johnnyzip84 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Rasor gets some interesting information out of JD. Among other things:1) Bain IS eligible.2) His back is giving him trouble.3) DeVoe has a lot of learning to do before he can "whip it, whip it good".4) JD is not willing to say the 3-3 is dead, but I agree with Rasor that this is more about semantics. JD IS willing to say there will be more multiple looks.5) Rodgers seems to have Harris' curiousity.Link Quote
ksu sucks Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 5) Rodgers seems to have Harris' curiousity.LinkThat can only be a good thing. It's reassuring knowing we have a staff who can diagnose talent and potential so well. Quote
Buckzip Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 They make it sound like Jordan Miller isn't playing.Devoe is a redshirt freshman. Did he learn nothing last year? Quote
GP1 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Devoe is a redshirt freshman. Did he learn nothing last year? It's hard to learn anything on scout team. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 20 injured players in the spring? That's crazy. What did he mean, 3 former Zips ran in the 3.3's at Pro Day? Did he mean to write 4.3's (in the 40-yard)? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Devoe is a redshirt freshman. Did he learn nothing last year? It's hard to learn anything on scout team.Exactly. It's a world of difference between playing on the scout team in practice when you know there's no way you'll even dress for a game the whole season to suddenly trying to compete with the starters. Dr Z Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 From Rasor:I played the role of lazy reporter. You asked the questions. J.D. Brookhart answered them.I disagree Mike. I wouldn't use the term "lazy" at all. I would use the term "smart" or "efficient"You asked the questions Zip fans wanted to hear the answers to. I thank you. Most of the time, I would much rather read a Q&A just like what you did than read a bs article about how the Zips are doing this spring. As a reader, I feel like I get more bang for my buck. At the end of every article I read, I ask my self what I learned from that article, if I didn't learn anything, IMO the article was worthless. Nice job! I still won't believe the 3-4 until I see it. I even talked to a player telling me they run it everyday in practice and I still don't believe it. How does it benefit JD or the team by saying "We are still going to be use a base 3-3, but we will be more multiple" if they are really abandoning the stack? Are they trying to surprise PSU!?!? Morgan State!?!? Quote

It's a world of difference between playing on the scout team in practice when you know there's no way you'll even dress for a game the whole season to suddenly trying to compete with the starters. All true. In addition, coaches don't spend a lot of time in practice trying to "coach" red shirts. Their coaching time is spent preparing the players who will play in the game that week. The job of a red shirt on scout team is basically to show up for practice, read a card with the other teams play on it and run that play for the defense. Now, if the Zips would just get their butts in gear and make a bowl game, the coaches could spend an additional month preparing red shirts and non starters for the next season. We really need to at least make one of the MAC bowl games this year. Quote
MRasor0200 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 ZippyRulz,You're right. LOL. It's in the "4.3s."Dr. Z,Thanks. I try to put aside flowery writing style and just plug as much info in those training-camp posts as possible. Are you guys ready for softball season? Quote
