  1. It will sell out and make Live Nation money not the University. UA does not have a relationship with Live Nation other than renting them their facility. Thomas Hall does not co-sponser these events like The Civic does.
  2. Again, another concert by default...nothing done by the university to encourage it. We are just another public venue that has very little to do with student needs and wants. It will no doubt fill up, but such is not the point. There is no UA spirit and student enthusiasm to these once in a blue moon phony UA events. http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/05004B02...c=EML_LN_115857
  3. Addiction has been a problem in this country and world for a long, long time. Just because some think that it should not be a topic in every forum on the face of the planet does not mean that they need educated in addiction. One of the things related to addiction is the concept of "Boundaries". There is a time and a place for everything and addicts have little to no concept of those two factors.
  4. Well thank God it was a girl and not a boy. That makes all the difference in the world now doesn't it?
  5. University Edge (non-UA owned) is indeed looking awesome and blends in well with actual UA owned campus housing (South Hall and Exchange Street Apartments) Of course none of these projects actually have anything to do with UPA. Nonetheless, I think University Edge as well as 22 Exchange, The Lofts the "green" housing further South of Exchange and the newest private UA student housing being built by the RR tracks help to make the campus a residential campus as opposed to a commuter campus in letter, spirit and perception. It's all good.
  6. With all due respect to CJ, Here here!
  7. The question: Why is Akron's the lowest? It is not so much a collective issue as it is one for Akron to address and no, I won't put the problem on the students. The problem is with the institution and therefore the character of students it attracts. Other universities in Ohio attract better students and have much better graduation rates...why can't Akron? We are not third tier because it is someone else's fault. It is our fault.
  8. I get the same number the writer got when I checked this out: Graduation, Retention and Transfer Rates: First Year Student Retention (full-time students): 72% Transfer Out Rate: 24% 4-Year Graduation Rate: 14% 6-Year Graduation Rate: 38% Data Sources: National Center for Educational Statistics and the University of Akron website His agenda is hopefully the same as ours" advancing higher education in the state and region...nothing wrong with having an agenda. Being a part of ZNO means that we have an agenda.
