Z.I.P.
Well, for me, this is a bigger disappointment than what happened to the team in the snow. Marcus Tracy of Wake Forest was awarded the Hermann Trophy by Missouri Athletic Club just minutes ago. I am floored, and flabbergasted at this oversight. The numbers are just not there for Tracy this year. He's a great player, yes, but no one came close to putting up the numbers Steve did against excellent competition. In the early season, Zak scored more than one goal for every two shots taken -- that's amazing. Tracy plays in the ACC. Zakuani plays in the MAC. That is the only way I can comprehend this decision. It's a slap in the face less to Steve, than to the league he performs in. It can't help but hurt recruiting. Let me try and raise my jaw off the floor. ZipAlumn
I hate to say it but "What else is new". The University of Akron, its teams and it players just do not get any national respect. They didn't twenty - thirty years ago and they still don't today. I am not familar enough with the soccer world to know if Zakuani deserved the Hermann Trophy or not, but I knew enough not to get my hopes up. Sorry Zak, but our thanks for a great season.

RowdyZip
You can't steal home field advantage from a player in an awards vote. This is the next best thing.I'm surprised he didn't finish 3rd.Man, being an Akron fan you never get used to getting crapped on.
ejcool27
Even ESPN though says Zakuani should've won tho http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story...os1&cc=3888 "The other finalists are quality Wake Forest seniors Marcus Tracy and Sam Cronin, but if Zakuani doesn't win in a landslide it would be a travesty..." skip-zip
Do I understand this right from the story? These are coaches voting?I can understand this coming from a press poll. But, you would think the coaches would get it right.I can't come up with any remotely reasonable reason for why a travesty like this could happen except the negative perception of the conference that we play in. Tracy received sympathy votes from those who felt Wake deserved to win the team title.

UAZipster0305
I am absolutely appalled. What prestige and dignity do these awards and the tournament have if they are so biased?
