Can't game

That was as ugly a win as I've ever seen, but at the end of the day all that matters is that it was a win.Jacq had a HORRID first half. He looked lost at times and made some truly terrible reads. The second half didn't get a whole lot better, at least until right at the end. I'm afraid at this point he's still our achiles heel.Defense did an excellent job in the second half. The first half was pretty ugly. Still gave up a lot of yards, but when we needed it they stepped it up.Looks like the kicking game finally got straightened out for us. Although I'd still wish we could find someone who could get the ball past the 10 yard line on a kickoff. If we can't get those high shotgun snaps figured out we need to either change the center or put Jacq up under center more often. I still don't think Jacq is a great QB, but it isn't helping anything that he has to climb the ladder to get to the snap. That second, second and a half that he spends going up to get the ball would be really helpful.Again, ugly win, but a win none the less, and over our rivals. Anyone else think this MIGHT just spell the end for Dougy Martin???

Being at the game in an area packed with Hippie Tech students, they were confident and cheering hard the entire game, but that replay call just sucked the life entirely out of the entire student body. That was a wonderful thing! As the end of the game approached a couple of us looked at that wagon wheel on the side line and wondered how crappppy it would be to have to watch Kan't players bum rush the sideline to grab it. It was a really nice feeling walking out knowing it will be safely where it ought to be for another year.Silly Kan't Skaters. They almost thought they had it! GO ZIPS.SeeTeeZip

i watched the game on tv.the catch was clearly a td in the end zone.it was not even close.should have never came to being in the first place.even both espn announcers said it was a td catch.i give the replay guy credit for making the right call.

Bowser should get the game ball. That dude almost single-handedly kept us alive, with the TD and with a huge catch to set up Igor's winning kick.Other than Bowser and Igor, it was an ugly-ass game.Dennis Kennedy averaged something like 1.5ypc and we kept doing boneheaded plays like reverses and plays that only go sideways.2 of Jacq's INTs were the fault of clumsy receivers, but one was all on the QB and there were several more that we're lucky didn't happen.
Defensively, B-Will was outstanding again, and as a matter of fact most of the DB's played pretty well.
MDZip did you make it to the game this week?

What took so long? We were happier the longer it took but that was one long review.

The whole game took so long because of TV. I'm sure they delayed the ruling just to give the announcers some more time to talk.

Sometimes being superstitious can bite you in the ass. I spent the entire second half of the fourth quarter and 99% of the OTs behind the bleachers because every time I watched from the stands we did poorly. However when I was not in the stands we won.In the second half, when we were down 21-17 I turned to my buddy and said, "Next big play wins the game." And as I was walking down to go behind the bleachers, Can't muffed the punt and we recovered. Sure enough I ended up being right.I sat behind the rowdies in GA and the atmosphere was electrifying. They sure make their presence known, don't they?Jacq played terrible most of the game, and the play calling was subject to questioning as well. But the defense got the job done when they needed to(boy do I hate how weak the 3-3-5 is against a mobile QB) and we somehow squeaked out a victory. I think next week will be a lot different at the RB.Anyone know when Andrew Johnson is coming back?

Nope, it was playing on ESPN360 so at least I got to see it there. Of course right as the 2nd overtime started, they cut away for the Illinois-Michigan game, so then I was going nuts trying to get the 1350 Internet feed up. I got it going right as they announced Can't State had missed the field goal.

Eastern Michigan just helped our cause by knocking off BGSU at BG 24-21. Go figure - EMU has been terrible so far this year.
Good for us. We get a shell-shocked BG team that will be playing on the road. We're fresh off a Wagon Wheel victory and spirits are high. Let's knock BG out for good on Saturday. I hope everyone will be there.

Eastern over BG and Miami loses again. The break we thought we were getting by not playing the Red Sparrows this year isn't sounding like such a great break right now.
I really thought we would benefit from not playing Miami. Now, I would trade our Ball State game for a game with the Redhawks without hesitation. In other news, Army helps make us look good by destroying Tulane 44-13.

akronzipsbetch...about the 3-3-5 defense against a mobile QB.I think our chances are much better to track down an elusive guy like Edelman by having that Rover in the middle of the field, a guy who has better lateral movement and more athleticism than another inside linebacker or interior lineman. But the fact is, guys were whiffing on him all day, so I don't think it mattered who was chasing him. Beyond that, our interior defensive people were flat-out worn out trying to get him. We looked like those guys were walking after him in pass rush situations towards the end of the game. The one good play I saw against Edelman today was when one of our DBs just stood in front of him and DID NOT MOVE. This gave our pursuit a chance to catch him. He WANTS defenders to commit to him, so that he can step out of the way and make you lunge at him. That Akron DB, whoever it was, seemed to be the only time all day that people weren't whiffing at him.

I'm pretty sure that was #2 Jalil Carter who made that play Skip. It was one of the few times an Akron defender kept containment on Edelman. It also seemed like we did not sub DL's as much as, for instance, in the Cincy game. I think that's why Lively, Sewell and Lemon looked spent towards the end.

Thanks JohnnyZip.....that is one of those things I will never understand about football....Wouldn't it have been better towards the end of the game to rotate in some fresh pass rushers.....instead of your regulars...who cannot even breathe anymore?Towards the end of the game, especially on that play where he was scrambling in the backfield forever on that 4th down play, He made our DLs look like they were standing still. I mean, for about 10 seconds he was REFUSING to run past the line of scrimmage....and still...nobody could get within 10 feet of him. A fresh DL might have been able to get a hand on him.

Yes, he made a couple of catches at the end, but I am still pissed about the 5 or 6 he dropped! Did you miss those, Mr. Bowser?

One more thing that I don't believe has been mentioned yet....Not only did the officials miss calling the Bowser TD catch correctly, but that was CLEARLY interference, if he did not make the catch. The photo undisputably shows the defender running straight at Bowser, with his back to the ball, and trying to push him out of the end zone. It's just unbelievable how bad these officials are.

Hah! Yeah I was screaming about that at game time! It's really sad. If that would have been ruled incomplete I would have been irate.

Lets talk about the word consistency for a minute....Its inevitable for even the most consistent receiver to have an off game....granted at the cinnci game he did have a couple dropped passes in the first quarter...i would be juss a lil itchy if I was playing against a team that was nationally ranked for the first time in my career against a real NFL corner. And now in his first BIG RIVALRY game that actually means sumthin...shit happens. Not making excuses he my brother and i expect him to catch and make a play with every ball that touches his hands...but when it comes down to it....no one was making that catch like that in the end of the fourth quarter other than Bowser. Nothing against Andre Jones...They complement each other perfectly I feel...different play styles. Andre is serious! Clearly the chemistry between Bowser and Jac still has a long way to come (coming from some1 who has seen what happens when there is QB-Bowser chemistry), but it is growing. Maybe Camp ending knee surgery may have haltered that process...i dunno. What you see isnt what you get...sometimes its the receivers fault...sometimes its jac's fault...watching the game you wouldnt know...trust me.If u need proof Uafan go to youtube and check out the highlight tape....same shit he has done to JC corners...he has now done to NFL corners...(not the Can't corner...LOL)Turning one of your worst games....into a game winning acrobatic TD catch and a 20 yard catch that put igor in cash money land...sounds like the makings of a resillient football player.
