  1. I agree with the general sentiment that we should start looking ahead to the future, not just with CJ but anywhere else that makes sense during the remaining games on the slate. I am usually an optimist, so I hesitate even saying what I am about to say. BUT this seems to be the best place for Zip fans to vent SO....instead of "cool hand Luke", I'm thinking that "Fluke" Getsy is perhaps more appropriate.
  2. Anytime there is speculation about a school hiring a new coach, it is inevitable that all of the alums who are in the profession receive considerable attention. The first thing I said to myself after watching the NC State game was, it looks like we'll be looking for a new coach after this year. Now that things haven't exactly gone according to plan since then, I took it as the cloud's silver lining that he would have to stay for at least one more year. I still believe that. How can anyone POSSIBLY argue that that program is not in better shape now than when he got here. I'm not saying there isn't always room for improvement, but let's be fair.
  3. Excellent scoop! Eric was definitely one of my favorites from the Huggins era, although I feel much older now thanks to this I kind of lost track, but didn't he get into coaching for a while?
  4. He played the entire 4th quarter against EMU and the Rockets scored on 2 of the 3 drives he lead. I didn't see anything about him getting reinjured.http://utrockets.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/.../102306aaa.html
  5. Like you said, it all starts with the Toledo game. I think UT will play much better than it has recently with Nick Cochran back as the starting QB. He's from the Akron area (Wadsworth, I believe) and would like nothing better than to shine against the Zips. At the beginning of the year, he was putting up pretty good numbers against quality opposition. Let hope the Zips can play well in all phases and bring the victory (1st ever in the Glass Bowl?) home.
  6. I agree with zff. We need to wait and see how the details will play out. I will say this. When I first started hearing discussion about a possible new stadium 10 or 15 years ago, I was VERY sceptical that funding would EVER be made available. As Zips fans, we all have things that we'd LIKE to see in the new stadium. I, for one, will be extremely pleased if and when a new stadium is built on campus period! Other than a minimum seating capacity of 25,000, I really don't have any other "musts" on my list. A design that is flexible, with room for expansion, seems to make sense as well.On a side note, I just saw that the Zips are 5 point favorites on Sheridan's Odds (USAToday). I'm not sure what others think, but I do NOT like being a 5 point favorite AT the Glass Bowl.
  7. While I am also a realist, I agree wholeheartedly with you on this. Sure the MAC didn't do us any favors with regards to scheduling, but we need to continue to support the football team regardless of the slow conference start. I certainly hope the team itself isn't thinking along the lines of "hoop season is right around the corner". We can't throw the towel in just yet, even if it's only to support the Senior class, many of whom made last year possible. Besides, we have a few scores to settle, and what better way than to start with Miami!
