Spin
Why was the hockey season cancelled mid-season?And better yet, why did nobody update the website so that potential fans wouldn't schedule a Saturday afternoon outing and drive to the rink only to find it locked up? ksu sucks
Why was the hockey season cancelled mid-season?And better yet, why did nobody update the website so that potential fans wouldn't schedule a Saturday afternoon outing and drive to the rink only to find it locked up? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but it's probably due to the fact that no one even knew we had a hockey team to begin with.
tbozeglav
fwiw, i thought akron's hockey team wasn't actually an NCAA team, but more or less a club... but i could be wrong
ziptrumpet87
It was a club team. Maybe they had financial difficulties or too few players?

RootforRoo44
They were REALLY bad if im not mistaken their first few years but this year they were doing well. Club Hockey might as well be the NCAA because it's not that bad of competition. I bet they had financial problems though, i heard they were paying 13-1400 dollars a player each year. With rink fees and reff fees and traveling costs, it couldnt have been cheap. From doing Club Baseball this year for the first time, im realizing it's not cheap for anything, and our costs are no where near what Hockey would be. scottditzen
I would buy some of those awesome jerseys in a heartbeat. Sorry to hear about the news. Hope they can get some sponsorship or revenues to keep going.

Hope they can get some sponsorship or revenues to keep going.Well as I have said before i started up Club Baseball this year and it's been very tough getting sponsorship money so i know how they feel. (though if i charged 1300 a player we'd have a bigger budget than the varsity team probably haha). But i do wish them the best, it sucks that it did not become bigger. I know down at OU they have a decent interest in their hockey games and that would be nice to have something like that here as well. Though we would probably need an on campus arena for that to happen. But you can see it's fairly popular down there in this video (you can also see a Can't player pound an OU players' face into the ice) :
