OOPs. I guess if I would have looked at the link it would have helped.$10 million seems like a good deal. One of thise artificial fields with nothing on it runs around $800,000. I'm sure they will get a nice one. Earth moving, bubble construction, air pumps to hold bubble up, sidewalks to and from bubble, lights, water, drainage.....$10 millions sounds about right.

It could be a lot of money or it could not. They didn't need a stadium, but at the same time 9.7 mil isn't much money to build much with a cover over it. I'd be interested to know what they are spending the money on before I make up my mind.Cinci Practice facilitiesIn their attempt to keep coach Kelly, the Bearcats are spending 9.7 Million on practice facilities. -
Apology accepted. Some brief clarifications:#1. And I think this one is very important: I don't consider GP1 a troll. Never have .. never will. There have been a few dispatched from ZN.O lately .. but in my view, GP1 is NOT a troll. He's a Zips fan. One of the loyal ones.#2. My intent in the original post, was to ask GP1 a question. Which way does he want it? It remains unanswered. It was not to be a slam, and frankly, I'm surprised he took it that way.GP1 is fond of needling the folks he calls "builders" and refers often to the "building conspiracy." This is generally in reference to those of us here who recognize the progress that the hoops team has made over the last 5 season. Some of us see that KD has a vision for Zips hoops .. he thinks we're conspiracy theorists. His post citing Bill from WF radio illustrated (in my view) some contradiction on GP1's part: Teams that lose early will lose late? .. last season the Zips lost early and won late .. I think the point is BS, and I pointed that out.Don't read too much into this .. I think several people are. I just posted an observation on his behavior .. and what I see as him contradicting himself .. much in the same manner he is free to point out to others, and periodically does so. He didn't like my analogy and observations .. so be it. We move on.Go Zips! -
Didn't your parents ever tell you to watch what you put in your mouth?you're full of crap and I'll never let you forget it. BUT, I sometimes love what you post and always find your observations interesting and worth reading and chewing on. -
how did you read it? what would cause such a severe response to a pretty harmless post? keep in mind, zw is a moderator.
I did not read his post that way at all.
Thanks UAZip0510. To the point, the answer is "no". The point of Zip Watcher's post was to not just blast me, but send a point out to anyone who might disagree with him and his line of thinking. He is entitled to his opinion, is he not? I like GP, and think he brings a lot to the forum, even if I don't agree with him 100% of the time. -

I would encourage you to go read many of my posts this year on how proud I was of the team and the great future they have in front of them with Zeke and many of the other good players they have on the team.i have to agree with the other poster in that gp just stirs the pot.he waits for akron to lose on game, and then comes inattacking k.d.when the zips start winning then you disapper.you never have anything good to say about k.d. or the team.unfortunately more people than just me have seen this pattern.zips win -you run and hide.they lose one game and the k.d. is a bad coach ect.ect.ect. if akron starts winning a few games you will hide for ahwile.if they lose to n.c. state you will say kd needs to go.for some reason you do not like k.d. i am not sure what the reason is, but it seems to be personell. -
Let freedom ring!!!!!!Dare I call it as I saw it? "Crapping" all the way....What an absolute awful way to start the season! Will the Zips improve over the course of the season? Of course! Last year proved that point and it cost me. It's a long season. The non-conference games are there for a reason. To win games, build a resume for the selection committees and to find your rotation. We failed on two of the three.Last year we started out slow in the MAC- Dambrot adjusted the rotation and we steadily improved. How many games will it take this year? A part of the reason that KD has had some "sucess" making the MAC finals three staight years is also a major reason we fail in games like this? The large rotation and no go-to guy helps at times and is a detriment at times. If you have two QB's of equal ability, typically you have two "second" teamers. If we have a solid rotation of 10 guys, do we have a strong bench or do we have two "second" teams? Yes the defense was off... Especially the guy that got burnt three straight times by # 22 late in the game. But enough with the we miss Linhart already. Guys graduate every year.... I realize it was the first game and KD is looking for a rotation..Here a hint..Humpy and Nik should play major minutes... Everyone else can fight over the other 130 minutes.I realize it was the first game, but you just cannot lose that game. Unexcuseable!I hope that wasn't too much lipstick. -
They are going to get a "learning experience" all right......I wouldn't want to be at their practice today. It's going to be brutal. -
It's one thing to take a bag to a game (I really don't blame anyone), but punching holes in it will only allow the vomit to pour out. There should be signs around The Big Telephone Booth saying: "Keep InfoCision clean. Don't punch holes in your barf bag."

