skip-zip Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Clearly, Ball State is getting a lot of credit for being the first team to beat Buffalo in some time.I might be the first to say this, and I hope I'm wrong, and I will as I say it....but....I see that Can't has moved up in the rankings, and appears to be playing well enough to possibly..."possibly"...be the best team out there come tournament time. Dave in Green Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Sure, Can't has a chance to be the hot team at tournament time. So do quite a few other teams that are bouncing up and down the MAC power ranking charts like yo-yos. There is no single powerhouse in the MAC right now. Whichever team peaks at the right time, and perhaps gets a few lucky breaks, is going to win the tournament. It could come down to a 3-point bank shot with less than a second left .....Meanwhile, Rasor has come up with a unique way to predict MAC tournament seedings:http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/zips/2009/02/p...nament-seeding/ Quote
ZipAlumn Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 For the life of me I can not see Ball State and K.S.U. ranked ahead of Akron. Granted Can't is a dangerous team with talent, however I still don't think that they have come together as a team yet. :screwks: :screwks: Quote
tbozeglav Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 whoever wins the MAC is going to be the team that doesn't get screwed the worst by officiating. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Dave, Please...don't mention that 3-point bank shot. I was sitting in the first row watching that guy launch that shot right in front of me. I'll never forget it....having not experienced an NCAA appearance since I was a senior in 1986. The funny thing was, I KNEW the shot was NOT on line. Then..it banks in. I still think to this day that Dials got a piece of it. The thing about Can't is that they have so many guys who have been there before, and then go 6-0 against the West with their new transfer really shooting well. They scare me.ZipAlumn....I'm with you. They were not playing like a team early...and let's hope they do not completely get there this year. Quote
zipboy Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Interesting comment from Elton today in the PD - in an informal poll of MAC coaches, Miami and Akron are the slight favorites with Can't and either Ohio or BG (I forget) behind. Little respect for Buffalo. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 The survey was only of MAC West coaches. Apparently Akron and Miami made a bigger impression on them over the last six games. I wonder what the MAC East coaches think? Quote
Zip Watcher Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 The big question is when the Official Scientific CK lunchtime rankings will be updated. There were no rankings last week, and the Zips struggled with the last cupcake.Coincidence?I think not. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Too few hours in the day! Shooting for a February 19th edition. Quote
