Beanie 4 Heisman
To answer some question for all of you. Bowser will be able to play he has practiced the past two days. It inst and injury that will be re-aggravated because it was a scope of his knee to clean up some stuff in there. He couldn't practice because it was swollen, which is normal. Bain would like to play, whether or not he does who knows. He may practice some time this week but we will see. He is really up in the air for Wisconsin but he should be good to go for Syracuse. The injuries dont help at all. When you lose many players at different times it is tough to see what your team is like. JD is not making excuses. For those of you who say JD is just saying stuff about Jacq getting better. He is defiantly not making this stuff up. Jacq looks a whole lot better that last year. Our QB situation is so much better now than it was a year ago. Does he have bad days yes. He has had many more good practices than bad. As for UA1987 wondering about if we have studied the film. That is one thing you can be sure we have done. We pick apart film a lot and have been doing it all summer. If healthy we defiantly have a chance to be good this season. Zipsrifle
Though I understand the logic of playing it safe in Wisconsin, I just can't sign up for it. I think we've got to play that game just like any other and go for the win no matter how long the odds are. One thing to consider, say we do just pack it in and rest our starters. Would the NCAA sanction us for fixing a game?

Would the NCAA sanction us for fixing a game? Then they would have to sanction Can't as well. They gave up and rested their starters against OSU.I'm with you, though. You play every game to win, otherwise you develop a losing mentality.
BigAppleBucky
I said this a couple of weeks ago and I'll say it again. Akron needs to treat the WI game like a scrimmage and sustain as few injuries as possible by playing back up players as much as possible. Take the 50-0 beating with the second team, pick up the check on the way out the door, get out of town and get ready for Syracuse and Ball State. There is still a lot of time to heal guys before Syracuse and Ball State. Don't take a risk on an almost sure loss. That's just bull. Your coach and players don't feel that way. I guarantee. Also, UW doesn't seem to play well in the first game of the season. In recent years Bowling Green (twice) and Washington State both have put up some very decent scores before losing. It's sports. Anything can happen. At the very least your #1 unit needs to get the reps.I don't bet, but if I did, I think I might take the Zips getting almost four touchdowns. uafan
Honestly, I think the Zips could go 0-11 this year and some of you would still find a way to suck JD off. The state of Akron football right now is pathetic. JD has successfully transformed this program into the WORST team in the MAC EAST!!!! He's got all of his own recruits, those recruiting classes that so many on here were just raving about, and we are the worst team in one of the worst conferences in the country. In 2009 we will finally have complete 1st rate facilities, and we're going to need a new first rate head coach. And I don't want to hear this BS about JD having won a MAC title either. JD backed his way into a MAC championship in a crazy year in the MAC (with the same conference record his predecessor got fired for), won a MAC championship with 90% of his predecessor's guys in the starting lineup, and then proceeded to get beat by the 5th place CUSA team in a bowl game. I'm not saying Lee Owens was a great Division 1 coach, because he wasn't, but if any of you think JD has done anything better you're delusional. Now that the team is fully his, we are back in the same sad state we were at the end of the Faust era. Guys aren't even graduating, and we're losing scholarships because of it. JD's already pulling the injury card as to why his team isn't functioning, and the season hasn't even started. I have a bad feeling that the final year in the Rubber Bowl is going to be a long one sadly. The sooner it's over, and the sooner this program can move on from the train wreck this coaching staff has created the better from where I'm sitting. I will continue to support my alma mater and this team, but I have lost any faith I had left in this coaching staff. You are my hero!!!!! Hilltopper
Somebody better tell Brookhart that he might want to figure out a way to win a home game. A nice crowd on a beautiful night and we lay another egg.
