash the fanbase into believe that we're a football school too, and not just a basketball school. the only other time our national profile in football was this high might have been when lou holtz coached here (better than .700 record; wins over bigtime powerhouse programs at the time; a #3 finish).just to shed some light for you; going in reverse:mike o'cain - couldn't beat our rivals, especially carolina. he did beat florida state though. he also only managed a .500 overall record. o'cain was fired and became the offensive coordinator for clemson, and is now at va tech.dick sheriden - wonderful coach. if he had the financial support that amato has now, and the $160 million or so in stadium upgrads, and the fervor of the fanbase... man.tom reed - 3 season in the mid-80's. 3-8 finish in each of those. 'nuff said.
  2. that confirms it. you REALLY don't know what you're talking about. i can't believe you actually said that.as for cowher, he was a star linebacker here back in the late 70's. chuck amato (also an alum, and star linebacker and heralded wrestler) was the linebackers coach at the time, under head coach bo rein. cowher's wife played basketball here as well. bill cowher still holds the nc state single game tackles record with 22 tackles (on two occasions), and also the season total with 195 tackles.he has always said he would move back to raleigh, and his wife wants to as well. they want to raise their younger daughters here. cowher has also said he would help the program out however he can, as long as he wasn't encroaching. he's kept up a good, close relationship with the university.i really don't think he'll take the head coaching job, or even a coordinator position if offered. cowher has made it pretty clear that when he retires, that's exactly what he plans on doing - being retired. at best, i can only imagine cowher being a consultant of sorts. you never really know with people who love something so much though.
  3. ^ you really don't know what you're talking about.
  4. did it DIRECTLY and IMMEDIATELY decide the outcome of the game? nope.
  5. come observe the aftermath. it's not as bad as it was last night, but there's still a good bit of "oh me" going on.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/
  6. there's no video shown from that angle. most of them are from above and at a distance. you can't really tell if that elbow had touched or not.some of y'all are unbelievable. that photo was taken by a person of the media, and it certainly wasn't doctored. refs miss the call all the time. i mean, it still doesn't change anything. y'all still won.
  7. wow, some of y'all are unbelievable. that photo was taken by a person of the media, and it certainly wasn't doctored. refs miss the call all the time. i mean, it still doesn't change anything. y'all still won.
  8. are you talking about with the qb? his knee was definitely down. they showed clear replays on that.
  9. we don't need a timeout to challenge. the booth should've challenged that, especially with that line judge standing right there. like i said though, we deserved to lose.btw, having the elbow down means that the player is down, and the play is dead.
  10. upon further review, y'all actually did not win. however, i don't really care. we deserved to lose this game with the way we played.
  11. i'd much rather get rid of the qb, than amato right now. however, this is his year to convince us that he was worth the commitment that we've shown him. i hope he can turn the program back up, and getting it going again. if not, he needs to be fired.
  12. super-noiseboom 2006i look forward to a good game, guys. i'll admit that your 3-5-3 does worry me a little bit, and hopefully we'll match up well. luckily one of our conference foes, wake forest, run a similar defensive scheme. unfortunately, they usually give us fits with it. we've got a horrible qb, but our running backs are stellar; both are preseason doak-walker finalists.
