Think about it this way. We move the band over to the other side by the cheerleaders and they are playing right into our guys bench and huddle during timeouts. I personally want them to hear everything that coach is telling/yelling at them. There is just a little food for thought.

I wouldn't have believed it if i didn't read it for myself. So here is the link.http://www.ubtrueblue.com/You have to scroll down a little bit, but its on there.

I'm totally looking forward to Wednesday when Buffalo and Mr. Witherspoon come to the JAR. What i am more excited about is that through the Canadian winds has flown a interesting piece of news. A bus full of True Blue members from the buffalo student section are making the trip to the JAR. All i have to say is, its about time. Hope that everyone gets their butts to this game not only for our seniors, but to show buffalo that they are in Canada and they need to stay there with their hockey sticks and their labatt blues.

We have been looking for someone to make us a website. There were a couple of options we had this year and we were not able to take them because of high price or not what we were looking for. Does that mean we are giving up on making a website? Not at all. We are just trying to find the right fit.The new president will be annouced sometime next week. The election process is set to begin next monday. You will all know soon enough who the new board members will be.

I was just having a conversation with the future president of the Rowdies. I told them that the problem i saw the most with the past presidents was that they were only in the position for one year. None of the past presidents in the last three years were ever in office for more than a year. It seemed like in that year they never got to the point where anyone in athletics or the higher offcials (whatever you want to call them) got to know these people and found out how they work or what not. The president that is going to take office on May 1st has the opportunity to be in office for multiple years. They will be able to work with the same people for a few years if possible so i see things turning around alot within the next couple years.
-
Yeah the president next year is going to turn things up a notch, but then again this person can only do as much as the athletics department will let him. Not to mention this year we had 1400 people sign up for the organization and only 100-150 people actually showed up. So thats 150 fans of our sports teams and 1250 people who just wanted the damn t-shirt. Yes we did things at orientation this past summer, we also did set up a table in the student union for an entire week for around 3 hours a day the first week of school. I remember seeing that someone stated that they came to every basketball game this year and didnt see anywhere to sign up. Well if you came in the student entrance you walked right past us doing the sign ups EVERY TIME! Those people handing out the wristbands for the lower seats? They were doing the sign ups, for future reference. Anyway the president next year will turn things up a notch.

Hopefully most of you have heard of the Relay for Life cancer walk. Maybe you have participated in one or know someone who has been in one. If nnot here is a little background on the event:Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to: Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease. This year the AK-Rowdies have gotten a team together to participate in the Relay for Life. We also have been challenged by Can't State to see who can raise the most money. If you wish to donate some money here is how you would do it:Go to http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=16548Click on the donate button right there on the main pageSearch for the AK-Rowdies teamClick on our team name when it comes upThen you click Donate again once on our team pageFill out the information asked for on that page.Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated, the rowdies are very excited to be participating in this event.Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope to beat Can't state one more time with your help.

Throughout this year the Rowdies have been in the ear of every coach. Last night was no different. Mr. Coles heard everything you could think of from the south side of the court. Such as asking if he was wearing a new shirt or if its been the same one for the last century, wondering why he looks so much like Doc Brown from Back to the Future, to even asking if miami had any magic left from a few years ago (still hurts, i know.....sorry)(and they did). When it was all said and done the zips had won and charlie went back to the locker room with his team. I thought that was the end of it but i was mistaken. Mr. Coles came back out to do the radio interview with the miami broadcast team and some of the Rowdies were still standing around chatting about the game. Mr. Coles came up to each one of us and shook our hands and told us that we make the road trips to akron fun for him and his team. He then went to our big pimpin, Ian Tayek, and told him that when they were watching the game film they watched him to see how the rowdies react to certain situations. Charlie Coles is a class act, and a very respectable man. The Rowdies have nothing but respect for him. Just thought everyone here should know what a great man he is.

A little birdie has told me that the Ohio Brewing Company is showing the game and that a couple of the rowdies would be there.

