johnnyzip84 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 French is the ultimate homer...i love it...i listen sometimes just to hear some of his wild ass calls...thats what college football is about...As long as he's called the play-by-play for this nutty FB program (and I say that with great affection), he has earned this right! Gotta love 'em. When I heard the post-game on the way home, they played his "call" of Bowser's TD (well the reversal of the call on the field anyway) and he was just as animated as if it had just hapened real-time. Zipsrifle Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Yep, whenever you listen to Frenchie, we're getting screwed all over the place. If we get an 8 yard run, it's an 11 yard run with a bad spot. That guy is a legend. Quote

You can still see that on youtube and they have his voice calling it. I laugh everytime I hear it. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Yep! Steve French has been a hero of mine for about 15 years! The Frenchy abides. Quote
GoZips88 Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 He does his sports talk show on Monday evenings from 6-7PM on Time Warner channel 14 (channels 35/29 - The Cat if you want to grab the signal out of the air). Love it when he goes on a rant. Usually opens the show by checking himself out on his in-studio monitor ... always worried how his shirt and/or hair are looking. Occasionally shows you his leg if he's wearing shorts. He wore a very dark - almost black - shirt one night and all you could see was his head against the black background of the studio (looked like a floating head). Sucks that he's an OU grad but he's definitely one of us now. Love ya Steve! Quote

Zip Watcher Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 French is our legend .. great announcer for the Zips.If he doesn't have one .. he ought to have the "lifetime contract" in place. At this point, he's as much the voice of the Zips as Joe Tait is for the Cavs .. it would be weird to have anyone else. Quote
