much better indeed...and that music is exactly what I was talking about when we were critiquing the "be a part from the start" advertisement when I thought we needed some dramatic symphonic stuff like in NFL films.
More proof that the AD reads Zipsnation.
Very, very nice! That's X-Box quality! Lol.And I'd hope that the AD would at least have a bit of an idea of the thoughts being expressed by the die hard Zips supporters of ZipsNation. That would only make good sense.

thanks for making this its own thread! when i posted this a while back i was stunned no one commented on it after the board complained about it for so long....... gozips.com is starting to become a very good site. :screwks:
that site that the stadium page is run on isnt associated with gozips in any way. It's hosted by channel1media. Probably in a roundabout way associated with gozips, but that site is not gozips in any way

The parking situation statement that "Currently, there are approximately 10,000 parking spaces within walking distance of the stadium" is certainly open to interpretation. First would obviously be how one defines walking distance, as comfortable walking distances vary with age, health and weather conditions. And since those 10,000 parking spaces are not exclusively dedicated to the stadium, there's the matter of how many other activities will be vying for them, including non-football student needs, businesses, residences, etc.I'd like to see a realistic estimate of how many of those 10,000 parking places are typically filled when there isn't a football game going on, exactly how far away the 10,000th spot is and what to expect in that area during a sellout game.

I think it's obvious that most of the people driving to the game will be taking a trek from downtown. As for myself, I'll be staying on campus after my classes are over and wait until after the game to drive back to the apartment.Spicer and Sumner are going to be crazy during pre game.

When I went to the Akron - Columbus game last year in Columbus, I probably had to walk 1.5 - 2 miles to the game from where I was parked. So our situation couldn't possibly be worse than that. If you build it and win in it they will come.I'm just gonna walk, but maybe we could get one of those Trolley-looking buses to run people from the downtown parking decks to The Info?

Thats something else I was thinking about. I get the suspicion that the University will be employing the use of the Roo Express Shuttle Buses to get people who are parking downtown to the stadium and back

Yeah. The people who will complain about parking are ridiculous. Have they ever been to a sporting event in Cleveland? Akron has so much empty parking downtown that it's absurd. There's an entire empty parking deck next to the Gojo building, there's always room in the O'Neils deck behind the Barley House, there's a deck between Inventure place and Quaker Square, there's the deck for the Knight Center, and the muni deck next to the courthouse, all of which are nearly completely empty on weekends. There's the surface lots across from Canal Park, too. Many of the campus lots are empty on weekends, like the one by the Chapel and the Polski deck. If there's nothing going on at EJ Thomas there's a deck underneath there. They're doubling the size of the deck on Exchange, too.

Actually that is kind of a misquote. The 10,000 spaces, has always been 10,000 spaces on campus. They aren'te even including city lots. Parking ServicesIt does include certain church lots though.

Yep, it does make a big difference to specify that there are 10k parking spaces on the campus alone. That means there are many thousands more parking spaces off campus that are still within walking distance. There's a trade-off to parking close to a large event -- the foot and vehicle traffic immediately around the event site can create gridlock. That's one of the reasons why I personally don't mind parking a reasonable walking distance away, where once you reach your car you can likely drive right away without getting caught up in the heaviest traffic around the facility.

Having now looked at a detailed map a little more closely, there's no question that there is a lot of downtown parking that is a 1-mile walk or less from the stadium. This will be no problem for most people.
But they'll still complain.
I heard that UA will be spending 65 million dollars to build a 30,000 spot parking deck next to the stadium with 4 lane access to the highway so that fans can all together avoid walking through campus while still being able to get into, and out of the game in less than 3.1415926 minutes.

People, me included, are lazy. Many will wait in a 10 car fast food drive thru line instead of walking inside and having no wait.Walking a mile to and from a game is like a Marathon to some people. We all want convenience. I have had my share of walking a long time to get into the Q, or Jake or Browns stadium, and I whine every time. However, I keep going back... :D
