As a fervent Arsenal supporter (Go Gunners!), I dislike everything Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
However, I could grow accustomed to Zips wearing the dark shorts with the home white kit.
I think it looks sharp.

Yeah. But it was a sketchy call, this one.

Ouch!
UCN is good, but this loss really hurts.
Very demoralizing!

As a Big E conference match, this will be much more important than any of our games so far.

Really got no problem with that loss so long as we beat UConn on Friday. We played well enough to win but we lacked brilliance in the final third. Vermont, on the other hand, possessed that one moment of offensive brilliance. And that made the difference. Their goal was special, with a high degree of difficulty. No reason for Zips to hang their heads.
Back to work.

What else is there to do in Vermont in September? Collect maple syrup? Sing the Sound of Music while they wait for the Von Trapp Family Lodge to open their skiing?
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Love seeing mid major soccer rise to prominence. This is going to be a good match. Can't wait and Go Zips!
z.i.P.S. Put me down for an emphasis on more promotional items related to soccer. Scarves, bobbleheads, replica 2010 National Championship trophy, etc.
Replica 2010 National Championship trophy?😆

As a guy who is not a soccer die hard but loves the zips this is the type of game I love to see. OFFENSE. I’ve grown to love the zips defense and domination of possession but games like these are what brings casual students back. Winning is always entertaining but scoring helps a lot too
Fair enough! Are you not entertained?!?!?!

For me, Caleb Borneo was MOM. Scoring twice is (obviously) huge, but Borneo was also instrumental in the linking play through our midfield. What a comeback story for this guy! Hopefully, he continues his current trajectory.
Remi Agunbiade completely changed the match when he entered late in the 1st half. Buckeyes could not contain him. Toward the end, OSU Defense began to look fearful.
As previously mentioned, Jose Pedro was fantastic in both defending the flank and contributing passing into Offense. He needs to keep shooting, as unlikely as that sounds when referring to a Fullback. Judging from the room they afford him, opposing Defenses evidently do not believe Jose can score. He should prove them wrong.
Ashton Kamdem was a monster on our left flank. Somebody check me on this, but I think Kamdem drew 3 OSU yellow cards. He is probably really sore today. Side note: Kamdem is the only truly ambidextrous field player we have.
Mitch Budler also appears to be ambidextrous. What can I say that has not already been said? Five matches; Zer0 goals allowed. None will be surprised when Budler's name goes up on Stu Parry's wall.

I was about to say I can't believe Jose didn't take that first touch, but look at that!
Best Jose Pedro match as a Zip so far.

4-2-3-1 is our base system, and has been so throughout Embick’s tenure. Over the years, Zips increasingly switch on the fly to a more offensive 4-3-3. The ability to switch formations while in game is the hallmark of a professional squad. Not many collegiate teams are coached to do that. Zips switch formations in more than half their matches, usually when substituting personnel, so as to not draw the opposition’s attention.
Now, a 4-4-2 is a new (outdated formation) wrinkle.
I would like to see us try it again, with same personnel. It’s like an NBA team running The Weave or NFL team running the Wing T. Ha!

Zips have transferred in quality CBs recently. Matt Paiva makes in three good ones in a row.

Past the midway point of the first half, Zips employed a good old fashioned 4-4-2. This totally took Vikings by surprise.
Remi and Farrell were the two Forwards and they immediately terrorized the CSU back line. Unfortunately, Farrell soon caught a silly yellow card, and staff removed him (and this formation).I want Zips to spring this 4-4-2 formation once again. It probably should never be our base system but it can be a real shock to the opposition. We should try it again.

I know right now it's too early. But when is the "right" time to start looking at RPI? Currently we're at 91, but it isn't based on much right now with such a small sample.

Mitch Budler had a little hiccup at the start of the game but he was All American level for the last 87 minutes.
Very happy that he is the Zips GK....
Wishing a speedy health recovery for Daragh Reilly....
That being said, Matthew Paiva had an outstanding first game ever for the zips.
Ashton Kamdem and Matt Dreas are leaders for this team in the run of play. Good veteran presence on the Field
Great Hustle play by Farrell....that resulted in the Morck goal.
Farrell Ngongang was my man of the match.
Always good to start the season 1-0.
Matt Dreas was off his regularly steady game tonight. Not his best outing.
Very pleased with the composure and command of Matthew Paiva. Hope the knock he took was nothing.
(FaFa?) Farrell Ngongang showed tremendous hustle and grit. He was MOM for me as well. He earned the start of next match.
VCU 0-3 AKR
Perhaps the least convincing 0-3 road victory in NCAA history.
But on a night when many Big East teams lost, we will gladly take it.-

Sorry, folks. This is awful football. Lots of sloppy passing. And poor positioning.
Zips had better fix this.

This will be an interesting match for the Zips. WV Tech is an NAIA school with 48 players on the roster, one is American. The rest are from all over the world and older than their school year peers.
A few boys might come up against a few men.
This could be a good-tune up for a Zips' squad with many new faces.

In limited 2nd half action, Braxton Hayes did not seem to be pushing for a starting job in Exhibition #1.
Disappointing.
Hopefully, we shall see more of Hayes on Wednesday during exhibition #2.

I only hold second-hand information, but I understand Nathan Ferguson scored a first-half brace with an assist to Ashton Kamden. Lineup was Budler, Kamden and Pedro at wing backs. Daragh and Kossehasse center backs. Dreas, Borneo, Roman, Morck, Filsinger and Ferguson. I'll await the release of further secrets from our usual correspondents!