New Toledo Coach Getting Started
AwesomeDude replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Liked how in the article the assitant coach from miami warned him about the O-Zone and their winning team losing team chant but didnt warn him about the I Believe from the Rowdies. Im sure he will learn it quicker than he expected. -
Hey Fleming can you honestly say you respect the band what-so-ever? Na i didnt think so. You say i need a midol? Fine maybe i do but im finally tired of the band getting shit on so sorry for flying off the handle about something i feel strongly about.
-
Ok for those of you who are saying that the band people are living in the past you are correct. But if im not mistaken this thread is called UA TRADITIONS.........and arent traditions things that are from the past? Hmmmmm. Dumbasses! You want to sit here and tell the people in the band who have to have the 2 fight songs (yes i bet none of you knew there were 2 fight songs) and the alma matter (in 4 part harmony) memorized by the 2nd day of band camp, you want to sit there and tell us we are wrong? Well screw that! I believe that your little cup does say that because yes i have a couple of them as well. Thats a Cup, not the ACTUAL musical notes on the musical staff with the freaking words to the fight song. The dictionary defines tradition as the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc., from generation to generation, esp. by word of mouth or by practice. The band does it every year the same way. This is why the band never shows up to anything really because you F_ _ _ers never pay attention in the first place and we dont get the respect that we deserve. Oh its halftime lets go do something else theres nothing going on at halftime. If thats your attitude im glad that im not in band anymore and im glad i will be sitting all alone in the stands watching the band at halftime. Other than that if you dont like what i said here i dont give to shits and if you dont agree with them then go to Can't and leave this place alone assholes.

Wrong!!! Not a fellow team mate telling on them. These lovely young women are friends with their coach on facebook. Thats how they were caught.

As one of the leaders of the Rowdies when i saw Zeke walk through the door at the Can't game, i was like "We have a chance to see him in a Zips Uniform??!!!!" I punched my buddy in the arm and said that honestly. Not to mention Akron would have our own "BIG Z" Wow just knowing that we have a chance is making my throat tingle from all the future possible loud screams of "Z" coming from the rowdies. A WOO! Akron loves winning and it seems like Zeke does as well, because after all it is so delicious!

Heres a question that has been rocking my brain since i saw it happen in the game tonite. Did anyone else notice that when the smallest guy on NIU had switched off a pick to guard bardo (NIU player easily giving up a good foot to bardo) that no one would feed it in to the big man? I mean come on thats an easy two points right there maybe more if another player comes to help the smaller guy. I mean thats like the number one thing they teach you in high school. If you get a mismatch just like that you take advantage of it, whether its a easy two with a possible foul, or a kick out for a three ball you have to do it to keep the pressure on the D. Just something that i have been scratching my head about.
-
ok i said that i dont have to mention how important this game is, but im going to do it anyway. THIS GAME IS A MUST MUST MUST WIN FOR THIS ZIPS!!!!! ok i feel better. With the last two games everyone has noticed that the zips have turned it over WAY to freaking much. Thats obvious. I think that with this being a home game and all it will be a completely different zips team from what we have had to endure recently. At home, rowdies being rowdie, fans for the zips, and the comfort of being at home. Should be a good emotional boost for the guys. ok i said enough anyone else?
-
Just so everyone knows the rowdies are haveing a watch party for this game in the Tommy Evans lounge. The doors will open for us at 2. Anyone can come hang out with us and watch our guys.
-
Ok the game at Can't is over its time to move on to more important things like tomorrows game at Central. I ran into Bardo today and i asked him how pissed off the team is, needless to say im afraid for central. The fire that seemed to be around the words that Bardo said were hot enough to burn down half of Ohio. Thats really all i got just wanted to get this going and forget about that other game.
-
Heres a thought, Bardo is averageing 8.9 min a game. How many times in a game can anyone on these boards say they saw bardo touch the ball and actually shoot? I will admit there have been a couple but not many. Bardo is consistently underneath and is posted up, so pass him the ball not that hard to do. Do they? No they dont, i saw during the temple game the same situation dials thought about passing it to bardo then got this "wtf" look on his face and passed it to conyers who missed the jumper. Bardo is not going to get better unless people trust him to score points and have confidence in him. Give the kid a shot and see what the big man can do.

