  1. CM in a 442. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY different than anything Akron plays. DeAndre is going nuts not getting forward like he's used to.
  2. Who has, by all accounts, been tearing up the NW PDL league, arguably the best division (last two Nat Champs).
  3. This Friday, July 6th, the game between the Sounders u23 and Kitsap Pumas will be live streamed (according to their website). Top two teams in the division, should be a good one. http://prepzone.kitsapsun.com/pumas/
  4. I haven't been able to catch any games since I'm in Boston and none of them are streaming, but it sounds like Aodhan and DeAndre are the two best players on the team. No surprise...
  5. Sarkodie's complete disappearance is really a surprise to me. I wonder why.
  6. My apologies then. Must have Dr. Z confused with someone else who brought up the baseball argument.
  7. How many times do you have to be told that baseball plays a 162 game season. It is TWICE as long as the next longest season (NBA). No one could possibly hope to catch MLB in total attendance. I understand that you really like the Indians/baseball and really don't like soccer, but sticking your head in the sand and saying "LALALALALALALALALALA" doesn't change the fact that the popularity of soccer and baseball are going in completely different directions.
  8. As long as the CP leaving Akron is not Caleb Porter, I'm ok with that...
  9. There is absolutely no need to increase scoring. The only people who want to see scoring increased is people who don't like soccer. Nevermind that they are perfectly ok with a 21-14 football game, which is really just a 3-2 score. The issue is penalty shootouts vs. another way to decide a game, not how to increase scoring.
  10. Mattocks was abusing Sounders defenders. Once he gets his finishing right he's going to be an absolute force.
  11. How does that help anyone who doesn't live in Seattle, ie, every person on this message board? I mean hell, we're related to the kid and WE don't even live there!
  12. I'm pretty sure there's a team in Seattle that wouldn't mind another Akron midfielder joining them.
  13. Yeah I don't know how good Wright St. is but dropping a TD on anyone is pretty damn good. I also wonder if Porter wanted to stretch the field a bit more...I don't think I'm out of line saying that DeA is (probably) the fastest player on the team and is up there nationally. We really didn't have anyone who could get in behind other than Darren and I don't know if you want your target guy being the one to make the runs to the corners etc.
  14. Interestingly, the 3-4-3 is apparently on the table for next year. This wasn't just a last-game-of-spring line up tweak, they might be making some type of switch.
  15. Center Mid for his HS team...more because he was the best player on the team than that being his actual position. He's basically played all over the field since he was younger, from forward to mid to sweeper and back to mid. He played left/center/right mid until going to U18 camp where Porter suggested he move to RB. He then played one season with the Sounders Academy at RB until he left for Akron. He fully admits his defending wasn't where it needed to be when he got to UA but it sounds like he has improved it greatly from beginning of regular season till the end of spring. Now I think he can stop worrying about that part of the game and focus more offense.
  16. Completely agree. Every time we talk about it he says that Porter absolutely does not want him going inside because it interferes with the runs that other players make. He's got the technical skill to do it, I just think he's tentative about actually trying it. That should come with time though, he only started playing right back about a year and a half ago.
  17. I haven't been able to talk to him, but yes, I heard that. How did he look? Did we really come out in a 3-4-3? Hey, don't get me wrong, I think TS is a really good player. I'm intrigued to see him inside. I just thought Korma was brought in to be that TF, if Schmitt is playing well there then I'm sure Koroma will go somewhere else.
  18. Not if CP envisions Koroma there. Koroma is like Wil Trapp in that there's no way he's not starting as a freshman.
  19. Reminds me of Bob Uecker from Major League..."Jusstttt a bit outside"
  20. Who the hell was that kid who crossed it into the Rowdies? What a bum!
  21. And there it is. Thanks Root!
  22. Will be interesting to see where Koroma fits in. DeAndre was raving about the work Schmitt is putting in up top.
  23. I spoke with DeAndre about this and he's clueless on the Derschang front. He did say that the was one of the better players he faced all year (Luis Silva being the best) and that he could absolutely play for Akron in a starting role. He likened him to a Cristiano Ronaldo type player, even saying that his running style was the same. In that same convo he said that the starting XI for spring (or at least the "first team" in practice) has been: ------Stevenson(I think)-------------Schmidt---------------Breines------ ----------------------------------Quinn------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------Caldwell----------------- ------------------------------------Trapp----------------------------------- ----Portillos (I think)-----Barson-----Gallego--------Yedlin-------------
  24. No inside info on this one, but it looks like Derschang might be transferring to Akron. Some evidence: 1. Tweet he was visiting Akron: https://twitter.com/#!/RobbieDerschang/...655811764957185 2. Mention on an SMU forum that his facebook said he was visiting Akron (youll have to trust me on this one) 3. He's no longer on the 2011 roster even though kids who got DRAFTED are still there. Zach Barnes is also missing and was rumored to be transferring. I can't really see the kid coming to Akron other than to check out the campus/facilities, doesn't seem like a normal spring break destination for a 20 year old from SMU. Thoughts?