With all the losing I've watched, it's more like a foghorn.
If you are a fan of Zips athletics and you don't own a case of lube, then then the Lord blessed you with either a very loose, or very wide orifice.I must assume that when a strong wind blows past the Great GP1's posterior, a sound similar to that found in a jug band is produced.
By the case? I guess we all have our secrets......A Zips fan that doesn't already have a medicine cabinet full of lube? I don't believe it. I buy the stuff by the case at Sam's Club. -
With the exception of being called a Browns Fan, I have no beef.
At this point it seems entirely clear that the beef is between you and ZW and has nothing to do with the rest of us or the Zips in general. It see no need for it to be aired out publicly on this forum.
The PM feature is lame. I think the overreaction to a very mild post about the game yesterday was odd and filled with a lot of pent up anger. I have been more than supportive of the BB team this year and I think they can do much better than what they did yesterday. They have a lot of talented players and should do better than what they did yesterday. I think KD is in agreement.I will continue to call them as I see them, not as others think they should be seen. I hope that ZW's response to my post does not make any other posters hesitant to express their views on this board even if they may be different than the mainstream.Go Zips!Guys, this really sounds like something that needs to be taken care of with the PM feature. -

Mine is an observation as well. You are a douchebag. Nice response. No attack .. just an observation. You on the other hand? Nice response. -
Wow, personal attacks after the first loss. Everyone else should take note that if you dare to lay any criticism on this team, this is how you will be treated.I will stop asking more out of the defending MAC Champions. It is now OK to lose to AP.You are a real douche ZW. I always thought more of you as a poster.
No team has run the table since the 1976 Hoosiers. So every team the last 33 years loses games now and then. No one is excusing it away, it's a bad loss .. but some folks, like the Great GP1 are making it out to be more that it is.The Great GP1 in the past few weeks has exposed himself to be nothing more than a contrarian and a prejudiced one at that (see the Amish thread and others where he's the first to drift into off-color sweeping generalizations). And lately, he's also clearly established his agenda at Zips Nation .. the contrarian pot-stirrer. Take the opposite opinion of the majority and make it suit your need with self congratulatory keyboard diarrhea .. mix in some elitist drivel implying or in your case outright stating that anyone who doesn't agree is just too dense to really understand. Congratulations, you have a web persona .. good for you.Which is it, GP1 .. do you want to root for teams that are perennial losers like your beloved Demon Deacons, or teams that (apparently unlike WF) play every game in the season .. win some, lose some & try to move forward with lessons from both that lead to growth as a team and improved performances? You probably already know that Browns Fan would never know what to do if he wasn't calling some drive time sports hack in September demanding the ouster of a coach who's been on the job for 6 months and 3 games. This is the same Browns Fan who'll be calling the hack back on Tuesday morning if a miracle occurs tonight, singing the praises of the new coach and dreaming of 8-8 seasons in the future with the guy he currently thinks is the worst coach since Bill Belicheck. Well, I'm here to tell you that in the Zips Nation, you are Browns Fan. In football, you find a way to take a single D1 FBS victory over a mediocre to bad opponent and turn it into some optimism .. nay CONFIDENCE .. about the future of the club. But in hoops, you're here to tell us that losing a game in November is reason for alarm and that you don't want to see a team improve over the course of the year or think that they can. What the Great GP1 and Browns Fan (redundant I know) lacks is the patience or interest to observe the process that a full season is. My recommendation to you is to just buy a paper or check the scores online in mid-March and save yourself from the season, because clearly you're not really interested in the team or the season. You only care about what it says at the end, and how you can spin it to make yourself feel better and smarter. You could just save the rest of us the trouble and check in when the season's over. The unfortunate part of the Great GP1 and his two-faced agenda is that he does have a way with words and his metaphors are entertaining. It's commonplace to laugh out loud at one of his posts. It used to be for his humorous observations and creative writing skill. Lately however, it's more like laughing at the poster as he struggles to keep his stories straight and disagree with everyone, painting himself in one post as a protector of minorities and exposing himself in another as a prejudiced generalizer. Truly unfortunate, but humorous.
This isn't last year's team and last year is now officially on the shelf. This is 2009/2010 with a team that experienced winning last year and understands how to win now. I expect more out of this team than the usualy "building process". The real BS is reverting back to losing to teams we should not lose to and excuse it away as part of a "building process".I say BS. You certainly don't want to drift into and keep reinforcing bad habits .. but last year's Zips team is a perfect example of a team that wasn't good early, improved upon its weaknesses, and put it together when it counted .. which is at the END of the season, not the beginning.B)
Go Zips!