The cheer we have for steve mcnees stems back to the eastern michigan game last year. A couple of rowdies including myself made the trip up there and basically showed up their entire arena. The mascot there tried to steal the cedrick sign after it had just broke our big Z sign for Z-fence. Well i wouldnt let it take the sign and steve was watching so i sad "Steve Mcnees, help me kick this things @$$!" That was last year and we realized we cant say that so this year we came up with "Easy as Mcnees-y". The 3's are coming for whenever we make a three. More signs are coming but i need pictures of players doing a certain action for a couple of them, they are on the way. There wont be any new signs for this weekends game except the 3's due to im almost out of ink and the pictures of the players situation. I love the rowdies and i even was wondering what happend this past game, it just didnt have the right vibe. I'm going to do my best to bring this back full swing. And like i said before MAKE SURE YOUR AT THE AKRON MIAMI HOME GAME FOR A SURPRISE FOR THEM STUPID REDHAWKS!

The membership requirment is NOT gone. I do not know where you heard that from but it is still in effect. To remedy the situation about people not knowing about the sign ups and blah blah blah is simply put this way, the board members sat in the student union for two entire weeks in the begining of school signing people up, and we HAVE NOT CLOSED SIGN UPS LIKE THEY HAD LAST YEAR. For any game there is the chance for students to sign up. Since the rowdie entrance and the student entrance are now the same door in the JAR there are sign up sheets an hour before every home game. I worked the door the game against temple and there were students coming in just to be students and not be akrowdies so thats on them. Seriously if you have a problem paying $10 for a tshirt, good seats at games, free away trips, and many more things that will get thrown our way then fine no sweat off out backs.
-
Oh i was not using that as an excuse because its the truth. I was at the game i walked from wheeler street in the rain so i dont care about weather i was stating that most people arent hardcore about it yet and they saw rain and thought to themselves "NO!"
-
LoveZips, We are not able to switch sides like that because the admin says flat out no. Also being the person that checked in the rowdies on monday i was suprised we had that many people honestly. Oh and the JARs facility staff came up and told me that the band side was full and to only hand out the north side until the game starts. WE CANNOT MAKE IT FREE TO JOIN THE ROWDIES. You pay 10 dollars for a shirt and a membership. What this member ship gets you.......1. Good behind the buckets seats at games2. T shirt3. Free food4. Couple away game trips (free)Sounds like 10 bucks come back to you real freaking quick.ZIPBOX1. You say we need more rowdies. Ok. The Rowdies this year have a sign up list of over 900 people in the organiztion. Granted there werent 900 people there but also take into account that it was rainging like cats and dogs outside and seems these days that our fans only come out when they wont get wet or its warm enough. (im sorry thats dumb) 2.We need cheers for the starting 5, ced is taken care of (C-note), Dials (DUH), J wood (got that one), Quade (EARTHQUADE), Nate (NVP). those guys were taken care of last year, we are working on getting cheers for bardo, jimmy, and goddard.3. We do not use the word suck in every cheer because all our cheers are for our team why would we tell them they suck.4. We know our opponents trust me on this one.5. Not able to go one the floor with the cheerleaders we will get booted. Thats an Admin rule as well so talk to them bout that one.I am the guy who makes the signs for basketball and i have been working as fast as i can to get these new guys some signs and what not. It's hard to come up with ideas when some of these players only get to see maybe 5 min a game. They are coming and they are going to be better than ever so cut me some slack it is only the begining of the year.We are trying our hardest right now to make this years rowdies be the cream of the crop in student sections this year. The Basketball team is building a chemistry right now and its working for them, let the rowdies build their chemistry and i promise by the begining of MAC play we wont be haveing this conversation again. Also Make sure everyone shows up for the MAC home opener against MIAMI, the rowdies a have a little suprise for them that night and you wouldnt want to miss it.
