WOW. Even though OU is a Top 100 win, I don't see any way we get from the mid-40s to #16 with 3 more wins. Something has to be wrong with that calculation.

I didn't hear the comment, but many coaches believe that the sight lines within your own arena are familiar to your own players, and help them to shoot better.
-
I think I remember the lead being as high as 19 ? Now it's 5 at the half?
-
Getting a tie isn't good enough. We'd own the Divisional Record tiebreaker. Maybe you should have taken care of business when we WON by 12 in Athens, before we lost Forsythe (he was only playing limited minutes in that game also).
-
Ok, what am I missing here? I thought I knew all of these by photographic memory, since we've been in the final or semi final all of these 10 years. 07 - Miami 08 - Ken+ 09 - Akron 10 - OU 11 - Akron 12 - OU 13 - Akron 14 - WMU 15 - Buffalo 16 - ? Akron - 3 OU - 2 Ken+, WMU, Miami, and Buffalo - 1 each

This was pretty much the target of the old AD. We'll have to see if that is going to change now.

Sorry Guys. I put Syracuse and Indiana in the same category. I thought Indiana was a 2 for 1 also.

K92, you're right about taking the large payday, regardless. And as a home game, from a pure one-game financial standpoint, it doesn't add up either. But from the perspective of using these opportunities to get more good home opponents, it's a disappointment. My point is, if we could bargain with an Indiana or a Syracuse, why were we not able to accomplish the same with a very poor program like Illinois?

I think the "paid" attendance will be great, especially with the students there. But, an 8pm game on a Tuesday will bring plenty of empty seats to the lower bowl. I regret to say that, for the first time this year, my seats will be empty down there after halftime.
-
If we were able to get that from Indiana, you'd figure we could get that from Illinois, right?
-
I'm going to be biased for a second and say that I'm disappointed that the format changed back, and we're likely going to have to play 3 games this year instead of 2 games. But I must admit, having some teams playing 5 games and a couple of teams playing only 2 games was completely unfair. Giving some advantage to the top seeds is the right thing to do, but that was just taking it way too far.

Love it. An opportunity to knock off a Big (however many schools they have) school, and it's a very doable road trip. And I don't think too many people here have probably ever been in Champaign Illinois. I actually drove through there once recently, but didn't stop

Nope. If Akron is #1, they get the #8 or the team that upsets them. #2 gets the #7, or whoever upsets them. #3 gets the #6, or whoever upsets them. #4 gets the #5, or whoever upsets them. But to answer your concern, there's always a chance that there's an upset and someone could get a better Quarterfinal draw than Akron, since the teams are not re-shuffled after every round. But, it's still to our benefit that we won't play a team any higher than #8, don't you think?

You're talking about the 2012 title game, when Alex was shooting free throws at the end of the game. Someone here posted a picture of one the of the OU players grabbing the rim on that FT attempt that bounced up in the air. By rule, that's a Technical. It was never called, and was not reviewable. But they DID look at the replay to determine if the FT dropped in, or came out and was tipped in.

I'll sum it up with all 4 of those teams, like I did earlier. Akron vs. Buffalo - Done. We're two games better than them, and WE own the tiebreaker. Akron vs. Ken+ - Ken+ would have to win their last 2 games, and we would have to lose our last 2 games. Akron vs. Ball State - Ball State also has to win their last 2 games, and we have to lose our last 2 games because we own the tiebreaker head-to-head. Akron vs. OU - OU needs to beat us, win their last game, and it would go to a 2nd tiebreaker since the head-to-head is split. But someone was right earlier. Because Ken+ lost tonight, We CLINCH the #1 SEED in the tourney just by winning against OU on Tuesday. I also think we're very fortunate this time of the year to have a WIN out of the way on a Friday. OU just played a long overtime game on Saturday, and they have to play us on the road on a Tuesday. That can really be huge this time of year.

Here's the easiest way to look at it. Vs. Ball State - One more Akron win, or one more Ball State loss and that is over (we own tiebreaker against them). Vs. Buffalo - One more Akron win, or one more Buffalo loss and that is over (we own tiebreaker against them). Vs. Ohio - Beat them on Tuesday, and it's over because they'll be at least 2 games behind us with one to play. Vs. Ken+ - If we win on Tuesday, Ken+ needs to win ALL THREE of their remaining games to tie us, and win the league by virtue of owning the tiebreaker. So, here's the easiest path to the title right now..... Win on Tuesday vs. OU, and if Ken+ loses either tonight or Tuesday it's for the Zips on Tuesday night, and we're cutting down nets.

You don't need to overanalyze this one. It was the first of the three games that students have to attend to be eligible for the free tuition giveaway.
-
A few things: 1) If you're open just shoot the ball. It's a great way to avoid turnovers. Everyone had the green light tonight. We shot twice the number of 3's that we shot on Tuesday. 2) Reggie's night started reminding me of the Central Michigan game at home last year. He could have saved a few for the next couple of games 3) I wish we would have rested some of those guys much earlier. But, that's why I don't make half a million coaching.

It's easier said than done, when you simply don't have much ability in that area. You can only do what you can do, with the talent that you have. With that said, Antino is really the key. He's the creator that can leave a defense scrambling, when he's playing well, and not when he's getting frustrated. Without him, yes, we're left with the best of what we have. A post player who can score, and some long range shooters waiting on the perimeter IF he gets pressured and can get the ball back out to them.
-
Yep, lets just take care of what we do best....winning at home. As someone stated earlier, Cleveland always seems to be like "home" for us also. I think we have just as good of a chance of winning the regular season title and tournament title as we did in any of our other title years.
-
You really think we can alter the perception? How? You can probably eliminate our own local paper from the possibilities of a source that could put any positive twist on it. Tell me how you think that ITT Tech is perceived in the world of higher education? Then put The University of Akron with it. There will be no way to separate that.

Of course, we hope that was an anomaly, and the 7 straight losses right before that are more indicative of their recent play. If we can beat someone this year by 15 on the road, I think we SHOULD be able to slaughter them at home.
-
It might be hard to "re-set" at this point. We are what we are. Lets just hope we find a couple of new things that work for what we have, and the guys can execute them.
-
This is scary, because if you think that these 3 guys all belong on the short list of guys who could run the floor and finish, then we've taken a real step backwards in landing that kind of talent over the last couple of years.
-
That tells you how slim we've been for these types of players. It took a day for someone else to even suggest another name.
