Mike Bizzarro from McDowell high school in the Erie area will be a Zip next year. He is a very interesting story. He also is very fast. 4.24 forty! Here is the link to the story. Link
You beat me by 11 minutes on this one!! Nice job  I was just about to post the same story as you too :D I would have enjoyed seeing the expressions on the coaching staff after the 2nd sub 4.3 forty!

That is so fast! I am guessing that he would be the fastest player on the Zips team currently. I am glad that we are taking chances with an unproven player with talent compared to proven players with baggage. If this guy can catch, he could be a huge addition for the Zips.

The only question I've got is how committed is this kid to football? It sounds like he's got good enough hands, his speed certainly isn't an issue. If he's committed to football and can run routes well enough he could be a major catch. I just wonder about a kid who says things like "I wasn't planning on playing college football" and "I decided to go to the camp at the last minute." Kind of Bizzare.

That may be a result of playing in a system where he doesn't get to touch the ball that often. I would imagine that he'll be a whole lot more dedicated now that he has a full-ride scholarship riding on it.

Mike Bizzarro long-jumped over 21 feet and cleared 6-8 in the high jump during his high school career.
I can hear Frenchy now.........."Zips ball at the 7 yard line. Bizzaro lined up in the slot. Nicely takes the snap, handoff to Bizarro at the 7.... he leaps into the endzone from the six. Touchdown ZIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Even though he's stuck in a high school system that really won't be able to utiize him to nearly his potential (I often feel sorry for high school wideouts because rarely do the have QB's that can consistently put the ball on the money) it'll be great just having a tall, freakish athlete lining up out wide. The QB's are gonna be chomping at the bit over the next few years with Brown @ 6'5" and both Bizarro and Shrock @ 6'3". We're gonna be stacked @ WR.

By the time Bizzaro scores a TD for the Zips (2012 I'm guessing) and with French's eye site, it would sound more like this..."Zips ball, I think, at ohhhh let's say about the 10, wouldn't you say Frank, oh well, they snapped the ball and boy is a cold out there for a Thursday night in November, anyway I think they scored because the fans are cheering and the scoreboard changed, let's go down to JJ to see who scored.....Bizzaro? Well if you say so JJ. There it is folks, the Bolt scores his first TD as a Zip"

Hey my old alma mater! I don't remember hearing much about him, which I guess fits with the article, but I'm sure I can get some more info. I ran on the track team all through high school so I'm guessing he's made an impression there. He must have joined the track team his sophomore year, because otherwise I'd remember seeing him. Looks to me like he was underrated even on his own team with the way the zips coaches were drooling. The offense at McDowell over the last three years definitely wasn't a gunslingers offense, but things could change this coming season. I'll see if I can find out anything interesting...

Okay. I read this, then the first thing I did was check the calendar. Today is NOT April 1st. So then I looked at the URL for this story. It is NOT from The Onion. Someone please do a fact check. This is just too good to be true! Especially for AKRON. What would Cowlumbus State do for a kid with that speed? Fastest player at Akron? He may be as fast as anyone in the NFL. Remember the kid from Jackson HS last year -- he was the OHSAA champ in 100 meters I think, and he wasn't THAT fast. I still can't believe someone like this can sneak under the radar.

...perhaps a forty is more about acceleration? I don't really know, and I don't know why he isn't a 100m runner with that speed. I'll ask around.

Scout is calling him a sleeper.Of course, most of the recruits are considered "sleepers" by Scout. "They might be good, but they're going to Akron so they can't be classified as a top player so we'll say they have potential and call them a sleeper." They say it about every single guy who comes here.
Who are the people actually paying money to view rivals' forums and stories? Are most of them actual coaches/scouts? Otherwise, they're either crazy or have way too much money.

There are coaches that pay for other teams (subscription is done by team), which draws some fans to subscribe and get "insider info", which the coaches can give out behind the security of the website. it's how most info leaks and rumors get started. It doesn't really work when you have a strong independent site like Zipsnation, though. I do hang out on the free boards for their Akron website, but there's no one to talk to.
