Spring Game On-Campus Tailgating Kickoff

Recommended Posts

The Spring Game kicks off at noon April 4th. I'll probably be in the parking lot at the corner of Carrol St and Spicer, next to the Natatorium. My goal is to arrive at 10am...which always means 10:30am. Fire up your grills and join the fun! What better time to get acclimated to our new tailgating environment!23-000272-medium.gif

Ever since the spring game was moved to the fieldhouse, my group has been tailgating for the spring game.Which brings up another question...has anyone else heard more about the old Buchtel field softball area being our tailgate location for next year? Nobody I know in the athletic dept. can confirm this. But I think it's a great idea since it will be grass, and not pavement.

Last I had heard that was where it'd be... which is kinda dumb if you ask me because there are still quite a few surface lots around campus that can host tailgating just fine (namely the surface lot south the Schrank)

they should make tailgate city on the grass of the outdoor track, fenced off and nice large location.
thatd work, except you wouldnt be able to get any cars out there. University would NEVER allow cars to drive on natural turf... and if its wet... that field would need so much repair it wouldnt be funny

no, no cars, people would go there and play catch, dining services would have food available and open grills. Kind of like the courtyard area that Syracuse had last year

Ohhhhhhhh i see what you mean. See, to me tailgating more often than not involves mass amounts of cars/trucks with pop-up tents and grills everywhere. In that case, I could definite see the University opening it up for some greenspace for people to have fun in during pre-game. Are there any laws that prohibit any kind of tailgating on the top levels of parking decks?

I just hope they dont do something stupid like at Ohio University where you have to have beers inside this stupid roped off beer garden area. Though i guess they did have an area for cars but it still was roped off similarly. Let's just hope it's at least half of the party that it used to be out there at the RB.

I plan on being South of Schrank. First of all, there is a fenced in grass area there that the kids can play in and NOT get run over by cars.....I just hope they have it open. Second, it's by the Rifle range, so if they have a match, we can mozy down there and cheer on the team!

I don't see tailgating being allowed within parking deck areas, too much liability especially up top.
