GP1 Posted November 6, 2008 Report Share Posted November 6, 2008 While I only watched the game on TV last night, I heard two funny things and I wanted to see if anyone heard anything more funny.When ESPN showed a profile shot of Toledo Tom, my wife said, "Is Toledo Tom 36 months pregnant or what?" Toledo Tom has earned a lot of respect and has been generally good for the MAC and UT. He should check himself into a fat farm for six months when he retires so he can live a long happy life.The second funny thing was not really one comment, but the ongoing comments of Donnan doing color for ESPNU. For those of you who recorded the game, listen to his second half. I would bet $100 the guy was a drunk as a skunk. He was making no sense at the end of the game. He was making no sense at the end of the game.I though Donnan did a much better job doing color than the crews ESPN provided for coverage of the Zips games last year. His 200 yard prediction for Kennedy late in the game didn't make sense, but he did call the Matt Rodgers QB keeper. He also seemed fairly able to pick out what worked and why, including pointing out a missed Zip defensive shift. At least he was paying attention. Last year, when Lou Holtz was in the booth, it seemed as though the broadcast crew wasn't even paying attention to the game.Back to the Rodgers run. Hey, Matt we are going to let you play. Hand off, hand off, hand off, QB keeper so that you can get tackled by a frustrated defensive player who would love to put a hurt on the QB, at the end of an already decided game. He was making no sense at the end of the game.Did anyone catch the comment he made about the two elderly people who were at the Thanksgiving Snow Bowl against Can't a few years back who arrived two hours before kickoff when no one was in the stadium and it was butt cold. He said that he was standing in front of the press box and that these two came up to him and told him that he was in their seats. Then he went on to say that this was his most memorable moment from the Rubber Bowl and that he was going to take those two seats with him when we retire the bowl. Looks likes an amazing place, I'd like to see it. It looks closer to the Polymer Science building than the Rubber Bowl - does the Polymer Science building seat 70,000?
