GP1 Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 In Mike's ongoing lobbying for Rogers to play QB, he forgot to mention one of the keys to a B+ grade for coaching. Having all three time outs for a two minute drive is critical for a team. Akron had all of theirs yesterday. They didn't need to use time outs because the proper players were not on the field early in the half, uncertainty about calls, etc. That's a sign of good mental preparation. At a minimum, players should be well coached in who should be on the field when certain packages are called. Lining up and play calling is up to the coaches. Execution is up to the players. These are minimum standards. When they are met and the team wins, a B grade is in order. Rasor made the right pick with something in the B range (B+ is probably a little too high). Quote

With 0:52 seconds left, it was 2nd and 5 at the 12, we got flagged for an illegal substitution penalty--after an EMU TO. This was inexcusable, moved us back 5 and had a direct influence on having to kick at the end. I was confident DK would have gotten the first down with 2nd and 5...2nd and 10 made a FG try almost certain. Poor coaching here. Quote
