  1. Ivanov and Jake 2 different styles of goalkeeper. Jake is more agile and a better overall shot stopper. Ivanov is a more powerful goalkeeper that lacks a whole lot of technique but makes up for it in hustle and enthusiasm. That being said you could tell how different they were during the shootout. Here is what I gathered from the shootout, and mind you I was mainly focused in on the shot of the player and the goalkeepers approach. Ivanov- Like switch-it said he looked lost. However I would say it was the whole shootout. To me he seemed nonathletic, just falling over attempt after attempt. He seemed reactionary on every shot. Meaning if we shot the ball on the ground with decent pace it would have found the back of the net. Think back to the 3 saves that he made. Stewart hit the ball down the middle didnt have to move, Sean telegraphed where he was going with his and he lacked pace making for an easy save, and finally I believe it was Robbie that hit the ball with little pace shoulder height a foot or 2 away from Ivanov. Jake- Looked as if he was second guessing himself. Both his saves were balls that appeared to be destined for the corner. Got his hands on a couple more but could not keep them out. He needed to have stronger hands in the situation. He dove right i would say 9/14 times getting his hands on 4 of those shots is still a pretty good ratio if you ask me. Also IMO I do not think size matters too much between these 2 keepers.
  2. I thought that was Creegan that clashed with Jake. I honestly thought that it was that foul near our bench where it appeared he hit heads for a Michigan player. I guess I could be wrong
  3. Got a little sloppy when the rain started, but that was probably the most complete game on both the attacking and defensive side of the ball that we have had this season in my opinion. Does anyone know the status of Souders?
  4. Looks like Fenlason (Rancho Bernardo) played in the same league as McAtee (Torrey Pines) in their high school days. http://www.maxpreps.com/league/R7YJlqht40GshcxX6qtrSw/standings-palomar.htm
  5. I think this is well deserved. In my opinion he has been one of the more consistent players for us this year. http://www.mac-sports.com/news/2014/10/13/MSOC_1013141242.aspx
  6. Sounds more like a 3-5-2 with 3 centerbacks (Souders, Cregan, Ruhaak) and 2 wingbacks. Those being (Saad and Dambrot) 2 Holding midfielders (Souto, Laryea) an Attacking center mid (Najem) and 2 forwards (Quirk and Gainford) Maybe looked like this: Gainford Quirk Najem Dambrot Souto Laryea Saad Souders Ruhaak Cregan Fenlason
  7. In my experience a team has their one penalty taker whom takes the penalties when they are on the field no matter what. Examples are: Gerrard, Pirlo, Ronaldo, Donavon, and Scott Caldwell from a couple years back. I just think as a coach Jared needs to scold who ever posted the video of Victor taking the PK at the Tulsa game. Players usually have a side they go to on a regular basis so why would we want to show the world where one of our PK takers likes to go?? Here is the video evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8cv25E39S4#t=45
  8. UW actually won the match at Portland - http://portlandpilots.com/boxscore.aspx?path=msoc&id=7415 UW seems to be turning in another great start to the season just like last year. They traveled to Florida to play the same opposition we did but fared much better. They beat FGCU 1-0 http://www.gohuskies.com/ViewContent.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30200&CONTENT_ID=978166 And Turned around to beat South Florida 2-1 a few days later. http://www.gohuskies.com/ViewContent.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30200&CONTENT_ID=979258
