Captain Kangaroo Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Humpty's shot is looking good, but he's limping. I'm guessing he's good for 8-10 minutes max tomorrow. Sweich is deadly from the baseline, but he looks like he's shooting pop-a-shot. The team is loose...the practice is 100 percent shooting. No scrimmaging. Gonzaga pretty much used the practice time to have dunking competitions and half court trick shots. Illinois scrimmaged and ran a pretty serious 50 minute session.Steward just dunked with 2 hands from a standstill. Compartment Syndrome seems to have some positive side effects. Quote
higherroad Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Gonzaga pretty much used the practice time to have dunking competitions and half court trick shots. As a Zag fan, this is disappointing to hear. I prefere a more focused, intense, business-like approach to these games, more along the lines on how your young team is evidently handling this experience. This group of Gonzaga players are supremely talented as individuals, yet can be overconfident and headcases on occasion. I hope this isn't the case this time around. Its good to stay loose and have fun, but save that for the playground. The dunking and half-court shots were cute in high school and seems in poor taste. From the sound of it, Illinois and Akron appear composed, focused, and ready to play. The Zags just seem like a bunch of goofs and treating it like its a pick-up game or something. They seemed WAY too casual during the press-conference as well.Given how composed your team is, I'm beginning to think that the Akron Zips are going to be shoe shopping sooner than later...for a slipper that fits. I'm guessing not so they can preserve his medical RS, but you never know. Quote
Z.I.P. Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I just heard Keith Dambrot on Sporting News Radio nationally. Did anyone else catch the interview with Arnie. Of course you can guess what took up the majority of the interview (#23 in wine and gold). Keith sounded like he and the team were loose. They should be, they're not supposed to be any good till next year. Quote
