At the very least, did we ever get a home game out of Radford and Hampton? I sure hope so, but I don't recall. Yes, if we agreed to play them on the road for just one game, I hope that would be completely unacceptable today.

That might be the best development I've heard yet. Especially since NIT games at the "big schools" are not anything they get too excited about. That place is big enough that any real "atmosphere" there might be pretty much nonexistent. -
Can't believe it. Those were my student days. I just don't remember it. But then again, there are several parts of my student days that I don't remember.
-
I have no idea why I don't remember this game. But I am old and might be losing it.

I'm drawing a blank on any P5 teams ever coming to the JAR. But when I think of RANKED teams, a couple come to mind. Cleveland State in 1986 Xavier in 1996 Nevada in 2005 (Return bracket buster game) VCU in 2011 (although I can't remember if they were actually in the Top 25 at that time) I have to be forgetting someone. Can anyone add to this?
-
We've had a home-and-home with Dayton in recent year, and had a home-and-home with Xavier in the 90s. That's good stuff. I don't know why we can't get those anymore. And of course, the Xavier home game was the multi-OT game where Ball had the 44 point outburst. I'll never forget it. And Xavier was ranked at the time. THOSE are the kinds of opportunities we need more often. It was nearly the all-time greatest win for the program.

I would stop complaining if I could see about 3 teams per year that were in the Top 50 territory. If some of them were in the "travelable" vicinity, that would be a bonus. UAZipster, I think any of the programs you mentioned would accomplish all of those goals.
-
I know they look at attendance. But, I can almost assure you that the crowd in the JAR would have been a SELLOUT for this one. The Honks in this area would have been fighting all of us for tickets. I'm not sure if 5k will go to this game in Cowlumbus. NIT games at "big schools" have historically not drawn well. The cheap ticket price is probably a reflection of that.

I see this as a game similar to the Buffalo game in some respects. We will be at a huge disadvantage in the rebounding department, and we will have to create a lot of turnovers to negate that disadvantage. Whether we can shoot well enough or not is never predictable. -
I hear an echo of my own voice here. I've been touting this for years, including on this board. But you are missing one key part. You still have to WIN some of these top tier games. I don't think you can just play them. So, I would advocate for more than just a couple of Top 50 road games each year to give us more opportunities to do that. Other than that, I think your statement is Spot On !!!

I felt like the NIU and Miami games were the ones that sealed our fate. But Green Bay couldn't have helped either. At least we would have been able to show that we conquered every non-league opponent except Villanova, which would have looked pretty good. The only thing we really got out of all of this was some mentions in articles about being "in the hunt" for a possible At-Large. I would have loved it if we were mentioned on the selection show, and was pretty shocked that we were not on that big board of teams that were possibilities. Like always, we need to do the work ourselves. Keep winning as many basketball games as possible, try to get better quality wins, try to avoid any bad losses (which sealed Monmouth's fate), and keep trying to give ourselves as much hype as possible.

Where is the opportunity for the Zips fans to be together in a group if we are ordering randomly through these sources? Doesn't Akron have a "section" that can be purchased through Akron's ticket office? -

I found this pretty amusing, and so typical. I am not a Facebook guy, but someone told me this morning that Suckeye fans are all over the Zips facebook page commenting about things, and chastising the Zips fans who are commenting. I see this as a game where plenty of so-called "Zips Fans" will buy tickets through Akron, and will go down there and sit among the Akron fans with their OSWho gear. It happens when we go down there for football games, and to some extent you see it at our own home basketball games. That will be embarrassing and sad if it happens. But, I won't be surprised. -

Of course. Because, even when OSWho wins games, it's a win for the State. And that's good for all of us. -
We also have a body here that has the ability to create rules and foster fairness in athletic competition. But greed has caused it to morph into something much different.
-
I wish you luck. I've only been down there a few times over the years for Akron football, and I have sworn that I would never go down there and deal with those a-holes again.

THANK YOU !! -
For us old guys, we've been waiting 27 years to get them to play us again (1989 NIT). We need to get some people down there !! I'm pissed I can't make it.
-
I won't be able to make it down to Cowlumbus. But, I am urging every Zips fan to make that trip, get a couple thousand people in that arena, and bring back the victory that would mean so much to the Zips fans in this state, and add to the legacies of Jake and Reggie.
-
Very nice. Obviously in reference to 2007, if I remember correctly?
-
You already know how this is all going to go? Can I buy your crystal ball?

Akron RPI = 36 OSWho RPI = 72

That "Big In State Opponent" should be playing us at Rhodes. You know it, and I know it.
-
Love the game. The Seeding is complete BULLSHIT.

Same problem here.
