No TV again?

So, will there be no TV coverage in the state of Ohio for the Wisconsin game or will it be just like the Indiana game last year? I have heard a lot people tell me the game is on the Big Ten network at noon Aug 30, but so is YSU @ OSU. Does this mean in order to see Akron play on the tube you have to live in Wisconsin? Is the game even being shown anywhere in Akron? Of course I live in the Columbus area, so I expect there to be no hope here for me.

It's listed on the BTN schedule for noon. BTN has several alternate channels that basically show their whole schedule of games. I'm sure it will be on at the Fairlawn Lizard. That's where we watched the Indiana game last year. This year I get all the BTN channels so I can watch at home. Not the same as the lizard, though.

I really wish the Zips game wasn't on at the same time as the OSU game. I don't have BTN and I bet any bar I go to will be lucky to have even one tv with Akron-Wisc on it. Plus I'll have to fight the sea of red to even find a seat to attempt to watch it. I might even skip watching the game and listen to it on radio just to avoid the massive OSU crowds.

I have Dish Network and they play multiple games at the same time on the Big Ten Network. They have a "main channel" if you will, but they will also play 2 or 3 other games at the same time on an alternate channel. No worries, the Zips will be shown live.

I'll have to check and see if there is somewhere for me to see the "alternate" BTN games but I doubt that there is. I have Insight Communications and am in the Columbus area if anybody has any info on that.

Amen to that. Can't stand it when Ohio A&M fans start flocking into the establishment for a 3:30 game that follows an Akron nooner. Sitting amongst them outnumbered 9 to 1 and listening to them enjoy their stomping of YSU AND the Badgers taking it out on us (glass is half empty on this one - sorry) ... not sure I can take it. Will be a last-minute decision for me as to whether I go Cleats/Winking or just listen on the radio. Damn it ... :wall:

I think the only reason it shows the schedule that way is because OSU is the headline game on the main channel. They probably haven't made the final channel assignments yet. From everywhere I have looked, including the Big Ten Network schedule itself, the Akron game will be shown live. The channel doesn't cater to local preferences, so if it says it is being played live it will be played in all locations.

If ya don't mind watching it alone in your computer room on a 3 by 3 inch screen you can watch it on gozips, for a fee of course.
How about everyone picks out a bar in the Akron area and we try to gather a whole ton of Zips fans to overpower the buckeye fans. We should be able to take over one bar, right?

Sounds like a good idea. Somewhere like BW3's near campus might work. We need a smallish bar or else we will still be overwhelmed by OSU fans.

Someone will need to check this to make sure it's legit, but, I have heard there may be a watch party for Zips road games that are on TV at the Ohio Brewing Co./Damons on Main Street (Near Barley House). It may be held by the Alumni Association. I don't know if anything's official or how many they are expecting, this is just what I heard.

maybe this info will helpYes, DIRECTV carries the Big Ten Network in both standard-definition and high-definition on channel 220. (Beginning July 30, the network can be found on channel 610.) This fall, overflow football games can be found on neighboring channels 608, 609, 611, 612 and 615. These channels are also available in both standard-definition and high-definition. http://www.bigtennetwork.com/corporate/Faq.aspusually this info shows up gameday...sometimes a day or so before

Thank you! That's great news.Side note: I was going to set the DVR to record the rebroadcast early Sunday morning. I searched keyword "Zips" and found the rebroadcast. I go to my guide and can't find it, I'm getting pretty po'ed when I realize that when I set up my custom guide I took out all the crap channels that I don't watch. I forgot I took out the BTN. So I'm sure the BTN will be thrilled to hear that I added them back to my guide. Go Fighting Illini !

You might be SOL but stay tuned, tv schedules change. Looks like the Big Ten Network is rebroadcasting the Akron game at 1 am. :thumb:I'll double check my tivo guide later. I think there is a 14 day advanced guide.
Since my cable provider doesn't have BTN I would have to go to my parents' house to watch any replays so 1:00 am wouldn't be good for me. Does anybody know if there are additional replay times throughout the holiday weekend?

Anyone know if you can get any of the Big Ten Network games at www.channelsurfing.net? I've used that site before to see some games that were on ESPN360 (it's not carried where I live), or one of the GamePlan packages, but I've never tried for B10 Network. The site can by iffy once in a while, but it might be worth a shot, at least as a last resort.

BIG TEN NETWORK, TIME WARNER REACH DEAL!

Time Warner cable and the Big Ten Network have reached agreement on a carriage deal that will allow University of Wisconsin athletic events to be carried on the cable system. Two sources with knowledge of the agreement say an announcement could be made as early as tonight. The agreement ends more than a year of off- and on- discussions between Time Warner, the major cable carrier in Wisconsin, and the year-old Big Ten Network.A deal has yet to be reached with Charter Communications, which has cable service around the state, including Madison. As recently as the weekend, Mark Silverman, president of the network, had expressed pessimism that he could reach agreement with Time Warner. There has been a sense of urgency to the talks because the start of the Big Ten football season is Saturday. UW meets the University of Akron on Saturday at Camp Randall, and the game is scheduled to be telecast on the network.Time Warner wanted to put the network on a special sports tier; the Big Ten Network argued they belonged on basic cable for all subscribers to watch.Details of the agreement were not immediately available.
Here's hoping they get the feed up by Saturday, and it's not just the main channel. I want to see the ZIPS play, not see YSU get stomped by some overhyped team.
