You sure you guys can't give the whole Hipsher family a ride down to Athens. I'm sure Granny Hipsher would love to reunite with her friends from the O Zone :D . The Akron game last year may be the most fun I've had at a basketball game. But, I can hardly remember anything about the game...just what happened on the sidelines.

Should be a good game Wednesday. We're very rested after coming off a big win against Miami. We have an 11 game winning streak @ the Convo and more and more people are coming out to the games as we start winning. Should be a good crowd there...hopefully. We have a lot of guys that are hot right now. Sonny Troutman, Mychal Green, Terren Harbut, Jeremy Fears, and Leon Williams can all step up with big shots. Leon is right up there for Freshman of the Year. I see our home streak goin up to 12... but good luck.

You have hot players and a home winning streak, we have a combination of injured players and young talent that plays together as a team. You will have your hands full at home in the Convo. Get ready to work your butts off if you want to win. But mostly just be sure you get to this game because the Zips program is poised to take off and this season may be your last decent chance to see the Bobcats win against Akron.

Good luck.

Hmm. By that statement, I can only take that to mean you don't know anything about Ohio. Just like you, we're young. Just like you, our top scorer is a junior, and the best overall player is a sophomore. We've also got two freshman that have been playing very well this year.

We're also "poised to take off," and I expect Akron and Ohio to be the class of the MAC East for the next couple years.

Like you said, you're injured and we're hot and incredibly hard to beat at home. You guys just lost to Can't- we beat Miami. You're coming off one day of rest after a tough overtime game while we have three days. It's going to be you that's going to need to work your butts off, because we're going to make sure you're sucking wind early and often.

That said, you guys always play us tough. I know it isn't easy, but I'm fulling expecting a W.

But, win or lose tonight, the fact is we have a better coach. I like our future a heck of a lot more than yours.

The jury is out on O'Shea. I thought he sucked...until about 25% of the way into this season. Seems like the guy may have a "clue" after all?

If the MAC is ever to become a solid 2 NCAA bid conference, more than one team will need to up the level of their hoops program. OU and Akron both seem to be well ahead of 2004-5 expectations, with bright futures ahead. Bodes well for the MAC.

That said, I would still take Dambrot over O'Shea. Dambrot's made a lousy program an immediate contender. O'Shea's "learning curve" was a bit slower. Lots of "L's" his first couple years at the helm.

Ozone... this Zips team thrives in adversity... go ahead,, Tell them they can't win..

It will just prvode more motivation....

We know plenty about Ohio.. 71-59 earlier this year.

Actually, if I were a Bobcat fan, I'd be worried about over-confidence... 11 game home win streak, Zips are injured.. etc... The pressure is on Ohio to hold home court.

The Zips bring it every nite and tonite is no different...

Go Zips!! Rock the Convo!!

That makes a lot of sense right there, buddy. This is your coach's first year. O'Shea finally has the kind of players he wants for his system and he's shown that he is a good coach. No one expected this team to do anything this year (picked last in the east), and he has turned this team around and turned the attitude of the fans around. You gotta give him credit.

Do you know anything about our team that you are basing that statement on? Give some reasons your future is brighter than ours.

BTW, at this time in O'Shea's first year, we had the same record you have right now.

I sure hope that KD's record is better then 54-55 in his 4th year. Congratulations on your mediocrity. Been there, done that with Hipsher.....

Please just keep on under rating the Zips for tonight's game. This team is full of suprises and an awful good/confusing defense. I agree OU has everything going for themselves tonight - home, probably a good crowd, on a little run. But it seems like that's when these Zips usually pull a "How'd they do that?"

Once again, congrats on that 54-55, 4 year dominant run you have going. We'll let you keep him.

KD

I guess if this was your football team's record, I could understand your enthusiasm for your coach. :nutkick:

In Dambrot's second year at Tiffin: 24 wins. His record at Ashland in two years: 48-13. He had the 15th ranked recruiting class in the COUNTRY at Central Michigan. He cultivated probably the finest basketball player in NBA history in LBJ. And he has overachieved here in his first year on the job.

Yes, I'll take him long term over O'Shea.

I think he has to prove a little more than that.

My hunch is KD would agree with you ;)

And I do believe he is destined for even greater success. And, in regards to the subject, he is more "proven" than O'Shea, win or lose tonight. OU fans wanted O'Shea's head for years. Now you like him. Whatever.

You're an idiot. You know nothing about ohio basketball. Even though I never was calling for O'Shea to get fired... those who were, have a reason...WE WERE LOSING! Now he has turned it around. He has said since day one that he wants a full court pressure defense and a fast paced defense, nd now he has it and now we are winning.

You keep saying "win or lose tonight"...sounds to me like your preparing for losing. Nice optimism for your team right there.

Don't try to act like you know anything about whats going on in Ohio basketball... because obviously you don't.

You haven't answered my question...why do you think akron's future is brighter than Ohio's?

So you're saying OU fans can't make up their minds about this guy and they blow with the wind on his coaching ability? That's sure how it looks from here.

OU has what appears to be a good coach with a long learning curve. He may or may not have turned the corner. Hipsher had a couple of relatively good years and it meant nothing. We now also have what appears to be a good coach. Ours, however, is proven on several levels, including recruiting. The verdict is still out on yours. These are facts.

Now, you may believe in blind optimism, but I do not. Regarding tonight, we are going to play minus our top two scorers and our top rebounder (Peterson and Wood). You, apparently, are fully armed. Thus it would be unwarranted for me to assume a Zips victory, much as I might like one. I am a realist (although not THE realist :gun: ). We may win, but it will be tough to do so.

Now, if you still need more reasons why I think Akron's future is brighter than OU's (other than proven coaching ability), let me dig into my pack for my crystal ball and I will try to definitively predict the future for you. Let's see, it's becoming clearer now. Akron will continue to kick OU's butt in both basketball and football for several years, so demoralizing the kittens that they drop from the MAC and join the OVC. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, OU guest.

First of all, I hope your joking about the dropping out of the MAC thing.

I'm not saying that OU fans can't make up their mind about O'Shea...OU fans haven't been changing their minds back and forth. He is a good coach, and a great recruiter. He has players here that can play the system he wants to play and we are doing great right now. Has he made mistakes? yes. Has he admitted mistakes? yes. Has he learned from them? yes. He has learned and now we are on the right track and we are winning now. The verdict is still out on your coach yet. He hasn't won anything yet.

O'Shea just brought in the best recruting class that OU has had in at least 10 years. We are prepared for the future.

Look, I'm not trying to come on here and bash your team. I think Dambrot has done a great job so far at Akron. I didn't expect him to turn it around so quickly. I'm just trying to get people to give O'Shea some credit. He didn't do great in his first couple years and he endured a lot of criticisim. He isn't afraid to admit mistakes and he has changed them. He went through a lot of public criticism and I think he deserves credit for pulling through it and now, it looks as if the team is turning the corner.
