  1. http://youtu.be/onzhzc3nJNE Tank being Tank.
  2. Had his wife at our house all last week in AL, he was enjoying some time in Mississippi with his family and "new" toys. He will be sorely missed, I have no words to express my sorrow for his wife and mother. Tank, one of a kind, no doubt.
  3. I was at that game (my son is a Sr. there this year). Auburn had a chance to win it, but just couldn't find a way to move the ball in the 2nd half. That is the first game that the Auburn defense has showed up at all. New OC and DC there this year, and they are playing 95% sophomores. Should be fun to watch them grow up once they fully understand the system....not unlike whats going on at Akron this year. Lots of gasps when they showed the Akron/UT score at half, third, etc. I was hoping to see a surprising final score, but just not to be.
  4. Same here, I'm sure we'll run into each other sometime this weekend.
  5. You'll have two new fans there next week. Flying in on Friday and staying through Monday. Can't wait to see the facilities and meet a few of you yankees It's ok to call me a redneck, just don't compare me to anything related to Honey Boo Boo.
  6. Having seen no Akron games last year, I have nothing to compare it to. I did see spark all the way to the end, and it looked like the Zips were just physically overmatched. The turnovers hurt, especially the two giving UCF short fields. I saw at least 4 drops early by WR's that could have stemmed the tide some. No penalties in the 1st half of the first game of the year shows some discipline. I know that the coaches won't let them quit. They'll keep scrapping and fighting all the way. That stadium looks fabulous. Can't wait to see it on 9/29.
  7. How does Akron's size compare with others in the MAC? They look physically small vs. UCF to me. My wife and I are coming up on 9/29 for the Miami game.
  8. Watching a stream from N. Alabama. Moving the ball, and without the drops by the WR's it might be a different game. Was a punt fumbled? Looked away for 10 seconds and missed it.
  9. And if anyone had the chance to talk to him, you'd know he was contrite about his past, and very humble to have a 2nd chance. Whatever team picks him will get a great athlete, and a leader to boot. Sometimes stupid kids make stupid mistakes, but Janoris was fortunate enough to have another chance to redeem himself. He could have gone to the supplemental draft last year I do believe, but instead chose to play another year in college to help dispel the misdoings of his past as best he could. That right there should tell you something. As far as the fullback goes, you'll see them knocking heads blocking, and might sneak out and catch a pass every once in a while. If the fullback is in the game, the defense better strap it up and get ready to take a pounding.
  10. You guys be sure to post the info when it comes out, I might try to make it up for that.
  11. The QB coach will teach these guys how to not only compete, but win. AJ is a proven overachiever and a winner, and a heck of a young man to boot.
  12. on the shrimp on Dreamland (it's only good at the original in Tuscaloosa) Maybe a southern boy can come up and help fire up a gameday grill for ya
  13. Telling the truth here guys and gals, I know for a fact that NZF is NOT Bobby Bowden.
  14. If you have a golf outing, I'll bet Bobby comes. Spent some awesome time with him on the links. What a fine gentleman he is. Expect Terry to just drive up and scare the heck out of you when you're about to hit the ball
  15. A quick note..prior to the 2011 SAU game... The buses made a wrong turn in rural Arkansas, and arrived at the stadium less than an hour before gametime. The first half was lackluster, but the 2nd half was a bit more entertaining.
  16. Tank, do you think there are any UNA PLAYERS who could play at Akron? Might they be headed Noth, too? I doubt any would even consider it as they would have to sit a year. UNA usually has a bunch of top flight guys that can play in a lot of places. The big name transfers for the last few years certainly could have. We have had fifth year guys that were SEC and ACC starters finish up here. I think they will recruit heavy JUCO this year, and then try to normalize. It is possible that some of the JUCO guys they have already spoken with might get offers, just wait till the end if the quiet period to see how many are MS and TX kids.
  17. Talked to a few of the guys today. They are truly excited to be headed to Akron. More coaching splashes coming your way soon, I promise
  18. How about some input from someone that knows the guys headed your way? As a UNA/Auburn fan/booster of both, you're getting some good southern fella's. Alan Arrington (Tank) is high energy and knows how to motivate. Think he'll be listed as the OC, even though CTB will call most of the plays during the game. They get along well, and Tank was the OC at UNA when CTB was hired 3 years ago. Recruits well, and has some excellent pipelines to JC's. Some of his motivational speeches might be a bit colorful, so if you don't like to hear it, then don't sit in the first 30 rows. AJ Milwee, great kid, great family. His Aw Shucks demeanor is fantastic. He could really play, and if he's half the coach that I think he'll be, you're in for a great surprise. Jeff Bowden is probably the least known of the coaching Bowden's, and will do well with the WR's. Probably the most "hillbilly" of the bunch, but a heck of a nice guy. You'll catch him riding around in his 1972 Chevy pickup without AC all the time There are a couple more rumored to be headed that way, not sure if any of the rest are "official" yet. Saw John Pont's name mentioned a post or two back, have met him and talked at length. Seemed like a great kid with good coaching lineage. Was only at UNA briefly before having a chance to head to Miami late last summer. Let's not leave out Bobby. If he's in town and you have a chance to meet him, do it. Outstanding coach, outstanding man. Had the pleasure of spending some quality time with him away from the public, and he's just like your favorite uncle (or dad or granddad). Hate to know that he won't be in/around North Alabama as much now. Dadgummit.