Not really. The history of Wake football is they are usually between laughing stock and average with some good years thown in now and then that keeps their strange, Ivy League type alumni coming back for wine and cheese before games on sunny North Carolina fall afternoons. The expectation for winning are low because football is really not a priority. There is almost no difference in the post game tailgating after a win or loss. It's different.....nobody gets to happy when they win or too low when they lose. The past four years have really been atypical of the program.Teams don't learn to win by losing. The learn to win when they win.Has there never been a Wake team that improved over the course of a season? Really? -

This just isn't funny or original. Just because you know how to use photoshop doesn't mean you should use it. Better luck next time.Inspired by recent play, the U of A announced today a new helmet design will be revealed at the BG game this Friday: -
I know some don't like when I post about Wake Forest, but there are interesting parallels between Akron and Wake at times. A lot of you would like the vibe of a Wake football or basketball game. I hope this game doesn't become a parallel.Wake has an older guy named Bill Urbanik who does their color for football radio. Some of you may be old enough to remember that Urbanik was a defensive lineman for the 1968 tOSU team that won the national championship. I wasn't born yet. Anyhow, he doesn't speak very well, but he always makes good points that cut to the chase of success or failure. One of the points he made this season about why Wake was losing close games late in the year is that they lost close games early in the year. If a team doesn't execute and win close games early, they will never learn how to win late in the season. The Zips need to win games like this early in the year so they don't fall into the trend of losing them. I don't expect Akron to win games against good ACC, Big East, Big 12, etc. teams, but I absolutely expect them to win a game at HOME against a team like AP. It's nothing against AP, they deserved the win. Akron is too good of a team to lose games like this. Expectations are too high and the players are too good to lose a game like this.

Anyone???????????
I agree. I love the direction our BB team is going. We have a lot to be excited about. It's sad when we have 20,000 or so fans going to the embarrassing football games but we can't get 5,500 to go see a great BB team play. Don't get me wrong i go to the football games, but the basketball program definately deserves more funding and fan recognition. go zips. Why is there so much talk on other threads about our crappy football team when there are far more deserving teams that we should be discussing? Let's talk about this AP team. Are they better or worse than the team we beat last time? How many blocks do you think Zeke will have? If he gets 10 do you think he will get a triple double in his first game? Those are questions and topics i like to think about, who cares about our football team and it's lack of coaching and lack of effort from the players. -
The two best talent teams in the MAC right now are Temple and CMU. CMU will lose their QB next yera and be back to being average. Temple will continue to be good. Our problem is we are once again, a good team in the MAC in the same division as the best team in the MAC....Just like we were with Marshall a few years ago. With that said, we can still be good enough next year to make a bowl.the top mac teams we are along way off in terms of talent -
Thank you for your post. I've been to the campus and I stand by what I said. I've been to Philadelphia and the place should be pushed into the Delaware River. The only good thing about Philadelphia is you can easily fly there and quickly drive to Atlantic City. I don't disagree we have too many guys who are satisfied with losing....it is the history of our program. We have a QB named Nicely....I want a bunch of players named Angry. That, along with a lot of other reasons is why you guys are better and will be for a long time.Congratulations on your win."Calling is what Temple has a "campus" is being generous. I've been there. It's just sort of a part of the city that bridges two slums.Could it be that Temple is winning because they are recruiting EXACTLY the type of player that is not afraid to go out at night around their campus? We're busy recruiting "players we can all be proud of"....we all know what that means."Wow, what an absolutely ignorant, profoundly stupid comment. I've attached a link with nightime pics of our campus for the edification of posters who want to make an objective opinion.I didn't get to Fri's game but was in Akron 2 years ago and obviously saw last year's game. Temple's players have all worked their ass off to get to the point we are at now. Our players physical fitness levels are the result of incerdible effort and work. Players bought into the program of community service, classwork and dedication to blowing up the terrible football reputation we earned. We have a good team because we have good football players, not players who "not afraid to go out at night."I think Akron has a nice young nucleus to build around. But I also saw some of the same nonsense I used to see at Temple. That DB who made a couple plays early but also was repeatedly burned making his flamboyant "show me the $$$" gestures....that was funny. Players laughing and clapping and danciong on the sideline. Thats what we used to have but we dont have it anymore. I suggest that is what your staff work on instead of finding guys who "arent afraid to go out at night......" http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...:en-US%26um%3D1 -
Good post. Especially the part about the MAC albatross.Calling what Temple has a "campus" is being generous. I've been there. It's just sort of a part of the city that bridges two slums.Could it be that Temple is winning because they are recruiting EXACTLY the type of player that is not afraid to go out at night around their campus? We're busy recruiting "players we can all be proud of"....we all know what that means. If I could ask one question in the interview process for the next coach, I would ask: "I believe there is a lot of talent on this team and they have underperformed. Do you agree there is currently enough talent to win in the MAC?" If he goes on about a "building process" don't hire him.The lack of execution can be attributed to coaching, the speed is something we were sorely lacking. Temple was the fastest team I've seen us play against all year. Some of the things that I am amazed by are --- we played at beat Temple when they were in the Big East now they are recruiting with the MAC albatross hanging around their neck and they recruit better and completely cleaned our clock...how does that happen? Temple has possibly the worst campus location of any school in the MAC (have you been to Temple) yeah it is in Philly, but is in a part of Philly where you should be afraid to go out at night. All this brings us back to Al Golden...the guy must be a genius. When are we going to hire our Al Golden, Urban Meyer, Brian Kelly etc. There are no excuses for this school any longer they need to put the money into the coaching and up their standards.
