GoZips Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 The 2008 Capital One Bowl has been announced. Our beloved Zippy is not among the twelve selected finalists. What gives? Why doesn't Zippy get a crack at defending his title? A couple of last year's opponents (UCLA, South Carolina) are in the running this year. Makes my blue and gold boil.Found This Quote
apalmison Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 After going undefeated last year, I think Capital One Fears the Roo. Quote
skip-zip Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Without a doubt. They probably don't feel that letting the same school win the title two years in a row is any benefit to them. And it is a privately run competition by a company, so I guess they can do whatever they want. It still bums me out though. Quote
zipseuph Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 if you look at the past contestants and winners you will see that the winner of the thing was never in it next year. but I still like the idea that capital one "FEARS THE ROO!!" Quote
zipseuph Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 ok just looked at it and I'm a little confused. didn't the flush and brutus get enough votes last year to be added in for this years tournament? Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 That's INSANE! You would think as big of a company as Capital One is that they wouldn't fear anything. :lol:I'm gonna make a shirt now that says, "Capital One FEARS THE ROO!"Looking at this: 2002 Monte the Grizzly Montana State 2003 Cocky South Carolina 2004 Monte the Grizzly Montana State We might be in it next year. Go Zips! Quote
flipthezip Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 My understanding is that first you must submit an application to be chosen for the competition. It might not be Capital One fearung Zippy but rather UA not sending in the paperwork. Quote
